  1. When you’re worried about an exam, you prepare well for it. ‘Some’ worry keeps you alert, is good. ‘Excessive’ worry causes anxiety disorder.. caught in a fight or flight response.. which releases hormones cortisol & adrenalin.. increasing blood sugar & blood fat; causing dry mouth, faster heart beat, shorter breath, sweating, trembling, twitching. Excessive release of such hormones can suppress the immune system, hurt digestion, cause memory loss & heart disease.

Prayer, meditation, music therapy & deep breathing help reduce cortisol & adrenalin, enhancing feelings of self-esteem & happiness. Happy people have higher life expectancy.

Dear Appaji, You are our Ganapati. You remove all obstacles in our path. You’ve blessed us with Nada, Meditation and Kriya Yoga. We will practice these & not allow worry to waste our body. This body must be good to serve your mission. That’s when it achieves its purpose. Prostrations on Ganesh Chaturthi. Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji.

Jaya Guru Datta, for this important message this morning! As I watched the video I thought about how women are taught to worry–they are expected as both mothers and wives to care about those they love–but that often becomes translated as excessive worry that ruins their health. We are so conditioned to use worry as a way of showing our love…Our mothers fuss and worry all of the time, and while we certainly can’t stop loving our children or being concerned for them, sometimes our sense of helplessness as they grow older or are far away breeds anxiety. And for some older women, who find the children gone, worry is the way they hold on. Help us learn that there are better ways to care for those we love–help us surrender our fears and concerns regarding our dear ones to God, and to understand that sending love and a prayer that God will give them all the resources they need to face and complete the karma they are facing is better than sending anxiety and fear to the situation by worrying. And once that is done, let us sit and breathe and listen to Swamiji’s music trusting that God is with us at all times and knows our needs and concerns….

It is like Swamiji would have make this video only for me: today I have broken my food and I worry a lot of my body, because my bones are bad. It is very difficult and I pray that Swamiji can help me with my health!

The one divine feature that stands out in Appaji is that I have never seen him worried. Whatever may obstruct his path, he coolly handles the situation. He is always in complete control of his emotions. That is why his smile never fades. His programs may change. His schedules may get upset. But his calm demeanor remains the same. He is our Guru. By his example he is showing us how to be. I have never heard him blame another person for his inconvenience. He truly practices what he teaches. His absence of worry is perhaps one aspect of his lifestyle that maintains his vigor and youth even at the age of 70. He is more energetic perhaps than even a 7 year old, and more enthusiastic about his activities and mission.
We heard the wonderful quote the other day in Birmingham, “Worry is an insult to God’s wisdom.’ Our worry implies that something has gone wrong. When God is in charge of running the world, how can anything go wrong? After all He is all-knowing. He has created this world and is preserving it as per His plan. He is controlling all the activities in this universe, starting from the highest celestial power down to a blade of grass or the movement of an ant. That being the case, to state it bluntly, worrying is tantamount to not believing in God’s power or judgment and not having faith in His ability to take care of His own children. God’s plans may not agree with our plans, many times. When that happens, we should graciously accept His decision, respect it and treat it as a gift. It is our attachments, our ignorance, our greed for pleasure and comfort, and our fear for our safety and well being that make us insult God by worrying. I know that it is easy to read this statement but difficult not to worry. Complete faith in God and true alone will make one totally worry-free. I pray to Sadgurudeva on this auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi festival to lead us all to such a state of mind by his divine grace.

Thank You, Appaji. Sometimes we feel obligated to worry as though there is something righteous or noble in worrying about a worthy cause… such as presidential elections and world hunger and what not. Being given permission to NOT worry by Your Holiness is very freeing… it takes a lot of pressure off and makes it so simple: “DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY!” JGD

Jaya Guru Datta. In Every MMS message I always feel as if it is a specific instruction for me from Pujya SriSwamiji. Very timely and very encouraging and enlightening. Worries are the obstacles to Success and thereby happiness. And Ganapati is the remover of such obstacles.

    Jai Guru Datta,
the last time I had been to the Ashram in Mysore a thought came into my head: That it is more stupit not to trust then to trust, no matter the circumstance, because trust is a power in itself and it is innocent. That doesn´t mean blind, but it is innocent from the heart and that is connected to life and this is always strenghthening and uplifting. So I think even if there is an appearent reason to worry – to betray owns own trust means to desert ones own heart and power and that´s a killer.

“Mera mujh mein kuch nahi, jo kuch hai so tera; Tera tujhko saup diya, kya laage hai mera” If we can inculcate this attitude, nothing can worry us. He surely has plans for us and those He reveals when He thinks time is right. So, why worry? Please Appaji, pray that we remain steadfast in our minds so that we accept what comes our way without a question/doubt. Give us the will and the mind to surrender to you completely. Life, then, is worry-free. JGD!!

