  1. Close your eyes. Think of your enemy – One who threatened or harmed you. What feelings come up in your mind? How does the body feel? Now see Gurudeva’s smiling face in this MMS. Can you feel all those negative feelings vanish? His smile is so divine, He fills our heart with peace, happiness and compassion for all. No room for hatred.. even for our enemies.

You & your enemy hate each other. Think: Why pray to God asking Him to harm that enemy? If God says “So be it”.. what comes next? Hatred for you will only further increase in that enemy heart. Right? So who suffers again? What goes around, comes around. Isn’t that reason enough why the Mahatma advised Ahimsa?

Namaskarams Appaji ! You’re our Ananta.. In your blissful care, we’ve no hatred for our enemies. You’re our Achyuta (The immutable, changeless one). We pray you transform our enemies. Achyuta – because, only a changeless mould can shape up (transform) its contents. Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji.

Good morning, Swamiji, and Jaya Guru Datta for this good reminder to pray for the transformation of our enemies. Swamiji always tells us that our enemies are our greatest friends. That was a hard lesson for me to learn, but in many ways, I have found them to be a great blessing because they have given me a chance to grow spiritually. For that I am grateful for the pain I’ve endured in some situations. In others, I am sad because betrayal has cost dear friendships and destroyed trust. Prayer for transformation must be the only hope in cases like that….Sri Guru Datta!

Every human beeing is a child of God. How we could pray to god that He should harm them. God loves all and we should try to make the same.

Jaya Guru Datta. What a peaceful, compassionate and loving message from Appaji. I heard it many times in Appaji’s discourses that we shouldnt pray for destroying/harming our enemies. We should rather pray for their transformation. For, the destruction will only increase the hatred among people thereby making a very dangerous society. A peace-loving saadhaka can only aspire for a peaceful society, where his/her practice to accomplish the REAL goal of life can be reached. Thank You Appaji for reminding the essence of proper social living.

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji. This is such a wonderful message that asks all the living beings to be worthy of the life and aspire for the next level. This quote reminds me of an episode from the Life History. In one situation, Appaji thinks to Himself that ‘the difference creeps in only due to duality’. If that duality is annihilated, there is no reason to hate/differentiate/discriminate anyone/anything. What a lovely upadesha!!! If there is no duality, there is no reason to believe that THE OTHER OBJECT will harm you and hence there is no hatred. you cannot hate yourself :))) what a life changing MMS. Thanks a lot Appaji

Would I get angry and smash a plate of freshly cooked food just because salt is lacking in it? Would I pour a cup of fresh, hot coffee down the sink just because it lacks sugar? That would be foolish, wouldn’t it? Sprinkle some salt on the food and it would be delicious! Add some sugar and I can enjoy the refreshing cup of coffee! Is it not the same with persons that I do not like? Why lose precious relationships just because a little something is lacking in the other person according to my view? Why fill my heart with hate and vengeance just because the mix of qualities in another person does not exactly suit my taste? Why spit my hatred into my prayers and seek God’s punishment upon the people I detest? After all, am I that perfect? I had done the above and Swamiji has opened my eyes since, to my foolishness and the futility of my actions. People are how God has made them. God knows best. Today I am going to deliberately pray for all those who I remember have upset me one time or another. JGD

This world is nothing but a projection of my own mind, Sadgurudeva has demonstrated to me. He has made a general statement as such in a previous MMS. When I love others, I am loving the people who exist in my own mind. When I wish harm upon others, I am wishing harm upon those who are a part of myself. As a result, I hurt only myself.. There is nothing outside of me. Please help me to be totally at peace with myself, Appaji, and with my surroundings all of which in fact exist within me as an illusion. Jaya Guru Datta

How beautifully Swamiji transforms his devotees! Most devotees would have observed remarkable changes in the personalities of people after they have come in contact with Sri Swamiji. This proves that change is possible. Guru can work wonders. The greedy become generous. The harsh become kind. The restless become patient. The lazy become hard working. The selfish become considerate. The arrogant become meek. The envious become co-operative. The sluggish become active. The clumsy become efficient. The rude become polite. The grumpy become cheerful. The obstinate become reasonable. When change can be brought about so gently and compassionately by Guru, why wish for harm upon those whom we dislike? Our prayer for harm to others only spits out our hatred and ill-nature and displays a mind that is intolerant and ugly! Our anger and hatred hurt only us. Others are bad towards us now because we had hurt others before. The more we hate, the more we are hated in return. Same it is with love. JGD

Resplendent color play. Oh Appaji, we need to simply be non-judgemental about others. With the fat ego I house within me, this is daunting. But after going through painful separations, being abusive, unrelenting cursing episodes, all I realized was that I was dying a silent death deep inside. Thats when you taught me to remain silent. For long time, I assumed that remaining speechless is silence. But the underlying meaning was that I need to shut my mind and thoughts. That was all that I needed. I experienced the healing effect of a silent mind. My abuses and curses miraculously turned into prayers. I realized that I have started praying for the betterment of the people who hurt me knowingly and also for those people whom I assumed hurt me. Your MMS which says that Gods always bless ‘So be it’ was a blatant reminder for me to clean my messed up mind. Thanks for patiently teaching me this secret for happiness. Really Appaji, this lesson has made me peaceful deep inside and that keeps me smiling always. JGD.

