  1. {Varaha : Boar – The 3rd avatara of Vishnu in which he lifted the Earth from the primordial waters, putting it back in its original place}
The ability to stay above the lure of desires, defines a true achiever. As desires creep in through the senses & fill in the mind, their weight can become so over whelming that they can submerge the whole being
All of Hiranyaksha’s austerities could not protect him from Varaha, when he fell prey to earthly love. Our scriptures are full of such illustrations.
To a layman, that island may look lonely amidst the ocean. But that island knows that at a very deep level it is connected to all the land elsewhere
Even though the ocean surrounds that island, the two are comfortable being themselves. So it is, with the snow & the mountain. They feel complete by themselves. No desire.. no delusion.
    Pranams Sathgurudeva!
You’re Sahtki Ganapathi, empowering us to stay above earthly love. We will.
    Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji! It all means to be like a drop of water on lotus leaf. For any one attachment fetches happiness while detachment results in grief.”Give up attachment “says all moral texts for all the problems and agony faced by us. This is easier said than done because we consider impermanent things like wealth ,beauty and relations with kith and kin as permanent ,not relealising the truth. The greater the eagerness to get needs to be satisfied the more will be the relations. The fewer our wants the nearer we will be to God.We are slaves of senses and relations .Swamiji Bless us and Guide us so that we develop attachment towards God and Sadguru, who is the permanent companion

Despair comes when we are not bounded with God. When we live an earthly love, we go away from the union with God, we go into the ego. We must find a other form of love, the love which is bounded with the inner light of a person. Then we have both: love to a person and love to God.

Jaya Guru Datta. Dearest Mother Sri Swamiji, I love you so much and know that You are the only truth yet I feel helpless to free myself from such binding attachments. Please help me to surrender. Please save me from this world of attachments and dualities. Without your help I will be lost in this hellish world forever. Please help me Lord Shiva. I love you, I love you, I love you. Sri Guru Datta.

Jaya Guru Datta! So many long to know earthly love, but Sri Swamiji offers us something deeper and more lasting. For many of us who have been raised in a culture of romantic love or for those who have never known love, this is a most difficult lesson to learn because we have few to no role models before meeting Swamiji to understand that internal bliss really exists. As the metaphor of the island explains, it looks lonely out there in that ocean, but it really isn’t. We just can’t see that union that requires no one else. There is only one way to find it and that is to go within. Sri Guru Datta!

Jaya Guru Datta. It is difficult not to be attached to our beloved Sadguru for the amount of love He generates. Sri Swamiji once said, we need to unlearn all that we had learned before coming under His wings. That includes the western world’s teachings for materialism, to which we had become attached. Only through self-surrender can we receive the true benefits of the Lord.

Jaya Guru Datta! Life on earth is ephemeral, even incarnations of the divine had to abide by this rule. So, any attachment to what’s impermanent only brings grief. I love my parents deeply, but when I lost my mother, I could see how attachment could bring much despair. You told us that anything with form is not real, it’s not eternal. But, this maya causes us to be attached to everything with a form. We learned that the attachment is a projection of the mind. It’s not the people that are drawing us to them, but our senses that are being drawn to worldly relationships and possessions. So, it’s by reining in our senses and turning our mind inward and not by isolating ourselves from the people around us that we can win over earthly love and attachments. The attachments will stay with us as long as we don’t rein in our senses, even if we are alone. May we, with your blessings always focus on the real, the divine that’s everywhere in and around us. Obeisances at the Holy Lotus Feet!

Jaya Guru Datta! Dear Appaji, may I by Your grace follow the example of the island or the snow & mountains; may I not display unreal detachment only by show. May I by achieving true detachment develop true divine love for all beings and the whole cosmos. Sri Guru Datta!

Jaya Guru Datta As long as we have karma, which has to be dissolved, we have earthly attachments, wishes concerning the material life, emotions as love and hatred .envy, jealousy etc.I think ,this goes along according the natural laws
Only by prayers and through the grace of the Guru we can overcome these ties and restrictions. The Guru will—to my opinion —only make as free from any any karma ,if we have learned what we have to learn through this love, attachments and the following,so caused despair
So let us listen to our beloved Sadguru Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda and follow the master—and learn

What a beautiful advice to day Appaji has given through this MMS which has got a deep inner meaning also. In a simple way if you think—- Over desires and attachments will lead us to despair in due course. Puttuji here you have given a nice explanation about Varaha about how it lift the earth from water and keep it in the same place again. From this we can even understand in this Kaliyuga wherever over desires and attachments are in earth, it can’t withstand and the result is heavy damage and disaster .Therefore Varaha cannot render His service to protect everywhere the earth in the same manner due to the above reason. The same way in the case of Hiranayaksha also. From this we can come to a conclusion that our mind is the root cause for all our over desires and attachments. Hence basically if we are able to drive our mind, we will succeed in our life and can overcome from these problems. But it is not so easy in this Kaliyuga , because we are attracted in worldly pleasures and etc. Therefore to over come this we have to follow the spiritual path through our Sadguru, who will guide us in the right path through His words and teachings. Our duty is to simply obey with out a second thought and follow. Here I recollect further the MMS —128, 138 and 245 also.Thank you Appaji to remind us again about these facts and we follow You in all respects because You are Sakthi Ganapathy for us. JGD.

