“The animate and the inanimate are a part and parcel of God.”

Sadgurudeva, this beautiful video clearly shows us that God exists in both inanimate objects as well as in the living, moving creatures of this earth.

Sadgurudeva is merged in the supreme consciousness of Lord Sri Datta Venkateshwara. His love and feeling of oneness with the deity are clearly seen. This is proof enough that God fills with conscious energy the idols consecrated for worship in places of prayer. Many who believe that God exists only in moving creatures with a visible display of life and growth should understand that God exists also in everything that is composed of the five elements, such as Space, Fire, Air, Water and Matter. God is everywhere. He exists in every visible and invisible part of this entire Creation because He Himself has taken the form of everything that exists, including us. The Universe is not separate from Him. His divine consciousness is present everywhere. There is nothing that exists that is not a part and parcel of God. Hence, as intelligent human beings, we have no right to treat any part of this universe with disrespect. When we are rude, unkind or indifferent towards a person or an animal, we are in truth being rude, unkind and indifferent towards God who has blessed us with this life and everything in it with immense love and care. When we recklessly kick an object or break it in anger or cause destruction to nature, we are in fact showing our bad temper against God Himself. His consciousness and energy are all-pervading. That is why He knows everything that goes on everywhere. It is wrong to think that God’s presence is limited to a place of worship and nowhere else. When we deliberately hurt another soul or thing, we are causing hurt to God. We must be very careful in our every action, not to upset God.

These Nandana MMS video messages carry such a depth of meaning in simple words and vivid images. Sadgurudeva, you are opening our eyes to a better awareness of who we are and how we should behave in our relationship with this world which is God’s own body and soul. – Your Puttuji

Jai Guru Datta Appaji…Happy Guru Day! Thank You for instilling in us a love for nature in Your videos. It is when i am away from cities that i feel closest to God. To be in the middle of a forest is truly like being in a grand temple or cathedral…or to be able to peer down a canyon, gaze at a waterfall, to lie in the grass and watch the clouds, or to run on a sandy beach with the surf…to be one with nature comes so much easier, as i know and see God as the most incredible artist/creator through nature, through animals…it is not as easy with mankind…to watch war on the 6pm news each day, or to hear about a murder in my community, and i can name so many more negatives, but won’t…please help me today to see You in all people…to let go of my ego when it gets bruised, to show love and kindness everywhere i go today, and to touch someone’s life…the way You touch mine each day. Thank You Appaji for another teaching…for another day with You…Sri Guru Datta

    Jaya Guru Hanuman

Datta Venkata is our family’s favorite album. I have been attracted to Swamiji’s bhajans through this album. This album has beautiful bhajans with calm and soothing raagas that will definetly take you to a different world. The flute that was played in the opening sequence of MMS is simply mesmerizing. The word ‘Govinda’ has lot of inner significance and aptly reflects the MMS message. During creation first came sound and from that came form. Sound exists without form but form cannot exist without sound. Here we have to try to think of sound as the one that precedes form. It is the underlying consciousness that is the cause of this creation and this underlying consciousness is known as ‘Govinda’. I will try to explain it with a simile. We have vast ocean of water and icebergs are formed of different shapes on top of water. Think of Water as the underlying sound (‘Govinda’) and icebergs as different forms that originate from it.

Humble prostrations to Sri Swamiji who is nadabrahma and through sound vibrations protects everyone.

Jaya Guru Datta, Appaji Sometimes I marvel at the miracle of rain and wonder why people don’t run into the streets and look at it in amazement. What an incredible thing it is that God sends this water from the sky to nourish the earth! And yet we all take it for granted. Help our children to learn about nature and how we are dependent and part of its cycles. If they don’t learn to care for our environment our planet will continue to be destroyed. Help us all begin to meditate on the natural elements and their role in our lives. You have given us the beautiful prana tattwa mudras and Rasi mudras in Datta Kriya Yoga to help us, please give us the desire and discipline and opportunity to practice them regularly….