    Jaya Guru Datta,
I can not imagine to pray to god for hurting my enemy. I could imagine myself being carried away by anger and than I could maybe think of doing so. I believe the only way out is to pray for help and strength to deal with my anger. Without the anger I can wish transformation of the enemy. May the Lord Almighty show mercy and remove our anger.

And one more time I remember Swamiji saying:

    Follow the master
    faith in god
    face the devil
    finish the game

There are different kinds of enemies. The big enemies (maybe the boss at work or a neighbour,) people we are dealing with since many years. Being asked by somebody we would even be able to say: “Yes, I hate this person”. The big enemie I succeeded to let go. I made the decision to finish this miserable state. I started to include this person regularly in my prayers and only wish them well. I prayed for them for a good live and happiness and good health. It worked!

What about the group of “the little instant-enemies”? The careless car driver, the women at the cash register at the mall, the bad gossiping secretary? Here I want to improve awarness. With the help of Sadguru I am able to be balanced and peaceable. I will not allowed myself to get carried away by bad feelings!

    Dear Puttuji,
Sri Swamiji introduced not only not hating enemies but actually pray that they be transformed. If this were truly put into practice, prayer itself will be very pleasant. The experience should bring tremendous peace. As much simple as it sounds, it is that tough to implement or even to be neutral about those I dislike. Somehow what starts out to be a very pleasant train of thought eventually seems to stop and dwell with total focus on something unpleasant or
some one that I don’t seem to like. All the reasons I attribute to such persons can well be in me also. It needs the anugraham ( grace) of my Sadguru to turn me around to the blissful state of total kindness to all. It will happen. Jaya Guru Datta

Jai Guru Datta. Sri Gurubyo Namaha. Millions of Pranams to the Lotus feet of Pujya Sri Swamiji.

  5. JGD & SGD. In the first place enmity should not be developed. There can be difference in understanding or opinions but a debate is needed to come to a conclusion acceptable to all. Forgive ness is only solution to enmity. Carrying hatred towards some body is dangerous to ones own body and mind. The Mind would go on working schemes against the one who is hated, the Body go on working to fight the one who is hated. Instead of all these negative developments better to forgive and genuinely forget.

Sri Swamiji is giving us a very good MMS on not harming our enemies but ask God to Transform them. Transformation though is an individual thing, there is a necessity of a Guru to guide us and Bless us in this process. We all make enemies and have enemies. There are enemies within and there are enemies external. The internal enemies of desire, anger can be handled only with the chanting of namasankeertana of the Lord and being in peace with ourselves by the Grace of our Guru. The external enemies are beyond our control and only a Guru can transform them. We cannot get angry at them. They are God’s creations and have to lead a life that they are endowed with. I always make an endeavour not to criticize any one but to understand the other person and make corrections to my talk, behaviour and attitude. This brings peace to me and respect from the other person towards me. Jaya Guru Datta.

    Jai Guru Datta !!

Sadgurudeva is Achyuta, Ananta, Karunakara. The whole universe is Sri Swamiji’s creation. Then what right do I have to pray for the detriment of His other creations? The only way to seek Pujya Sadgurudeva’s Grace is to pray for the well-being and transformation of His creations. Appaji will be happy to help us then.
Dear Appaji, thank you for opening my eyes.

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank You for today’s lesson, Puttuji! When we stop for a minute to think of who our enemies are, may be some faces do pop in to our head. But, if we analyze the details with a cool head, it’s not hard to see that more often than not, it’s the situation that turns them in to enemies. It may be hard to be rational in heat of the moment, but that’s when we’ll have to apply this lesson. We will just need to pray to Appaji to give us the buddhi to cool our temper and transform the enemy. This lesson must be taken as a gospel and simply applied because we all know that when we are angry, we cannot think rationally. If we wait till we vent our anger, we are losing the battle against anger. Please bless us to have the buddhi you teach us through these MMS messages, Appaji! Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet!

jgd pranaams Swami ji, limits of Your compassion and protection for humanity, Satguru Ji You are helping us to be aware, because even the thought of having an enemy can cause a rebirth. Therefore if we feel that we are unable to bear some person’s nature of lying or jealousy we must pray to Lord Guru for the transformation of that personality. Actually when we start practicing the thought of non duality we understand that we are all His and the three qualities of Maya, satva, rajasa and tamasa are playing. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji says ‘ na ko vairy na ko begaanaa ei sammata Saadhu te paayi (saints bless this good knowledge that there is no enemy or other person ) ‘. thank You Parmatma for keeping us on right track. onhn sgd

oh GOD ! when will the transformation of the enemies take place, possible when we take a decision to

At least we can stop retaliating those enemies.. Return them with a beneficial act..Difficult though,
very difficult, yet His training should mould us . .

