  1. Pranams Sathguru!

Your eyes and gestures suggest you are extremely annoyed with knowledge & talent making us more arrogant. We cannot say that is because of our ignorance.. because we claim to be knowledgeable & talented!

You are the greatest teacher ever.. who uses the simplest yet powerful examples to help us internalize your concepts. So, here you are.. showing us fully grown crops of paddy that are ready for harvest. They are bent and not straight. As they mature, they bow down to mother nature in all humility.

You have made your point, Gurudeva.

Lord Dattatreya said he learnt humility from water. You want us to learn it from paddy too. In your grace you are relating to as many illustrations as we may require. We are grateful, Gurudeva.

We know that arrogance makes enemies, divides. Humility reinforces relationships, bonds. In your watchful care, the more mature we get, we’ll get equally humble. This is a commitment. Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji.

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji! In today’s world, we are all specialized. Even our doctors only treat one part of the body. We have lost sight of the great whole mystery that is before us. When I first began teaching at the college level I was very intimidated by my colleagues. Then I realized that they only knew a lot about one thing, but were ignorant in areas other than their own. It was a good lesson about how limited we are, even when we have advanced degrees. Your knowledge is so vast, so far beyond the boundaries of any human academy. We are so blessed to have you as our Guru. On this day when many believe the dawn of a new enlightened age is beginning, let us surrender all that we think we know to you, and empty ourselves on this day so that we may be filled with correct insight and knowledge. Sri Guru Datta!

    Dear Swami AVADHOTTA
Oh yes APPAJI, also here is only a small path of rightness. Please bless me with sensibility to go the right way.

    Jaya Guru Datta

What is the purpose of education or talent other than to serve and benefit others, just like the fruit of the tree?
Using it for our egos and personal power is not in alignment with the true purpose.
Thank you Swamiji for showering your teachings and blessings on the world for the good of all beings.

JGD Appaji – As i said earlier for us it is like going to school everyday to learn a new lesson which will benefit in our lives. Thank you Appaji for reminding us that to be good, do good to seek Appaji blessings – it doesn’t mean that if you are educated and you are a king, if possible educate others but not treat them badly – SGD

    Jai Guru Datta Appaji,
A very powerful message on 12-12-12! We are constantly taught by the world to ‘sell ourselves and our skills’ to succeed at the highest level! Our beloved SadhGuru is warning us from falling into that illusionary trap.
You have time and again made us realize that every bit of talent/skill/knowledge we possess has been bestowed to us out of the Lord’s compassion – to beneift the world around us… it is not meant for selfish ends OR to make us feel arrogant!
Appaji advised the Volunteers to feel that they are His body parts while they are involved in Service… and that by giving up our Egos and doership, we can really feel one with Swamiji serving our ‘Datta Mission collectively’. What a profound revelation!
It is said that “A tree full of fruits is always bent down with humility.” Likewise, let us commit to learn many virtues like Humility and selfless service from the trees and become His worthy instruments!
    Forever grateful. Sri Guru Datta!

    Jai Guru Datta,
Yes, Sri Swamiji, this is the sentence I´ve been waiting to hear for a long time. Now I know the fault of mine. Since 10 years I´ve been fighting with the problem in my right hand wich makes me almost invalid as a musician, at least in the way I had been aducated. I´m desperate in finding a solution, but alas – how can I find a solution when I don´t know the cause: here it is: the cause is my arrogance. May You teach me how to be humble, please.
    Sri Guru Datta.

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank You for the message, Puttuji. Reflecting on the message, it’s no surprise then that arrogance led to the downfall of even the greatest leaders, scientists, artists etc. We need to approach our tasks with humility and a good dose of confidence, but not arrogance. The humble Lord Rama always introduced himself as the son of King Dasaratha. Arrogance blinds us to the fact that there is always something more to learn, it leads us to believe that we are better than and know more than everyone else and that eventually leads to our downfall since there is always room to learn and more often than not, there is someone better than us. Like Puttuji said, may we always surrender all our knowledge at the Lotus Feet of our Sathguru so He may guide us. Any knowledge and success we experience is a blessing of the Sathguru. I pray that we always remember that. Obeisances at the Holy Lotus Feet!

I have a talent for making therapie, so that a lot of people ask for help by me. But I know very good: all what I am able tu do is only because Swamiji is showing it to me and because He is helping me. Like this I don’t got arrogant. That is very important. Then I see also, where I should learn more, because my help is not enaugh.

