  1. What an apt MMS on October 2nd – Gandhi Jayanthi Day!
Appaji – The Father of our Universe is reminding us of the Father of our Nation. Both stand up to a life of discipline. They systematically trained themselves in a chosen tradition. In that discipline they found their fulfilment.
So, do all the volunteers seen in this MMS. The render Humane Service round the clock.. You will not see them waiting in queues, or indulging in wasteful chatter. They’re busy washing plates, cleaning floors, dining tables & vessels, maintaining order, assisting the elderly.. in such seva they see their Guru & exhaust themselves to fulfilment. How tough life would be without these Sevaks!
Pranams Gurudeva! We will not lose any opportunity to indulge in your service. Greatness begins with mastery over ourselves. Training ourselves to a discipline, helps attain that mastery. Serving with such discipline, we’ll exhaust ourselves to fulfilment & rejuvenation. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji.

Discipline dictates our lives. An infant is taught discipline by being fed as per a schedule. We humans have the capacity to get trained or to train ourselves voluntarily. Sadgurudeva Sri Swamiji demonstrates to us daily how well discipline can help us. He is a personification of discipline. Come rain or sunshine, he does not miss his austerities or his physical exercises. Laziness and laxity are words that do not exist in his dictionary. Just observe his super human achievements in just a few decades! We do not see him waste even one single moment of his day. We do not hear him speak one extra unnecessary word. We do not see him engaging in any unnecessary task. Yet he never appears to be in a rush. He takes the time to attend to each activity giving it his complete attention. He laughs and he makes us laugh. He is relaxed and he relaxes us. He sings and he makes us sing. He dances and he makes us dance in abandon. His mind, we know is all pervasive and all-knowing of all that happens all over the universe at all times. Yet it is fully focused on the job at hand as if he is experiencing it for the very first time in his life. He is systematic and meticulous to the core. Under your guidance and inspiration, may we all achieve your level of discipline, Sadgurudeva Datta! Sri Guru Datta

What it gives to say to that? Yes, every day I must exercise discipline. It is sometimes a little bit hard, but I see the need from it and I do it, always with the help from Swamiji!

Our children used to try to avoid doing some given tasks with the excuse, “I am not good at it.” My response would at once be, “Then become good at it!” To this day they quote those words and laugh. Our most beloved Appaji is telling us sweetly that it is entirely up to us to make the effort to be disciplined. He is assuring us that success is ensured if we are systematic and regular in what we do, by standing before us as a perfect model. Jaya Guru Datta

Thank You so much, dear Sri Swamiji, for giving us the opportunity to do seva. i have spent the happiest moments of my life being involved in seva. In addition i learn innumerable lessons. While doing seva the learning intensity is very high. Disipline guides us to our inner enemies. It helps to find and to overcome them.

Yes, Puttuji today being Gandhi jayanthy, Appaji has given a very apt MMS. According to my view, Appaji’s first lesson is when you enter the Ashrama to keep discipline. If you practice this regularly we will get more concentration and can controll our mind which is required for our growth in spiritual path. Here even we can notice the importance of our volunteers, who as per the instruction of Appaji will make us to keep discipline in the Ashrama complex. This will help us in so many ways as already stated. More over Puttuji you have already stated here the services rendered by them especially during function and no more comment is required for this. Through Appaji’s guidance they have given proper training and lot of patience also to handle different type of devotees visiting the Ashrama. While we attend any function like Pooja or Homa or Bhajan etc  they will be doing their service in and around of the ashram in so many ways which is highly appreciable for which they will get Definately  the blessing from Appaji. There fore volunteers are also part and part of our Ashrama.    JGD.

In the Life History of Puja Sri Swamiji we have so many examples, how He was disciplined already as a very young boy. And becoming older He drove the discipline to an extent, that we can only be astonished and stay with open mouth. We can’t understand the dimension of this study and enormous will . Jaya Guru Datta with all admiration and the sankalpa to learn from you.

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji, what a wonderful tribute to those dedicated SGS volunteers who are like a “seva” army! Whenever I am around them in India, I always deeply admire their devotion to Swamiji and their willingness to serve. I think many aren’t aware how much seva they do beyond just crowd control and protecting Swamiji. They do much good work…a great team, who deserves our respect and admiration!

