  1. Pranams Gurudeva!

From humble beginnings, You’re today sought after by peasants & kings.. they all mean the same to you. From a thatched roof, you’ve created many mansions of worship worldwide for millions to benefit.. yet you hardly stay under one roof for long. Your divine voice soothes an infinite number of souls.. yet silence remains your favourite language.

Seated quiet in that lush green expanse.. you’re telling us you’re not attached to your accomplishments. Nothing can color your pristine nature.

You’re Datta.. whose 24th Guru was Water. In its pristine form, water cleanses & quenches thirst of all it contacts. Yet it seeks the lowliest places. Flowing from the higher to cleanse & quench the lower makes water valuable.

Attachment fans the ego, which then invites the wrath of Kalikamba. We don’t want such fate. We’ll serve your mission without self-interest. Through such detached service, we will find our fulfilment. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji

Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish if a deed comes from heart or with a selfish motive. It is very easy to cheat himself. For this it is the best to have a lot of modesty. This modesty helps me to be honestly with myself and with the other.

Good morning, Swamiji! You are the greatest example of one who does good without speaking. How you work silently in our lives serving us, helping us, guiding us! So often you have told us in the past that if we see something wrong in our ashram or center that we should just fix it, replace it or take care of it rather than complain about it being wrong. What good advice that it is! So much can begin to improve when one adopts that attitude…..may we all learn to help instead of complain when it’s in our power to serve.

Oh yes, we need this lesson, dear Appaji, thank you so much! It is true, it can happen that I (want to) do something good and then discover that there is a selfish part in my motivation to handle. Sometimes it is very small, but still it is there. I’ll do my best to improve myself. Jaya Guru Datta

Selfishness can turn good deeds otherwise like a drop of poison can turn nectar to poison. Absolutely true that good deeds should be done with good Intension too. The music in this video is wonderful. May lord bless us all to have motivation to do good deeds with selfless motive.

Jaya Guru Datta! Dear Appaji, I’m not sure if there ever was a seva I did which was 100% detached. Maybe there always was this wish to be acknowledged and loved by You for what I did. Thank you for giving me lesson after lesson to cut this ego. Sri Guru Datta!

JGD. Dearest Guruji, please give us the strength to continue this self examination and self re-birth, that we may offer our best selves at your most Holy Feet. Until then, please continue to accept our babyish and ego-tainted offerings.

If I may write this old hymn that keeps coming to mind, ” Into Your hands we commend our spirit Oh lord. Into Your hands , we commend our hearts. For we must die to our selves in loving You. Into Your hands we commend our souls.” JGD.

Jai Guru Datta! Selfishness takes away the goodness of anything. I very much like our Sadgurudeva’s advice “without a second thought”. When we do something in this spirit, there is no room for selfishness.
Many many grateful thoughts for our Sadgurudeva

  4. JGD.Any deed with a selfish motive cannot be a good deed,as it will not be beneficial to others but at their costs to the benefit of the selfish one.As clearly pointed out by Our APPAJI we have to do any deed without any selfish motive,to make it a good deed,to the benefit of others even at our costs.SGD

What a nice MMS, Appaji has given today. Puttuji as you stated here in the photography, Appaji is siting in a very relaxing mood and that itself shows His simplicity and humbleness. In this kaiyuga we are so fortunate toget our Sadguru , Who is taking a lot of effort to develop His mission which is ultimately for our benefit only which He is doing with out a selfish motive. From our side through His teachings, Appaji opens our mind and therefore we should also do our best for the development of the mission with out a selfish motive. Puttuji as you explained here, Appaji has come up to this state by His own foot only and due to that Millions are benefited today. Here I recollect Appaji’s MMS 164 wherein Sadguru gives, gives love and wisdom at every turn with out a selfish motive for our benefit only. Further I remember Appaji’s words saying that you do your duty what ever may be and don’t wait for the result. Similarly Puttuji as you explained the Water has got an important role in our life which cleanses and quench thirst. But it’s positionis inthe lower place only. Therefore like water , Appaji is reminding us here to help the real needy in the best possible manner with out expecting anything from them. In such circumstances it shows our humbleness and our Ego will also reduce to that level of water. Hence Appaji we will follow You and do our seva with true devotion and You know what is to be given and not to be given and we simply obey You. JGD.