Jai Guru Datta Appaji – Achyuta bhajan in Keeravani raga gives an amazing intensive cleansing experience in our heart chakra (anahata).
This teaching that you imparted to me ‘Heart to Heart’ 8 yrs ago is the biggest miracle of my life. Whenever I am hurt/affected by others, I attach ‘Datta’ as their last name in my mind – whenever I think of them or interact with them… immediately, my hatred reduces by leaps and bounds and calms my mind down and helps me realize that it is our Lord Datta who is teaching me something valuable through this difficult experience, while decimating my negative karma (paapa). This has been the most cleansing experience of my life. I had a hard time dealing with difficult people prior to that experience. Appaji – Thank a million to your compassionate teachings and causing transformation in our hearts!

Someone once said “Anger and Hatred are poisons that you drink hoping that the other person dies”. So Anger and Hatred hurt us before they can hurt others… no need to spread these negative energies in this chaotic world. Here’s hoping Appaji Grace His compassion on us as well as our enemies equally, so we all get transformed internally to establish ‘Rama Rajya’ in this world once again! Jai Sri Ram!
    Sri Guru Datta!

Very likely one of the most difficult practices to embrace. Our Datta Sadguru preaches Love and this is the highest transformative power that is God. If one can no longer hate the “enemy” how can that one be an enemy?
We must remember that “enemy” is nothing other than a reflection of ourself. Praying to God to transform myself and everything is transformed. Jaya Guru Datta

JGD. I am fully in that battle ground now. “Be fearless”, “Be truthful always”, “Love your enemy”, if left up to me I would avoid this battle, as I suppose I have for years now. But there is ” Protect the weak”. So much of these last few MMSs……In the beginning I was told Kriya means balanced action. This requires quite a balancing act, Guruji. May all that You have taught somehow come to a higher level of fruition! Please grant me strength. Please grant be patience. And as always may Your will be done, regardless of outcome. JGD.

what beauty in this mms !
it must be an old evolutionary remnant that we consider anyone who harms us as an enemy and react with the flight or flight reaction of our autonomic nervous system. sri swamiji teaches us to develop further and become full responsible members of a global family and of an inner world that knows only friends (and inner enemies we have to conquer with sadgurus grace). harming anyone would be harming ourselves. our beloved sadguru is giving us fundamental truths in such an easy and beautiful way !

Prayers are to seek help from God to bless us in tough situations and guide us towards the right path. Prayers are to be done with good intensions to help ourselves and not to be done with wrong intentions of hurting others. If one can pray God to transform their enemy, then it’s of benefit because there would be no one to disturb or hurt and will no repeated circumstances of pain. God blesses us for what we pray and deserve.  Like in earlier message by Sri Swamiji as “God blesses so be it”…. It would be of constructive help to ourselves by praying with good intentions for ourselves and others. Transformation in enemy gives us peace and harmony. Thank you Puttuji for sharing this fantastic message of Sri Swamiji, I’ll implement this thought from now on…

Pray to God to transform your enemies ~ 3 Oct 2012

Namaste Puttuji, nice video with music of wonderful bhajan. Pray to God to transform your enemies but not to harm them is a good quote. Transforming a human being is a very long process because human mind is a highly complicated network. Similar birds flock together. So in this kaliyuga, there are many people with similar characters of jealous, greed etc etc. Many people find an enemy in a spiritual sadhaka who is turning good. But spiritual sadhaka though feels others as his enemies in the beginning, more purer he become, less and less enemies he has until a day when he doesn’t have any enemies. It is others who have no knowledge of his characters treat him as an enemy because they see their characters in him too. So it looks like such a sadhaka have many enemies. Infact many people see him as an enemy but he don’t have enemies. Namaste Puttuji. Thank You.

Appaji always says “pray that everyone gets sadbuddhi”
Is anyone really our enemy? or are we just projecting our inner enemies out.. The real enemy or hatred is in us… Lets pray to remove and eradicate the true enemies, residing in ourselves by listening to Appaji’s music and following His teachings, automatically we realize no enemies exist anywhere.