We have found that by establishing a daily routine, this kind of discipline brings greater freedom and peace to our lives. When we deviate from that routine, generally something doesn’t run as smoothly in the day. When we don’t have to think about what to do with the choices, our mind rests more easily into Sadguru. It is a simple and effective method that works for us. Thank you Appaji. JGD

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank You for today’s lesson, Puttuji! In this message, Sri Swamiji captured the concept of discipline in simple words. Thinking about this message, it’s no surprise then that all great souls that walked this earth had one thing in common – discipline. Only discipline can yield consistent success in our endeavors. This is especially true of our spiritual sadhana. Restraining onself from excesses for a couple days is not discipline. Drawing up a plan for success and consistently and sincerely following the plan is discipline. This is the way to get to Dharma, Artha Kama and Moksha. This was the way of Lord Rama . This is the way Pujya Appaji always lived. Thanks for the wonderful message, Puttuji! Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Pujya Sri Swamiji!

Humans are blessed with an intellect that can help them unleran and learn. We all need to unlearn laziness and learn to be more active and energetic. Looking at the march-past of these volunteers made me realize how much dedication and training has gone into their disciplined lives. They dont seem to get tired easily inspite of the physical seva they render. With unconditional love towards Appaji and His mission, this bunch has achieved self-discpline. Their discipline urges everyone to be the same. Appaji has unique means of training us step-by-step. So, let us all allow Him to impart that training so that all of us have a disciplined lifestyle that can only make us much more healthy and wisdom will soon follow. Nice MMS Appaji. Kriya Yoga and Systematic training, going hand-in-hand. JGD.

Jai Guru Datta Dear Puttuji !!

All the volunteers are very fortunate. Appaji is so merciful, HE walks back and gives his glance to all the volunteers again. Sadgurudeva is already watching out for all of us. Who else is more concerned about us? Our concern is always in Sadgurudeva’s mind. In selfless and devoted seva to Sadguru the sevaks are marching with discipline on the path to liberation. Puttuji thank you for tying the message with real world examples to enhance our clarity of understanding. Appaji’s grace I will surely meet any opportunity in Gurudeva’s Mission and Service.

    Sri Guru Datta !!

  3. Jai Guru Datta Swami Ji, we are slowly and steadily learning to dicipline ourselves. I do err but think of the MMS messages and think of positive thoughts. Need to work on it and will continue to do so.

    Jaya Guru Datta,

many years back I was at the Ashrama when Swamiji and the sevakas where doing the same presentation. I have to say I got a little amused about the “military spirit”. Today Swamiji is pointing out the matter of discipline.
Thank you for this wonderful video-clip: the volunteers standing in a sharp line like soldiers, remind me of Ramayana! Appaji passing like the strong Hanumanta and examining the state of condition. I imagine how Hanuman was building the brige over to Lanka. I am sure that everything had to be a perfect match and going on in a very clear order.

it is fascinating how sri swamiji by inner guidance can teach discipline to somebody quite undisciplined like I used to be. discipline is absolutely necessary for the spiritual path, although – as I recently heard – some teachers claim that it is be possible without. sri daya mata, the former president of paramahamsa yoganandas self-realization fellowship commented this as utter nonsense. as shown in the pictures discipline could be understood as a centering all one’s being around selfless service for our beloved sadguru. may we become more and more able to do so, out of love.

Discipline is one of the essential component in life. For healthy body one needs to follow discipline in diet habits and sleeping pattern. Similarly for success at work one needs discipline at  working place. Schooling and higher education helps us to develop this discipline within us. Exemplary message to be executed in daily life. I would like to thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful parents who had educated me with good habits, prohibited me from bad and for inculcating discipline in every part of my daily activity.

Systematically training oneself is discipline ~ 2 Oct 2012

Namaste Puttuji, nice video showing volunteer’s parade and beautiful music. Systematically training oneself is discipline. One must train oneself with no superiors checking. One’s own self must check one’s activities because discipline is not for others but for self. Following discipline is very hard initially but when accustomed to it. It is the best. It gives satisfaction when compared to a confused life style without discipline. Namaste Puttuji.

Sri Swamiji has always insisted on Krama Shikshana – discipline! His daily routine itself is a great example for disciplined life – be it in puja, time management for all his activities and also controlled diet. We have lot to learn from our volunteers who have been so wonderfully trained by Appaji to manage all kinds of work in ashram and outside. They have been very systematically serving the society in various capacities. Let us also practice this discipline in our lives. Without this discipline, a spiritual life is also not possible.
