  1. Daddy urges his little son to swim in the pool. The boy is afraid because he has never jumped into the water before. So, daddy just pushes sunny into the water, and after a few moments of struggle, sunny starts swimming. He is now so excited that he will not come out of the pool.

The plane has just made an emergency landing. There is fire and smoke in the tail. The passengers are afraid, are shocked, and are in a state of panic. A few of them faint. The young airhostesses have no time for fear. They display courage and enthusiasm in getting passengers to wear their life jackets, open the emergency doors and slide out into the water.

Nik Wallenda crosses the Niagra Falls walking on a tight rope. While spectators gasp and watch in disbelief and fear, Nik is focused and deliberate in every step he takes on the wire. He has no time for fear. He has rehearsed this enough, and has prepared himself well for this moment. He accomplishes this feat which no one did in almost a century.

What makes people respond differently to very risky, unpredictable, potentially harmful, dangerous situations ? Why some of us face our fears with enthusiasm, overcome them and then enjoy the excitement that follows ? While some of us shiver at the very thought of crossing the road, stepping on an escalator, riding a bicycle.. or making a presentation to the Big Boss at work ?

Knowledge, faith and love are the antidote to fear. The wise know and use what they know. Fools may know but do not use their knowledge. Imagine being that airhostess, or being Nik. They trained well, to do what they never did in their lives but had to.. with complete faith in their trainer, complete faith in themselves, and they loved their jobs. Doing things that you haven’t done before means you shake yourself out of your comfort zone. Calls for courage ( Not the absence of fear but the willingness to act in spite of the fear ) and enthusiasm ( passion ) to overcome the unknown obstacles that may come your way. This why this MMS invokes Lord Ganesha. He is the Lord of Knowledge ( married to Riddhi / Buddhi or Knowledge ), and He is Vigneshwara – the Lord of Obstacles.. removes them when you respectfully pray to him. With His blessings, you act with courage and enthu in the material and in the spiritual realm.. You scale newer heights.. You become wiser.

When a school bus full of children was about to hit a speeding truck on Mysore – Bangalore Road, His Holiness bore the brunt of that recklessness.. acting with courage and enthusiasm to save those young lives. He is Lord Ganapathi himself who removed the obstacle that could have killed them. This is how His Holiness ‘walks the talk’ when He says “The wise lose neither courage nor enthusiasm even during times of danger”. We will follow you Appaji.. always chanting ‘Om Gam Ganapathaye Namaha’ and always acting with courage and with enthusiasm. We know no danger, because we know your grace. By doing so, we will be the wise ones you will be proud of.
With koti pranams at your holy feet, Jaya Guru Datta.

I wish, that I could be wise. Perhaps the first step is done. I try really to have some courage, even when situations are difficult. This courage comes out of my knowledge, that Swamiji is always with me and helping me. He even helps, when I have made a mistake. He is not a guru which let devotees alone in their life, even the actions are not so wise. I am happy and try really to act in a manner, that Swamiji is happy with me. Like this a can better feel Him in my life and that gives me more courage for my things.

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji! Seeing Ganapathy dancing along the seashore gives me hope as Hurricane Isaac batters us today! I know you are with us…Shata Shloki Ramayana is playing in two rooms, Hanuman Chalisa in another continuously. All that happens is God’s will and I am grateful to Appaji for throwing this little baby into the water to learn to swim! Now much needed water will be brought to the drought regions in the midwest…now people here will have a chance to serve in a deeper way. It’s all your grace… I pray that all the devotees will remember the Gulf Coast in their prayers today. May all those trapped and all those in emergency services have all the courage and resources they need to face and complete this karma! Sri Guru Datta! Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha!

Jaya Guru Datta! Just minutes before opening today’s message, I was admiring some white lilies, just like these, that a friend gave to me. Seeing them at the beginning of this video was like a little wink from Appaji reminding me that He is with me, always and every where!

I think that with Wisdom comes a steadfastness of focus and a peaceful state of being. It comes from the lessons we’ve learned through our sadhana, our karma and our devotion. Wisdom is an anchor in an often rocky ocean. And although courage and enthusiasm are admirable traits, I feel that wisdom is more sattvic and is the result of our courage and enthusiasm. Therefore, in any situation, turning to the wisdom of the saints and to our own inner wisdom is the more enduring path.

My thoughts are with everyone in the path of the hurricane this morning. May your inner wisdom comfort and guide you. Om Namo Hanumate Namaha!

JGD Puttuji!! This message is a timely reminder for me. I am feeling very anxious about certain legal formalities that have to be completed soon. Nothing seems to be coming my way. Was feeling restless. This MMS came as a personalized message for me. Reminds me that everything is god’s will and that we should listen to the words of saints. Listening to your MMS and feeling confident that things will be fine soon. Indeed, there is light at th eend of every tunnel 🙂 There is your grace that is upon us at all times. Also, reminds me that Faith is the only antidote. It can move mountains.
Infact, this MMS is good mix of so many earlier MMSs. Love you Appaji!! JGD 🙂

Humble prostrations to the lotus feet of Puttugamji again and again for showing us the hidden treasures.