    Jaya Guru Datta,
selfless action – it is called Karma Yoga. In the Bhagavadgita Lord Krishna explained the principles of “Karma Yoga”, that is, the art of working in Krishna-consciousness. We shall be relieved from the bonds of action. Krishna advised His disciple Arjuna to perform His duties for His satisfaction, and thus remain free from the bondage. Performing the duties without being concerned with the result or the outcome, satisfies the Lord and the performer remains in the liberated state. This is a great art of working.

This sounds easy, dear Puttuji, I require proper guidance. Thank you for Your great help.
And once again, I remember Your word: “Growing to serve – serving to grow”.
    Humble Pranams,
    Sri Guru Datta

jayagurudatta puttuji, sashtangapranams at lotus feet of poojya swamiji, this is very delightful divine message from poojya swamiji, what ever the help or charity should not be done in selfish manner expecting some thing , because , due to god,s grace, and with divine bleeings of poojya swamiji we
are able to help others in small manner, if selfish comes in mind, the work will be polluted, if we keep our mind at sadgurs,s lotus feet selfish thought will not come, once again i pray at lotus feet of poojya swamiji with humble pranams om namo hanumathenamhaa

Jaya gurudatta. in this age most of us are tied down with selfishness and have forgotten what ought to have been attained. we are all very fortunate indeed to have the very life of Sri Swamiji as an example of the selfless life Swamiji leads for the good of all of us. Let us all try to inculcate it into our lifes too. Swamiji give us the strenght to change .Jgd

    Jaya Guru Datta Puttuji,

Very true…. My actions during my first few interactions with Pujya Sri Swamiji were selfish and result oriented…. now if i look back, it looks silly about my actions before a god who know past, present and future.
Sri Swamiji said once, Donation given by right hand should not be known to other hand, that is how we should give….which means we should not do for name and fame.
Thank you Appaji for the great MMS message.

    Sri Guru Datta

When we see a person sitting on a bench lonely, we should try to give a little cheering up.
If we do so with love, pity and compassion, then it`s the right way.
We will also feel better afterwards.

  5. His Holiness is in absolute tranquil mood in this photograph. Jaya Guru Datta and Sri Guru Datta.

When we follow qur heart everything is fine, when we act out of principles or with interest our soul or we are not happy. Om namo hanumate namaha.

    • Glory of Rama on December 8, 2012 at 1:13 pm

Doing something because Appaji has told me to do it, works for me. There is no judging whether it is a good deed, whether it benefits others, whether it gets recognized or appreciated, whether it is a worthless task, or whether it is within my capacity. If I think that I am doing good, and that it is my strength and talent that is getting the work done, the ego is already built into the task. It is never my intention, initiative, strength, or intelligence. It is all His. The reasons for His making me do something is known only to Him. How it benefits I do not know. But I know that Sadgurudeva will never embark on anything without a very genuine beneficial purpose, be it building temples and maintaining them, singing and propagating bhajans, chanting mantras and having the world chant them along, raising awareness about parrots or protecting plant species through Bonsai. We are all only fingers that can scratch only if our Lord and Master orders and gives us the power to do so. JGD

    • Archana Penukonda on December 16, 2012 at 1:55 am

Jaya Guru Datta! It is natural for the human mind to expect reward or recongnition for a good deed. But, good deeds are only opportunities provided by God. These are opportunities we should be greateful for, because they expand our thinking, they make our Sathguru happy and they are possible only by the grace of Sathguru. Perhaps, we should be grateful to the recipient for allowing us to earn some good karma.
Every MMS message is a glimpse into the attributes of Sathgurudeva. Sri Swamiji selflessly helps everyone that approaches Him. He knows that some people may never return to thank Him, they may even forget that Sri Swamiji helped them. But that doesn’t stop Him from helping them. On the other hand, if we know that someone that’s requesting our help now will walk away without gratitude after, we tend to withold from helping. This MMS is asking us to help without such selfish motives. If we are in a position to help, we should and we shoud mentally offer those actions at the feet of Sathgurudeva. This is easier said than done, but practicing such actions as if they are commands from our Sathguru will get us in to the habit. Obeisances at the Holy Lotus Feet.

    JGD Appaji
Charity begins at home. It is very easy to give selflessly to strangers, but we need to implement the same in all our relations around us. Let us strive to be selfless and giving in all our actions – Giving not only means money..but love, warmth, support and strength unconditionally. Appaji, this MMS will be a constant reminder for us on how to give unconditionally to everyone around us.
