  1. Our prayer to Ganesha: My first (mudal) prostrations (vanakkam) are for (aagum) you (unakku).
Is devotion just about prostration, as a ritual to please Ganesha? Are we doing this because we have an expectation that we expect Him to meet? Is prayer just a petition asking Him for more, or, is it much more than that?
If we are serious about understanding devotion, we are invited to learn from flowers. They bloom without any expectations from the world around. They open up and submit themselves to the butterfly that comes to pollinate them. Flowers reach the feet of the Lord in devotion and happily dry up in the bliss of having achieved their life’s mission. To them, devotion is all about complete self-surrender.
    Pranams Ganapathirupa Sathguru!
We put our hands together above our heads in surrender at your lotus feet. We pray you fly in and pollinate our inner self, making us strong & humble enough to serve your cause.
    Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji

Jaya guru data.Pranams Appaji for letting us to know the definition of devotion. The most enviable quality of Lord is easy approachability. Lord and Sadguru lavishes their compassion and affection on those who choose shelter in them and who surrenders to them. We see a fine example to it in Ramayana. Discarding the objections raised by Sugriva whom He had befriended earlier, Rama took Vibhishana under His protection without looking into his antecedents. So is also our Swamiji, once we surrender to Him, swamiji guards us just like eye lids that protect the eye. Dear Swami AVADHOOTA

This nice video, is soooo blissful and opened my heart. How we can surrender our self, it is possible by will APPAJI, I think it is the same with love, with devotion, with meditation, we are not able to reach this by willpower. May be at is a long way, to follow YOU and follow YOU and follow YOU and than we never think about us but only Y O U ~~~~~~
Jaya Guru Datta with much love

    JGD Appaji
Very cute MMS with a very deep message!
How true is our devotion.. is it only about asking and asking from Appaji? Are we following Him completely, are we thinking about what Appaji wants..we can truly get His grace by giving Him what He wants.. and He only wants our true devotion, our selfless seva and our spiritual enlightenment. Even His wants are also only to benefit us alone.. Such a divine and true love can only be possible by our dearest Appaji! Lets try to be truly His devotees!

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji – Thanks a lot for a yet another important lesson. Even in Nava Vidha Bhaktis, Appaji has taught us that the atma nivedana – self surrender is the best and most important form of devotion. I vividly remember the story Appaji narrated about Sage Narada, King Janaka and others. Sri Guru Datta

Jaya Guru Datta! Surrendering to God helps so much to overcome fear and anxiety. When we surrender ourselves it is only the divine who guides us, little by little removing our egos that caused the fear in the first place. I pray that each day I may surrender more fully to God and Guru. May thy will be my will…Sri Guru Datta!

My beloved SADGURU, please help us again and again to surrender ourselves to YOU. As YOU know, in our culture we don’t learn to be devoted to a true spiritual master and it takes a lot of courage for me.

According to me, today’s MMS has got a deep inner meaning and value. By reading this we can realise the need and importance of a Sadguru in our life who will show the path to devotion through His teachings in the spiritual way. Especially in this kaiyuga , we need our Sadguru to guide us in the right path and also to bring out from darkness to light. The meaning of the word ( Guru) itself says this. If we go through GuruGeetha , then we can understand about this concept. The Sloka 43 says that Guru Himself as Brahma, Vishnu , and Siva. Therefore we have to see our Swamiji in this form and not only that in this kaiyuga He is the incarnation of all these three and that is our lord Datta. Then coming to the word surrendering, incidentally , I remember Appaji’s words saying that , you should try to register your name In His heart. If you think deeply to do like that , we have to surrender to Him our Ego, selfishness , jealous and our pride etc and that lead to true devotion. At the sametime to get rid of from these habits, we have to follow Appaji’s teachings and that is listen to His healing Music, involve in Namasangeerthana , in puja, inHoma, in Yoga, and what ever Appaji says immediately obey His instruction. If we follow like that , it is our self surrender to him and that is the mark of true devotion. The photography and the Bhajan are very apt for the MSG. This is because , Lord Ganapathy is having all these good qualities and that is why before when we do any puja or homa, first pray to Ganapathy who will take away all obstacles. JGD.

When I was in the Ashram this past December, I heard a volunteer say on the mic that when we come to the Ashrama, we should come, not as guests, but as sevaks, as volunteers. That is how a real devotee would think. In prostrating to the Lord, we may be asking the Lord to bless us. Nothing wrong with it. But, if we knew the Lord better, we would perhaps just thank Him for everything we already have. I loved what Prasad Anna once said on Facebook: When you pray to God, don’t give him your wish list, just report to duty. The Guru wishes us more good than we can wish for ourselves. The Guru loves us more than anyone else can love us. So, surrendering to a Guru then would mean we are giving ourselves the guarantee of eternal happiness. Once we understand that, we should give up the urge to question the events in our lives, for He takes over the reins of our life. Please bless us Appaji to be Your true devotees, always!

    Jai Guru Datta Appaji _/\_!!

Pujya Sathgurudeva: Datta Swarupa, On Devotion,Feb 1987:
Archana (worship) is invariably followed by Keertana (devotional
singing) and Vandana (prostrations). In fact, without the latter, the
former remains incomplete. All the three types should culminate in
Atmarpana (self-surrender) to ones Ishta Devata (chosen deity). One has
to surrender and then forget the body and the mind, the outer world and
    lastly ones self.

    Sathgurudeva , Jnaana Saagar:
True devotion is reflected in offering the best things and services to God. “My lying down is prostration to God, whatever I eat is an offering to Him, what all I speak is just the chanting of mantras and hymns in His praise, to which ever extent I walk is Pradaksina even if I just sit doing nothing, it is meditation on Him.” !!

    Saranagata dinarta paritrana parayanam
Narayanam vibhum vande smatrugami sanovatu !! Datta Stava 4 (MMS 38)
Datta’s tests are the toughest ones to crack. But once we have passed it, it’s eternal bliss after that. Sathgurudeva, bless us with a state of mind wherein we always remember You, forgetting the difference between sorrow and happiness.

Siddhi Pradayaka, Buddhi Pradayaka,Dattapeethavasa, Saccidananda Govinda, surrendering at your Divine Lotus Feet !! Kindly accept !!

I can give flowers, this is nice,
I can spend money and device,
I can give presents every day,
    and all the bills I may then pay;
what really matters is my heart,
devote my-self, this is the art…

Vivid presentation, all of us at some point of life have a query as what are we up to? Are we truly devoted? Amazingly simple assessment criteria is been presented here as Sri Swamiji message that conveys the mind set we need to possess and all of us can check it out for themselves. “Self-surrender” sometime I personally feel is more difficult than voluntary giving up of life example in battle field for our country as soldiers do…. because giving up life requires strong determination for a good cause, but self-surrender means we are almost living toys without any feelings of duality. Sometimes i wonder is that state possible? Still i keep telling myself, practise makes a man perfect. May lord bless us all with true devotion so that we surrender ourselves to Almighty

  3. Going back…Catching up!
What a Jazzy MMS! You know, Jazz was created from and out of sorrow! The slaves had no other way than t surrender to their God…to the God! But, in their call, they had a prayer and that prayer with song, becoame Jazz i believe!
We can only surrender ourselves withall our pathetic downers and negatives cuz we have no other alternatives but to surrender!
the slaves surrendered in song and mood! I guess in their own type of soulful RAGAS, and humankind is blessed for that, as we now have JAZZ!
Can we ever surrender enough? No! Our surrenders seem to be too much!
Butgod, knows all our weakness and is just waitng for ur surrenders!