Jai Guru Datta! Appaji in close “tête-à-tête” with Venkateshwara, this wonderful photo shows us the peaceful bliss we may experience when we perceive everything and everyone as part and parcel of God. What a beautiful world we live in when we have this consciousness! Wherever we go, whatever we see and hear and taste and smell, all is God only. Always we are surrounded by His loving care; Many years back, Swamiji told me: “See the good only.” I needed and still need a lot of practise to apply this advice. And i found out that seeing the good only is like seeing God only. And life becomes a joyful journey. It is true, nature helps a lot to feel the divine presence; being in nature is like a dip in the holy Ganges. Thank you Appaji for your continuous intense loving care and presence!

Jaya Guru Datta! I looked at the beautiful full moon last night and it reminded me of my Guru. I was driving by lush green rows of trees and foliage and I thought of Him. I see the puffy white clouds against a blue sky and I think of Swamiji. The trickier part is seeing Him in the bug in my kitchen, the dirt on my shoes or the weeds in my yard! When I am in His presence, I observe how Swamiji moves so gracefully through all circumstances and treats everyone with love and respect. How He handles each puja item with such devotion. How He greets the animals wherever He is. I long to have that inner vision of all things as the shining reflection of God’s grace. Appaji, your example is my inspiration! Sri Guru Datta.

    Jaya Guru Datta Puttuji,
A very soulful bhajan background with a very important message for all of us. It says everything is part and parcel of God, both animate and inanimate. Like Puttuji has rightly said, every action of ours directly reflects on God.
Pujya Appaji, by way of HIS unconditional love and compassion, teaches us to see God in everything. When we learn to see God in everything, then i am sure there will be positivity and harmony everywhere. It is our duty to protect and respect God`s creations, whether animate or inanimate.
I beg Pujya Sadgurudeva to bless us all in developing such a mindset and serve all with unconditional love and compassion. Om Namo Hanumate Namaha.

All on this world is a part of god. I understand the words, but to realise really what it means, is difficult. when I kill a slug in my garden because it eats from my salad, I kill a part of god. When I would always think like that I would have fear to move through a day, because always I should do things which are bad, things which bless god. I think it is a long way to see this reality so clear that I can live in a manner, that I do only things which are good, which don’t bless god.

    • Divyashree on August 2, 2012 at 3:14 pm

A beautiful message that reminds us of the fact that God is everywhere. Palaya govinda is also one of my favorite bhajans. When I read the message, I was reminded of the story of Bhaktha Prahalada when he replies to his father Iranyakashyapa with firm conviction that lord Narayana is present in the stone pillar and the Lord comes out breaking the pillar to kill the demon king. Thanks Appaji for the message.

The color Orange and the Hanuman Mantra are visually stirking!
And the Bhajan with Appaji’s image are heartmelting.
Its so true, we take inanimate things for granted, as they can not respond.
We really show our frustations and agressions on them….more or less on Cell phones in the past 10 years. Appaji’s words in the form of MMS are a lesson a day.
Will learn to be humanly to the inanimate..

Govinda! Govinda! Everything is dependent on God as we all move within Him. To think there is nothing but the Almighty is cause of all suffering. Hearing the Lords’ name sung with such exuberance leaves this devotee without doubt of such. I pray to never think otherwise. It is with the help of my Datta Sadguru, Sri Swamiji that this phenomenon continues to grow. Om Namo Hanumate Namah

If we can keep remembering this message in each and every second of our life and check each and every action that we are doing or thinking to do follows the message , I believe that would bring a very positive change in the way we conduct life.

Its a great blessing this Nandana MMS project is, its like beautiful rain of great messages where I want to get fully drenched, follow the guidance Sadguru is providing and finally be at his Lotus feet all the time.

Pranams to the Lotus feet of Sri Swamiji.