    • Madhu Talwar on December 12, 2012 at 11:48 am

jgd thanks for warning Swami Ji. This arrogance is caused by ego and it should never ever appear in a disciple’s thought. Its human’s right to achieve education and talents with Lord’s grace. It should not fruit arrogance, instead must be practiced as a moral duty to help fellow beings. May Lord as Satguru guide His children onhn sgd

Jaya Guru Datta. Appaji instructed this in so many discourses – “vidyaa dadaati vinayam” and ofcourse a lot more additional aspects as well were given to us. The riches should teach sacrifice and the likes. However, the importance of humility due to the acquired knowledge is paramount. Thanks again Appaji for reminding us.

Whatever we possess is His grace. Without His Blessing no knowledge is possible. When we do not own anything in this world, how can we claim ownership and arrogance? Appaji, we do not want any knowledge or possessions, we pray only to be in Your selfless seva always.

Jaya Guru Datta, Appaji! I can tell from my own experience that this is true. I have been blessed with a great education and yet due to my ego & lack of self-respect, have become arrogant many times. Now I try to overcome this by immediately thanking Appaji & Mataji whenever ‘I’ have been successful. It was Appaji, God, the Divine Mother, who made me successful, not myself. Appaji, please bless me that I internalize this 100%, not only 95%… Sri Guru Datta!

Karya Siddhi Hanuman ki Jai !! Sri Guru Datta !!

  3. Jaya Guru Datta. Dearest Mother Sri Swamiji, everything I have is a gift from You. Any education or talent is all Yours. Please lead me to make good use of it by serving others. Let me remember to never be arrogant because my wealth, health, children, and everything is thanks only to Sri Swamiji. I love you so much. Please help me to be truly humble and know how to surrender. I must be holding onto some kind of arrogance, because most of the time I feel a distance between me and You. Please save me from myself. Let there only be You. Sri Guru Datta.

JGD. I remember Swamiji saying that the end of education is character. Like the perfect teacher He has beautifully re-packaged the lesson here. Dear Swamiji, may we become like Lord Rama, the epitome of flawless character, under Your continued loving graces. JGD.

How true Appaji. As a surgeon the last thing I want in my career is to bask in glory and then have a downfall. I pray Appaji, Dattatreya and Karya Siddhi Anjaneya to give humility all the time. The dividing line between confidence and arrogance is very thin

  4. JGD.Vidya dadaadi vinayam, thus says neeti shastram. So an educated will always be humble. If knowledge does not help one to be modest, the education is useless and baseless. In the absence of base fall is certain,as proclaimed by Our APPAJI.SGD.

By seeing Appaji’s today ‘s MMS, I remember the Eight Slokas in GuruGeetha CD, namely The Guruashtakam ( Praising about Sadguru) . If you go through each sloka, we can realise that what ever may be your education, talent, wealth or good family, what is the benefit or use with these unless you don’t have the blessings from Sadguru. Particularly the sloka (4) is more or less related to this MSG. Further here the Mind is also another important factor for your even all behaviour. In otherwords if we are able to control our mind, we will get the quality of being humble, like the grown crops of paddy. But again to control our mind, we have to follow the spiritual path in our life. At the sametime in this kaiyuga most of the people are interested in worldly pleasures and they have no time to think aboutspiritual path. In such circumstances they will be more arrogant, pride etc. Thereforeto get rid of from this, we have to follow the spiritual path through our Sadguru, Who is the incarnation of Lord Datta himself in this kaiyuga .The photography and the Bhajan are very apt for this MSG. Particularly in the picture Appaji’s expression with His finger down and the Bhajan on Lord Datta says the importance of Sadguru. JGD.

Thank you Sadgurudeva for giving me the experience of this very painful but most valuable lesson even before you entered my life in the physical form. My ego had to rise beyond its limits and I had to fall like a ton of bricks and shatter to pieces before the realization dawned that I know nothing and I can do nothing. The realization has come also that like the grass that keeps growing, despite repeated mowings, the ego keeps lifting its head, in spite of repeated downfalls. I see it in myself and in others. Sadguru alone has completely destroyed his ego and Sadguru alone can destroy my arrogance and ego born out of total. ignorance. I pray humbly and fervently to my most revered Datta Sadguru Avadhoota Swamiji to forever separate me from my ego. Jaya Guru Datta

    • Joseph on December 15, 2012 at 2:09 am

Wow…… that was an excellent message to be followed by everyone to enjoy success in life personally or professionally. If we can understand and experience that all knowledge or talent is only because of HIS grace, then probably there is no chance for us to even presume to be arrogant or igoistic. But how to realise this always, again i feel one can only pray and it’s HIS grace that we can understand and experience the superiority of almighty. May lord bless us all to have humbleness in us like a tree with fruits similarly to bless us all to be humble by sharing our knowledge with others and use our merits to help others without selfishness.

Von Herzen danke ich DIR für diese Unterstützung.
