  1. Gurudeva, You’re verily the Mother Rajarajeshwari.. who cares for every being in her creation. You want us to realize that man & his environment are inseparable.. our destinies are shared.

So, you taught us that the animate and inanimate are part and parcel of God- MMS64. You then urged us to protect endangered species of trees atleast in bonsai form– MMS99.

You’re the best teacher. You know we’re a transactional generation, that won’t do something for nothing. So, you’re giving us a new reason to protect trees.

Yes.. we’ve benefitted from trees. The Vedas were written on palm leaves. Until the arrival of softer media, all knowledge was shared on paper. You want us to return the gratitude.. We will.

You’ve shown us the way by the space you’ve dedicated for greenery in the Mysore Ashrama.. and in Ashrama’s around the world. We’re following you. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji

When we understand the nature as something, which we can simply use for our interest, we forget the most important thing: nature is a collection of different items which are living. Each object is living and we should handle it like this. Then we would change a lot in our form of actions. I wish me very deeply, that men begin to understand. I also want try to understand even more and more!

As a child, roaming free in the forest, trees were my teachers. They demonstrated how the divine moves through all things. An old apple tree was a refuge where, perched on its branches, I shared secrets with beloved friends. During my vision quest, when a great storm containing tornadoes came, a little tree leaned over and protected me with its tiny branches. After 9/11, it was an ancient stand of oaks in New Jersey, the oldest trees on the east coast, that offered me their roots on which to rest and heal. As I prayed for those who had died, a great breeze came up among these special trees and I could hear their leaves sighing as if they, too, were praying for all those who were suffering. Trees are alive and full of consciousness, willing to love us and teach us when we take the time to honor them and remember them. It’s no wonder the Devatas reside in trees. Jaya Guru Datta, for this wonderful reminder today, that, like crystals, they have also stored our knowledge.

JGD Appaji – This MMS is a good reminder to everyone to protect trees and save mother earth. If atleast one tree is planted by each individual on his birthday every year then there will be no scarcity of water, paper, trees, fruits etc. I will make this a habit and make sure my family will follow this to protect mothere nature – Thank you Appaji – SGD

    • Vanaja on December 6, 2012 at 2:04 pm

    Jaya Guru Datta,
trees are alive. Trees are beautiful and very important for the welfare of the world. Before winter comes we take them inside (if they have been on the balcony). The once standing outside need protection from the cold. Otherwise they will die. The worst damage of a tree, often remains hidden underground. Roots are one of the most vital parts of a tree. They are responsible for nutrient and water uptake, store energy, and and or the plant.
I have to think of PROTECTION. Trees, children, dharma, ……. Please, dear Puttuji, help us to be responsible in all ways!
    Sri Guru Datta

Jaya Guru Datta! We have moved to a place where there are plenty of woods around. It is simply wonderful. Not only for them preserving jnana, but also as a respect and love towards Mother Nature should we protect trees. There is still a lot of awareness necessary around the globe. May we all be able to prevent the scenario that there are no more trees! May we be blessed by Sadgurudeva to succeed.Sri Guru Datta!

What a noble thought – it is not just about the propagation of conserving the trees/forestry. It is touching the heart with the best utility we had from the trees. Thank You Appaji.

Trees selflessly serve humanity and all of creation in so many ways. They have also helped preserve the ancient texts for future generations and are used daily to transmit knowledge to so many students via books. Thank you Appaji for practicing, showing and instructing us to take care of trees.

Jaya Guru Datta. Let me be grateful and protect trees. My first name, Lila, is Persian and means lilac. When I was a little girl we had a lilac tree growing in our yard, which I loved and considered my tree. It was there before I was born so maybe It was the other way around, and I was it’s human. I love you Mother Swamiji and I very much enjoyed your concert and the dancing bonsai trees. Sri Guru Datta

JGD. Trees have always played a crucial role in ensuring mankind’s welfare. Today our very survival may depend on trees. Through the divine grace of Appaji, I am representing my country at the Climate Change meeting taking place in Doha, Qatar. The 193 countries which are represented here agree that the entire planet is vulnerable to massive disasters due to global warming and climate change. Tree and forests will be a major part of the solution to reverse the negative effects, as they reduce the amount of harmful carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. They are nature’s way of saving our world, together with the grace of our beloved Appaji.