    Dear Ganapati,
very long time ago I was doubting your existence and your power. I had a silent fight running between you and Jesus. I was young and confused. Finally I sended you away. But you would not leave. I was asking myself: who are you? Every day I simply looked at you – still suspicious.
After a while I got to know you more. I started to like you and got very interested in you.
Today I want to thank you for staying with me and leading me. You are making me smile. Thank you for being a part in my life!

    • Glory of Rama on September 19, 2012 at 11:58 pm

What is worry? Worry is fear for the future as to what might happen. Worry is uncertainty about something that could become unpleasant. Worry is not knowing how to proceed and being confused. Worry is not knowing what to expect and fearing the unexpected. Worry is helplessness and feeling ill equipped to cope with a situation. What is the root cause for all of these? It is fear and a lack of faith in the protective love of God. It is a lack of trust that God will guide us in the proper direction when the time comes if we simply allow Him to do so. By chanting the name of God constantly, our devotion to God will increase and our faith and trust in Him will increase, Appaji says. As a result our worrying nature will disappear.

JGD Appaji – Wish you a very Happy Ganesh Chathurthi. As we clean our body every day with water to remove dirt and dust in the same way we should remove worries from our body by prayers, singing bhajans, doing meditation or looking at Appaji. Thank you Appaji for reminding us that you are always with us and we should not allow worries to get into our mind or body – SGD

jgd. happy vinayaka chaviti. om namo hanumate namaha.

    • T.r.sethuraman, Cochin on September 20, 2012 at 3:10 am

On auspicious Vinayaka chaturti day, Appaji has given a very apt MMS. It is true that we should not worry for everthing. Puttuji you have clearly explained here which means depend up on the situation only we can worry to certain extent for doing better. Appaji in His London speech clearly advising us to pray Lord Ganesa who will protect us in all respect and to chant daily Om Gam Ganapathaya Namah or at least say Gam which is enough. By doing this He will protect from all worries. According to me again our mind is responsible for everthing which means even our worries and that lead to spoile our health in so many ways. To get rid of from this we have to follow a Sadguru  and His words, teachings so that we will get a good relief from the un necessary worries. It is a fact that as per our Karma we have to face every thing in our life. But at the same time if we follow our Appaji’s words and teachings we will get a good relief and peace of mind also. This should be our ultimate aim in our life. The photography is so apt for this MSG and the music of SPB is very nice.  JGD.

    Gam Gam Ganapataye namaha
Let`s tell our body not to worry. It is such a powerful instrument. Better take care and
never use it the wrong way. Good eating, enough calmness, some extra specials,
good environment, fresh air, enough movement … that´s what sweet body wants.
Like a child. Does it get what it wants? Not always …, I try to care for it, day by day,
sometimes it`s not easy – but GANAPATHI always helps.
WHAT a BLESSING ….. THANK YOU dear Ganapathi
    and HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Jaya Guru Datta. Wonderful video and a very scientific comment by Puttuji. In addition to the knowledge thus given to all of us, ordering not to be engulfed in worry – Appaji is also showing that in the video. The image with a very compassionate look on Him seems like asking a very serious questions to all of us – ‘what are you worried about?’. for those in sadhana, this question/gesture itself might answer a lot of unwanted questions, for those seekers – it might even initiate the tattva shodhana – Thank You Appaji for removing these obstacles on the Ganesh Chaturthi day!!!

JAYA GURU DATTA! How often in my life my beloved Appaji proofed , that He cares for everything! Please, dearest Sadgurudeva forgive me to have still not enough trust! I`m very sorry for this! Humbly I bow down to Appaji Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sat Chit Ananda`s holy lotusfeet. S.G.D.!

    • on September 20, 2012 at 2:34 pm

Pujya Appaji has given so many tools to His children to use, when in low spirits. Chinta takes one to Chiti only! Puttuji’s comment saying, “this body has to be in good shape to server Appaji’s mission”, is really wonderful. With wasted body and health, we will be of no use to Appaji, or ourselves, our families…if one makes such differentiation. Mind is a tricky thing. When in sorrow, surrendering (unloading) all at His Lotus Feet, and just sitting back with no-thinking gives a lot of relief. Allm, and so many, Appaji’s tricks! Sri Guru Datta.

    JGD Appaji
Appaji always says “Regretting about the past, or worrying about the future will both make our present miserable”
Why worry about anything when Appaji is there! He knows what is needed and what to give and what we deserve. He will also give us the strength whenever needed. He also has given us such splendid Divine music to calm our worried mind …thank you Appaji!

    • Joseph on December 20, 2012 at 8:44 am

“Mind and feelings” are the main culprits for all worries because any disturbance or worry depends on how a situation is received by mind. Worry blocks all the thoughts and all possible ways to calm down. Worrying disturbs the harmony of body and mind. So one should be aware of those vicious thoughts that can always make us exhausted by wasting energy and time that God has actually gifted us to utilise our resources to help ourselves. May Jesus help us all to tolerate all worries and guide us in right path.