    Jaya Guru Datta Puttuji_/\_!!

Beautiful MMS which clearly shows that Sri Swamiji is donning the Varaha avatara as well to uplift our souls that has the tendency to succumb to base tendencies and worldly desires.
Thank you for making us seek the truth, which is abode at Your Lotus Feet !!

    Jaya Guru Datta Appaji _/\_!!

Only Guru’s Grace can give us ability to control desires which are like the waves in an ocean. Only after we discard desires can we seek the truth. We will remember and follow all your words and regularly do Namasankeertana (Singing Glory of God) and indulge in selflless seva.
Seeking your blessings that my mind always run towards You, Appaji.
    We will follow you !!
Om Varahaya Namaha !! Om Sakti Ganapataye Namaha !!
Sri Guru Datta !! Om Namo Hanumathe Namaha !!

Our humble pranams at the divine feet of our Sadguru.
Sri Swamiji has again and again given this message. Unless we come out of our earthly attachments and desires, peace of mind and ultimately ‘moksha’ cannot be achieved. But how to come out of this bondage, out of this ‘maya’? For ordinary people continuously remembering God or Guru through ‘namasankeertana’ is the best method. And here our beloved Guru, Sri Swamiji’s powerful mantras and divine bhajans are invaluable. Even people like me who don’t know anything about music get attracted to Swamiji’s bhajans. His Holiness’ bhajans invariably draws us towards Him or God. Jai Guru Datta.

to transform worldly love into divine love,

to become sparks of heaven in Your mission!
    Thank You so much!

    • Venkat on February 12, 2013 at 10:41 am

JGD.Appaji – this is so very true as the attachment causes moha, whose loss causes anger and the likes – so, the earthly love and attachment give rise to the increase in the 6 inner enemies. On the contrary, the pure love, which doesnt expect anything in return causes detachment and will lead us to salvation. So, the key is in the expectation, which is is what Appaji taught in the previous MMS’. Do the karma and leave the fruit to Sadguru should be the way of life so that we are free of bondage

  5. What exacrly is desire? We hear it so much…we need to be free from desire? How can we be free frm desire i often ask myself? I will try to exhaust this desire in this lifetime! doesn’t work…
The desire to know and be with God (Bakthi) is the greatest desire. That is a desire also. So, how can we say we have to get rid of desire? You get rid of the bad desire then does good desire go with it? So what exactly is this desire so often spoken of?
I love beautiful things… decorative objects…I get into trouble if I become too attached.
I did not desire all these cats that Nature is bringing to me to take care of. But what to do? I cannot let them starve.I cannot let them freeze. Compassion comes in.. Love comes in..and BAM there’s an attachment! But is it necessarily a Bad attachment? I do not feel that i can be an island and live, truly live. and BE.
How to overcome this? How to transcend. Of course with Guru!
The island is also shaped like the crescent moon of the OM symbol! What’s on the other side of that island? Oh there’s another desire.. A desire to know. Oh desire…Pranams to you Swamiji! Help me swim this vast vast ocean!
there are so many ways to lopl at this video. So many perceptions.
At first glance, the island is by itself. (I remember when I was an adolescent I wanted to be an island!) Did the island have a desire tobe there? alone? Actually it is not alone as there are so many living organisms on it and feeding off of it and breathing! The island broke off of the main land due to shifts in Nature… But we are shown the peak, the highest peak, which exists on the mainland. Is it good to sequester ourselves off from the mainland and from the highest peaks?

    • Pavani Kamalapuram on February 13, 2013 at 10:07 am

    JGD Appaji
We came in this world with nothing and we will leave with nothing.
We think we truly love someone in this world, but do we die with them? Even after they die we still breath, eat and live our life. So the love is not true.. the attachments are not true, and the relations as well. If nothing is true,it can never give true happiness either..it can only lead to despair .We are looking for truth in places it does not even exist. Truth is Appaji. He is with us. Let us surrender to Him and receive permanent happiness

    OM VARAHAYA NAMAH
My beloved SADGURU, I thank YOU for YOUR help. When we can see the sparks of Divinity in each being, then our love goes toward the Divine, preventing us from earthly love, attachment and despair.

No earthly forms or relations are eternal as they are perishable, hence can only lead to despair. May lord bless us to divert all our feelings love and affection a human possess towards himself or others towards God, by doing so we are happy because God is eternal.
