Babies love the taste of their thumb. They get bored of it quickly, and graduate to lollipop. As they grow, lollipop makes way for ice cream, chocolate… which make way for sugarless sweets in later life. Beyond a certain age ‘bland’ is enjoyable.. because everything else is unacceptable, unhealthy. Tastes change with age, for the body.

The mind too has its own sense of taste. We have already said the mind is a thought flow. Different thoughts create different feelings. Children enjoy thinking and watching cartoons. As they grow, the love of cartoons may be replaced by science fiction. As age advances, higher order needs kick in. Cinema halls make way for temples, churches.. community and social work. Later, one sees the futility and impermanence of joys of the external world. The mind then turns inward.. and discovers a whole unexplored territory. It is then that one realizes that he has wasted a lifetime polishing just the container.. without enjoying its content! By then it is too late.. for the container is frail, just waiting to pack up. If only the mind had turned inward when the container was healthier.. what a divine joy it would have been!

Our Gurudeva wants all of us to enjoy that ‘higher taste’ from very early in life. This is why He calls this world ‘insipid’. And He is saying this to the facebook, youtube, vimeo generation. Coming to think of it, don’t we all get a very different, higher taste from the internet than the world does at large? Like the divine taste we get from this MMS, which sings the glory of the ‘nectar’ called Rama (nama).. ‘nectar’ because it is divine taste for the mind.. ‘nectar’ is the drink of the Gods.

Without knowing what it meant, Valmiki recited the name the reverse way ( Mara mara mara mara..) and experienced the divinity in it. We are more privileged. When His Holiness sings the glory of Rama nama (Album – ‘Nadanjaneya’ Kannada – Track 6 – Ramanamave ).. that higher taste is further enhanced by His divine voice. We will not miss this opportunity, Gurudeva! Yes, having been introduced to this higher taste, this samsara ‘IS’ insipid. We will enjoy every drop of this nectar.. and with that divine nourishment, we will dedicate ourselves to your cause! To us, nothing else matters.
    Your Puttuji.

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji, such powerful images of city life today, offset by the beautiful lotuses and Sri Swamiji as Rama! It’s so easy to lose balance in the city, to stray from leading a dharmic life–to think that power and success can be found in objects and money. One can gobble up or steal all the material things they can find, but that one will never have the real gift that Rama brings into our hearts. The real power, the real love, the true success is that which can only be found within our hearts where Rama resides! Swamiji, why is that all great souls like Rama and Arjuna have to go to the forest before they complete their mission?

    Jaya Guru Hanuman,

Amazing video showing lotus flowers which grow in murky waters but still stay above it. The message and bhajan show that in order to stay above the murky waters called samsara we have to drink the nectar of ‘Rama’. The problems that we face in our lives are miniscule compared to what Rama and Sita faced. Their strength in facing life challenges and adherence to Dharama strictly has been derived from great strength of character. It is said that in order to learn from the life of Rama we should forget that Rama is God and look at him as a human being. If we look at him as God we might feel that because he is God he did this way. Instead if we consider him as a human we can try to understand the underlying Dharma in all his actions. This is how we build character. We put an ideal before us and try to raise to the level of ideal in every action we do. We might fall many times (thousands of times or more) but still we should hold onto our ideal and try to raise ourselves.

A mahatma said that ‘Every man is a compound of animality, humanity, and divinity’. By reading and understanding the life of Rama we will be able to overcome the animal nature and raise to the level of humans and eventually become divine. Let us all read Shatashloki Ramayanam, try to understand it and practise it in our daily lives. Let us also pray to Sri Swamiji to help us dive into the depths of Shatashloki Ramayanam.

Humble prostrations to the lotus feet of Sri Swamiji who is Rama.

    Om namo hanumate namaha

Why this world is insipid? it is always the same play, always the same. Because we are dreaming, we don’t see it, that it is always the same. We are hypnosed from themovement of the things in this world. But that, which gives us really an information, what this world is, who I am, what I have to do and so on, is Rama. Here I have the essence of all!

To slow down enough within ourselves to experience Rama Nectar, and at the same time be able to function in the very fast paced world…….Swamiji’s MMS videos are helping very much.

    Thank you Sri Swamiji :-))

    Jaya Guru Datta,
very interesting to call the world “insipid” – I will never get satisfaction by following only the principles of modern life. The profound knowledge that Swamiji is sharing with us is the only solution to have the right focus in life. I might be attached in this modern world but with Sadgurus help I am able to learn awareness and detachment.

While this world is truly insipid, it’s lack of lustre did not fool this seeker for long. I am grateful that my Datta Sadguru came to me through all the flavorless manifestations. I had heard of RamRaj for years prior, but did not understand what it truly meant. Sri Swamiji changed that by revealing the most beautiful and powerful songs that allow one to feel Rama. It is internal. The first time I heard “Rama Namave” bhajan I wept feeling the depth that swept through my body and soul. It continues to be effective in that way. Sweeping aside the meaningless world that appears around me. Thank you Sri Swamiji for your gifts that bring the Bliss that is Rama. Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama

    • on August 14, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama.

We already have great example of this message in our lives when our Rama Sri Swamiji has blessed us by entering our lives. Keep chanting Rama nama, get connected with HIM spirtually via devotion and lead a happy peaceful life.