This MMS tells us that God is in everything , even in a stone. In concequense everything on earth should be regarded as a part of God , like the sunrays from the sun. That is what Jesus tells us , “what you have done to the smallest you have done to me ” , how beautifull , so we serve with each action God …. let it be always a noble action , I pray for that . Animate and the inanimate – 2nd August 2012

God is not only the energy of the living beings but is present in subtle form in inanimate also. The entire universe is present in God and God is all pervading in the universe. This message reminds of Bhakta Prahlada who could appreciate the omnipresence of God. This form of Prahlada’s devotion of percieving the animate and inanimate as a part and parcel of God, manifested in the form of Lord Narasimha. A simple saying but an exemplifying message about the omnipresence of God.

Yet another beautiful SGS-MMS video message with detailed explanation about it by Puttuji. In this video you have clearly shown God exists in every atom, He is omnipresent. • on August 3, 2012 at 3:53 am

Superb MMS!! Makes us realize that He is omnipresent. Who or What can better explain this concept than our beloved Sadguru?
The way He converses with trees in Bonsai garden, the way He talks to the animals in the deer park or to the pets (remembering playful Bone and Nerve), how he pampers us humans unrelentingly etc. He has even re-invented Raga Ragini V(a)idya that shows a positive effect on on living beings (both animate and inanimate).
His armory of gadgets and His knowledge about all those gadgets and how he uses them so intelligently for our welfare only testifies His endless love for all objects.
Even the robes that He wears are all cotton, just depicts that He loves all creatures equally.
We are all being taught by one living example, our Appaji and we should all learn each of these lessons with care and even practice them. JGD!!
Thank you Puttuji for the enlightening explanation. JGD!

Jaya Guru Datta Puttuji, Thank you for an excellent interpretation of this universal truth, it brings much clarity to our understanding and thinking. My key take away is that there is only one supreme energy that pervades the entire creation, animate and inanimate things/objects are part of this creation only. In God’s presence all objects enhance their beauty and glow, the video nicely provides the evidence – transformation from inanimate idol to sheer beauty and glow as Lord Datta Venkata in the peaceful presence of Pujya Swamiji, the Supreme Energy. SGD

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank You for today’s divine message, Puttuji! Sri Swamiji really lives this message everyday. Even though Sri Swamiji is above everything and everyone, He loves and cares for everybody, every little creature and every thing. Since Sri Swamiji is omnipresent, He is in everything and everyone and hence all that exists is part and parcel of Lord Datta. The Guru Gita also says “Akhanda mandala kaaram, vyaaptam yena charaacharam. Tatpadam darsitam yena, tasmai Sri Gurave namaha”. This verse means (quoting the meaning as provided by Sri Swamiji) Obeisance to the Sadguru who has enabled me to perceive the Absolute pervading everywhere…
There is also a beautiful bhajan composed by Sri Swamiji “Jaya Guru Datta, Jaya Guru Datta, Jaya Guru Datta, Shri Datta…” which goes on to say that Datta is everything and in everything. Today’s message seems to be one of those instructions that we will need to constantly remind ourselves about. The human mind can easily forget this. Hope we can always remember that everyone and everything is part of Appaji’s family, the Datta family!
The video is beautiful! The image of Appaji next to the moorti of Lord Datta Venkateswara is spellbinding!
Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet!

  4. JGD Every blessed day I am given another great thought to mull over. There is a magnanimous feeling welling up inside me when I ponder these sublime truths. I feel immense gratitude towards my compassionate Sadguru, not only for gifting me with these sublime sayings, but also for making it simple so that my limited intellect can comprehend them. With praises to my living GOD I can only comment internally and outwardly, Jaya Guru Deva Datta Sri Guru Deva Datta

It is true that animate and inanimate are all God’s creation and so part of Him. It is said ‘Idam dravyam panchabhoutikam’ which means all materials are made up of 5 elements panchabhutas. These elements are present in subtle form in all the animate and inanimate, the difference being the ‘Chetas’, i.e the life. God is all pervading and is present as all 5 elements in all creatures, so all animate and inanimate are part and parcel of God.
