  1. When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, everything is lost.
Lord Dattatreya had 24 Gurus.. all of them entities of Mother Nature. Yugas later, these entities teach the same lessons even today. Character was & is still the most valuable nourishment man can get.
If the animate & inanimate creations have so many virtues, Man who is the crown of all creation must be capable of more. Unfortunately he is so consumed by self-interest, which like a black hole just consumes without giving out anything in return. Character erosion begins here, leading one into absolute poverty.
    Pranams Sathguru!
You are Guha, who dwells within us, lighting up that blackhole, and redeeming us from its negative pull. When we internalize the essence of “OM: I am existence”, we learn to respect one another, building character in the process. Thanks a ton for the enrichment! We follow you.
    Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji

The MMS is self explanatory and is an eye opener to all those who feel that wealth means acquiring property in the form of gold, lands, etc and for those who weigh or scale the people with the material wealth that is at their possession. Being honest, speaking truth, helping the needy, feeding the hungry, respecting the elders and women, faith in God ,standing on virtue in all situations…., if a human lacks such noble traits he is the real poor person. These traits are to cultivated in young minds during the schooling. It helps the children to respect the traditions, parents and elders which in turn brings peace and happiness to the home and society.Pranams Appaji for the message. The role instructors like You is paramount in the present day conflicts. JGD.

    • Archana Penukonda on February 3, 2013 at 1:56 pm

Jaya Guru Datta! We know from Sri Swamiji’s life history that Swamiji and His entire family only knew to give, not take. Swamiji’s maternal grandfather, Swami Narahari Teertha, Mata Jayalakshmi were all stellar examples of givers, even if they didn’t have much to give(materially speaking). They had all the virtues of saints and never attached themselves to material possessions. Reflecting on this MMS, the real benchmark of poverty is based on our character. We are wealthy if we are virtuous. We are wealthy if we are willing to share whatever we have, whether it’s material possessions or providing support, love, consideration, compassion etc. It’s those who cannot do these that are poor. If I had a lot of wealth, but lacked these good qualities, I’d be poor indeed. Our Datta Sathguru makes us wealthy; He cleanses us and then slowly fills our mind and heart with good qualities. May we be the wealthy souls that our Sathguru can be proud of. Pranams at the Holy Lotus Feet!

Today Appaji has given a good lesson and that to about our character through this MMS 249. It is a fact that if we lost wealth , we can get it again through our hard work. Similarly if one part of our body have any problem, we can manage it with our will power to certain extend. But if there is any black remark in our character , that will affect our carrier of life. We should always learn in our life the methods of –Give and Take policy . In otherwords we should not be selfish in our life and in our every action. The MMS 188 is related to this concept. Further we should have also a broad mind to help others with in our capacity. More over for any noble cause, we should also share our views with others. At the same time practically , we can do or apply these things, if our mind is tuned in such a way for which we should have a good quality or character. To develop this , especially in this kaiyuga , we have to follow the spiritual path through our Sadguru , Who will guide us properly in our life, bring us from darkness to light. Therefore Appaji , we got your concept and follow your words and teachings strictly to mould our character also properly so that we will get rid of from our ego, jealous , pride and selfishness etc and thereby do our seva to your mission also within our capacity in all possible manner. The photography and the bhajan on lord Datta are very apt for this MSG since lord Datta is kshipra Prasadi . JGD.

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji. Lack of good qualities itself is poverty – what a great summation of the lessons. We are praying to Appaji’s lotus feet to be able to develop the good qualities and thus not be poor. The invocation of Dattatreya and His dearest disciple Guhanatha are very well suited for the MMS and the message therein. Thanks a lot Appaji.

    Jaya Guru Datta,
the Datta-Family is inspiration to live a good life – a life according to dharma. In Kaliyuga we are attracted to the (ugly) black whole. May Lord Vishnu give protection and may we all walk in the path of our beloved Sadguru. This way we will not fall – we will re-gain the will-power and overcome difficulties and develop good qualities and work on “going up the stairs and not down”. This is what I believe with all my heart.
    Prostration to Sri Swamiji,
    Sri Guru Datta

So we should always have this qualities by your blessings for our welfare.

As Puttuji explains it very well, extreme self interest, while only consuming (like a black whole),
not giving anything back respectively, is making a person absolutely poor.
Though on material level, it seems the other way round. One can get rich by this activity.

To solve this personality problem – only circling around one`s own person –
self forgetfulness in sercice can help, without conditions, as Sri Swamiji often states.

It will burn our impurities of the personality factor – and ego has a chance to vanish …
    How long will it take?

Marvellous audiovisuals and message. Person who follows the holy spiritual path is always rich with his good qualities as devotee become part of Almighty in comparison to HIS qualities. Person with complete belief, trust and devoted to the omnipotent Almighty is always strong to bear any difficulties as they don’t affect his mental stability considerably. Such person with devotion is rich with his qualities and thoughts only with Almighty’s blessings, for sure will always lead a peaceful and happy life. Happiness is in what we perceive, God will surely give us the strength to tolerate any circumstances in life with a smile. What else do we require than HIS blessings. May lord bless us all with good qualities to be HIS beloved child.