    Jaya Sri Rama

  2. JGD. Oh Dearest Appaji, with your majestic crown and the bow and arrow made of roses you have shot your arrow of devotion through my heart. It reverberates with the sound of the thirteen syllables of Ram.Rama. Sri Rama. Jaya Rama. Jaya Sri Rama. Jaya Jaya Rama. Jaya Jaya Sri Rama. Jaya Sri Rama Sri Rama. Jaya Rama Jaya Sri Rama. Jaya Sri Rama Jaya Sri Rama. Jaya Jaya Rama Jaya Sri Rama. Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Sri Rama. Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama. From one syllable to thirteen your single arrow has struck over 100,000,000 times. Jaya Sri Rama. Sri Guru Datta.

Modern city life with all it’s trappings and maya is indeed like a dangerous jungle full of soul ravaging demons which threaten to ensnare us away from our true godly nature. Rama and Ramayana teach us how to navigate this jungle so that we may walk through unscathed and remain enjoined with God and Sadgurudeva. To this end Sadguru and Bala Swamiji are constantly preaching Ramayana. May we all drink this nectar that is so lovingly being offered by them. Please keep playing Shata Shloki Ramayana until 130 crores is reached. This is our Sadguru’s wish. Om namo Hanumate namah.

    Jaya Guru Datta!
When entering the world through Sri Swamiji’s help in deed all what we had so long discovered becomes a different, an insipid taste. The true bliss, we get to experience, is somewhere else. It lies in Rama. In the experience of Sri Swamiji. We start to get a new understanding of everything. A deeper understanding. This includes also physics. i always wanted to get knowledge about the connection between the physical understanding of the world and the spiritual world.
Thank you so much, Sri Swamiji to let us experience a deeper understanding.

Jaya Guru Datta! I sometimes feel hurt and rejected when people leading a life in this insipid outer world make fun out of spiritually minded people. However, we being with Appaji, who teaches us the essence of Rama patiently, are truly blessed. And, only few years ago, I was probably the same as atheistic people. Let’s pray for all the souls to get knowledge and bliss.

The word Rama has two letters ‘Ra’ and ‘ma’ which is easy to pronounce and has inner meaning to save us from all detachments. The sage Valmiki, who had introduced the great epic ‘Srimadramayan’, had committed sins and to uplift himself by the grace of his Guru (Narada muni) he started chanting Rama mantra and transformed to a great saint Valmiki, such is the power of ‘Rama’ mantra. This is the concept believed by Hindus, but God is only one and omnipresent, in the name and form of Jesus, Rama or Allah.

Jaya Guru Datta! This nectar like message, right during Chaturmasya when we are being blessed to listen to Srimadramayana pravachana by Pujya Bala Swamiji sounds so beautiful. The name of Lord Rama is so beautiful – so many saints have composed songs extolling the divinity in Lord Rama’s name. Sage Valmiki became became a saint of great stature even though he chanted Lord Rama’s name backwards. Such is the magic in Lord Rama’s name.

The ups and downs in this world come and go like the ripples in an ocean. Only Lord Rama’s name gives us eternal happiness. We are extremely blessed to be in the presence of Lord Rama who appears as Sri Ganapathy “Krite Dattam, Tato Ramam, Dwaapare Krishna Naamakam” meaning that Sri Swamiji appeared as Lord Rama in Treta Yuga. That’s the line that Pujya Bala Swamiji wrote in the Guru Stuti.

    Jaya Guru Datta Appaji,

Thank you for the beautiful video and detailed explanation. Pujya Guru Deva is creating rama mayam everywhere as if entire ether is reverberating Ram.Ram…Ram. The more we listen Shatashloki Ramayana, new things i learn from it.These days Ramayana Pravachanam by Bala Swamiji is so Exquisitely said that we are getting engrossed in the pravachanam. I pray to Pujya Guru Deva to experience this divine nectar everyday in our life’s.

JGD Appaji!! Reminds me of the bhajan “Rama taraka Mantra”. Indeed, insipid world and Rama nectar! The video depicts this insipid world to the “T”. The maddening speeds, the share markets, excessive desire for money and possessions…list is endless. And then there is this silhouette of Rama with his bow and arrow. When I pause to think of what is my acievement after all this running around, I have no answer nor do I have that blissful happiness that is unbinding to anything.
On the other hand, when I am in His presence, I forget all of that and my inner being is awakened and I can feel that unbinding peace within myself. I know that I am capable of feeling that inner happiness. Ramayana discourses by Bala Swamiji are spiritually awakening. Listening to those discourses, I have fallen in love with Avatara Purusha (Rama Himself and Rama rupi our Sadguru). My journey so far has been very machine-like, but now I know what that goal is that I want to reach. Thanks Appaji for reminding us about how powerful and healing Rama Nama is!! Thanks for teaching us to let go and still remain grounded!! You allow us to make our stupid mistakes and still so patiently teach us the lesson 🙂 Love you lots!! JGD!

  4. In childhood, I was taught that chanting the name of Rama drives away all fears. So, I would chant before sleeping, especially before exams. I would pass exams with reasonably good marks, but the habit of worrying did not leave me so easily, even till now.
Now, our ever-loving Appaji is helping us pass the Ocean of Samsara with Rama Naama and Ramayana. Lets listen to HIM.

    JGD, JGH! Appaji
Very good illustrations in the MMS!
Rather than living like the lotus in a swamp, untouched by the muddy water,..we are all running behind the world with its fast pace, stocks etc etc. This MMS reminds us of our roots that we need to be like the lotuses in the pond chanting the Divine Name and following Appaji, our minds free of wordly matters.
Appaji’s music is the Arrow of Rama, which will destroy the Ravana (inner enemies) in us.