With these MMS messages everyday, You are making us knowledgeable and from there wiser, Appaji. We need not fear and we need not lose hope, for we know that You are always there supporting us and protecting us, should we falter. Bhgavadgita (and many scriptures) firmly states that we should leave “fear” to make spiritual progress. With Appaji as the captain of our journey, let there be no fear in His children, as we march forward in the path shown by Him. Sri Guru Datta.

    • pushpa on August 29, 2012 at 11:49 am

Not to loose courage and enthusisam in dangerous times is moore dificult than in peacefull times. I pray to Appaji always for help to do the good action. Om namo hanumate namaha.

  2. Jaya Guru Datta, This MMS message is particularly inspiring. Firstly, it starts off showing the image of a flower and slowly, as each flower opens, beautiful fragrance with the word ‘Gam’ is released. The next scene resembles a forest during times of winter, cold and harsh climate conditions. It seems as these nature backgrounds and scenery enforces the message that Sri Swamiji has given us today because like nature, everyone has to go through some period of repose before blossoming into something beautiful. Sri Ganapati pervades the entire universe and in this message, we are reminded that by offering prayers and worship, all of our obstacles will be destroyed. Nothing can be done successfully without the will of Maha Ganapati, which is why before every pooja, ramayana or katha, we do Ganapati pooja, or say ‘Sri Maha Ganapataye Namaha, (Sri Saraswatyai, Sri Padavallabha, Narasimha Saraswati, Sri Guru Dattatreyaya Namaha’) of which Ganapati is invoked first to conquer all obstacles. Swamiji has recently enforced that everything is the will of God. The wise shall remember this and continue to be steadfast in their prayer and worship because by knowing Sri Swamiji is with us, we will never lose courage and by chanting his beautiful mantras and songs, we will never lose enthusiasm. Thank you Appaji, for this beautiful message and for continuing to strive for the welfare of your devotees. Jai Veera Hanuman.

    • Suri Duvvuri on August 29, 2012 at 7:23 pm

Dear Puttuji, This is a much needed reminder to all of us. It is effective since it comes from some one who experienced all the dangers and frustrations personally for the sake of His followers. What is more, He also knows what is coming and does not panic but take on dangers voluntarily….all just to save even one follower….let alone a bus load of kids. And then llke any normal human being, exercise Himself to normal health. I, like a normal human being, do not wish for dangers to come my way. But I know that if I am encountered with a dangerous situation, just by my mere thinking of Him, He will be by my side to support me through the ordeal ( Actually, if I am so shocked that I do not think of my sadguru momentarily….He will still be there). His love is such. Jaya Guru Datta

So many others have been saved by His miraculous intervention all over the world. We will be doing Sadguru a disservice if we ever lose courage or enthusiasm while in His care.

The clip of moving through the mountain, made us feel as if, we are having darshana of Maha Ganapati. The point where the video concludes, it appears as if there is a face engraven on the mountain in the left!
The message for the day is very motivating!
The colour combination in the video, the orange on black, explains to us that the wise bloom with courage & enthusiasm in any circumstance & remain radiant!

Why do the wise lose neither courage or enthusiasm even during danger?
It is because, Ganapati bestows wisdom, making one wise & drives away all obstacles, therefore helping the disciple retain His courage & enthusiasm. Such is the power of the syllable, ‘Gam’.

Our sadguru, who is also referred to as Arka Swami by some, blesses & guides us.
If the dry trees in the clip signify danger, the water & the erect posture of trees shows the presence of courage & enthusiasm.
Our prayers that we rightly follow all His instructions.
Just like, while moving through the mountains, all mountains appear the same, the wisdom bestowed will help us see the world as one & the same!
The animation of Ganapathy travelling on the mouse was nice! He is moving towards us, we await His Darshana. Though, we, His children may be slow & ignorant, He drives us towards our destination, just like Krishna drove Arjuna, in Mahabharata, (maybe penned by Ganesha).
    Om Maha Ganapathaye Namah.

Your explanation motivates us thoroughly to be courageous. Your comment made me sit erect on my chair! Feel like watching the video & reading the comment again & again!
We pray to Sadguru & bow down to Him.
With His blessings, we will act with courage & enthusiasm in the material & the spiritual realm & scale newer heights & be wiser.
With a lot of love & courage we proclaim, “Jai Guru Datta, Om Gam Ganapathaye Namah.”
    Pranams Puttuji.

When I opened the MMS, i had to smile. It was Appaji’s way of reassuring me upon what I had courageously done today in the absolute faith I have in my Satguru. My travel agent called to check if I was confirming my flight to london for the concert. I said that I will call her back in a few minutes. During that time I was evaluating the appropriateness confirming, whilst I had a few loose ends to tie up. I tossed and decided that it was GO and booked it. I also booked my concert ticket. Now I know, I had done the right thing and all the loose ends will be tied up in time for departure. Thank you Appaji. I know, I have been courageous rather than foolish !

‘Courage’ is result of ability to manage fear. It is an antidote for fear when one is aware of the knowledge about fear and the way to over come it. This is possible only with grace of Guru or God. May Sri Swamiji bless us all to be wise even during times of danger.