Appaji is reminding through this MMS that we have to give importance to Nature wherein The Mother Rajarajeshwari cares for all her creations in it. Puttuji you have given in your comments about MMS64 and 99 which are absolutely correct. Here I further recollect the MMS 164 also wherein Appaji says Trees are giving and giving to us and expecting nothing from us. Now today Appaji has further gone deep in to that concept and reminding us that they are also Part and Parcel of our life created by the God. Here I even remember in Datta Dharsanam book Sadguru Datta saying about His 24 Gurus wherein the first is Earth. From the earth He learned about first Patience and secondly from Plants and trees He learned how to help others when the Earth is carring them. In other words when the trees are giving to us it’s Fruits, Leaves etc, it is our duty also to protect them in all respects. The Paper has got it’s importance today also even though the software system has come up.Therefore Appaji you have opened our eyes and teach us, how much importance we have to give to Nature wherein The Trees, Plants and Animals etc are also the creation of God and it is our duty to preserve and protect them as You are doing the in our beautiful Ashrama in Mysore. The photography is very apt for this MSG and Appaji’s Key board wherein the Mangalam in Raga Sama is giving a soothing effect. JGD.

  4. JGD.Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha,so also Vruksho rakshati rakshitah,as we evidence from current day life.Trees are the source for our lively hood,in many of our needs, oxygen, water, leaves, veg,.fruit, flowers our sheltor requirements, barks as cloth, medicinal herbs and so on,numerous benefits including the source for our knowledge, as rightly pointed by Our APPAJI.It is a motherly service. So our treatment to the tree is also to be that one towards our mother, one who earns the most reverence from her wards.SGD

Jgd,swamiji has showed us the best reason for expressing our gratitiude to the trees. There is not a single part in a tree that is not useful to mankind. It only humans who at times turn out to be wasteful. they teach us patience, endurance and forgiveness…………….we pelt stones at them and they drop fruits. they show us perseverance … like a flower that holds on to the tree until it is pollinated and fertilized and then forms into a fruit we too should adhere devoutly to the lotus feet of our beloved Swamiji for our lives to attain fruition. let us imbibe all these qualities of gratitude, patience, endurance, forgiveness, perseverance etc: as exemplified by Swamiji.
Swamiji bless us with this strength

i like so much going to the woods. There the time seems to go slower, the problems of modern civilization seem to be far away. We can connect to our mother earth. The city Berlin where i live is so nice because of its many trees in the streets and parks and woods around.

Without vegetation, there is no life for us. This earth would not sustain us. More people, more concrete, more callous destruction of our protective environment out of more greed for more comfort and more luxury, spells nothing but doom for mankind. Thank you Appaji for telling us so gently a dire message that should really be shoved down our throats mercilessly. Where are the woods? Where are the parks? Where are the mighty and majestic trees? They are dwindling too quickly. Are people forgetting how long it takes to grow a mighty tree and how long it would live if we let it? Jaya Guru Datta

    • Anjana on December 8, 2012 at 10:10 pm

Jai Guru Datta our survival depends on living in harmony with trees and plants…….and we owe them a debt of gratitude for all they give us.. Just think of all they contribute to our well being—- shade, fuel, food , drink, medicinals , cloth, paper, and beauty …. Imagine that without them we couldn’t even breathe!!!! Yes Appaji the very least we can do is to protect Trees !!!! this seems like a no brainer but for us greedy earthlings it’s become a societal challenge ….I will follow you and work to protect them. Tress are part of nature as all herbivores are dependent on plants and carnivores are indirectly dependent for their food. They are also source of palm leaves and paper. Tress not only preserved our knowledge but also our life as they are the primary source for food. May lord bless us with strength to preserve nature and in turn protect ourselves.

    • Archana Penukonda on December 17, 2012 at 12:07 am

Jaya Guru Datta! Sri Swamiji once said that we should never think we are lonely. Mother Nature is always there with us. I understand from this message that since Nature nourishes us and protects us, we should do what we can to preserve it. But importantly, since the trees so selflessly helped preserve our knowledge, we owe everything we are today to the trees. Besides helping preserve our knowledge, the trees are examples of selflessness – bearing fruits for others, giving shade, supplying oxygen to living beings, providing wood for shelter etc. We will keep your message in mind and will protect trees. We will try to increase the greenery around us. Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet!
