  1. Gods always bless “So be it” even when our thoughts and words are negative. So, be positive always. This MMS furthers this thought.. It is easier to act ourselves into beliefs.. rather than believe ourselves into actions. A baby learns to walk, it falls.. it gets up and walks again. It is common to err, to fail, to sin, to fall.. What is more important is to get up and walk again. In doing so, we build self-confidence, we make progress. I sing and then believe am a singer. I swim and then believe am a swimmer. The way to tame this mind, is through the body. The past has passed away.. is dead. Shiva is the principle of destruction. The future is always created in the present. Shakti is the principle of creation. Destruction makes way for renewal… these are two sides of the same coin.. as represented by Ardhanareeshwara. So, let’s not be crying over our sins.. let’s start doing good.. Now.

That is a very good thing: each moment I can begin new! It is a decision, which a can do in every minute. I can change all, it needs only a little decision. So I can give at my life in a short time a new direction. Like this all is very free, I can always change. That is a good feeling!

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji, when I was a child, on a visit to a farm that belonged to some family friends (those who decades later provided the cow dung for the kumbaabishekam at DRC!) I stole an egg from one of their chickens. I so wanted to hatch a baby chick. So I took that egg home and hid it under my pillow..It was.my little treasure waiting to be hatched from the warmth of my bed. Of course, my mother found the egg and asked me about it. Innocently I told her my story. Like a good mother, she became angry at me for stealing and made me write a note to our family friend admitting what I had done and apologizing and promising that I would never do it again. Not only did I have to write that note, I also had to return the egg. Making restitution for what I had taken was part of the lesson…and perhaps the most important part, because I had to face that friend. So within a week, we made another trip to the farm and I had to say I was sorry and give back the egg. It was a hard thing to do, but our good friend explained to me that by giving back the egg and admitting I was wrong to take it, I had grown and had learned that stealing from others, especially those who love you was wrong. But also, that with that apology and restitution a new day had begun and I was able to go forward with more knowledge and more self-respect because I had done the right thing. I am grateful to my mother and our friend, who was also like a mother to me. for that lesson, as I am for Sri Swamiji today for this reminder. One can always make a fresh start by doing what is right rather than holding on to what is wrong…

    Jaya Guru Datta
This was your first silent instruction to me Sadgurudeva the very first time that I saw you, when I was deep in depression, filled with anger, guilt, grief, and hopelessness. I knew that I had committed a lot of sins. For those I felt guilty and was angry at myself. I recognized that others were also committing sins. I began to blame them and was angry at them not only for their wrongs but also for making my life miserable. I felt angry at God for the bad things that had happened to me. All I did in that situation was being totally unproductive, groveling in my misery, and making those around me suffer because of my ignorance.
You came into my life like a fresh breeze out of nowhere, comforted me and gave me new hope and a new direction for my life with exactly the above words uttered silently inside my heart. You assured me that humans make mistakes. It is inevitable, because of their spiritual ignorance. But the thing to do is not to sit in a corner and cry, be angry at God and the world, and take out the guilt and anger on others.
“Understand the reason for the mistakes”, you told me gently.
“It is only the wrong concept that humans have, of what their purpose in life is, that makes them commit sins.”
Once the mistaken understanding about life was removed by you, the selfish expectation of pleasure from the world disappeared. To think that the world is here to give me happiness was the wrong understanding. Truth is that I am here to serve the world, not for earning fame for myself, but to do it in the name of my Guru, strictly as per his command.
Once this wisdom dawned in me by your grace, the heart and mind cleared completely of all negative thoughts and feelings as if by the wave of a magic wand.
Thereafter life has been filled with joy. There is no expectation, either from circumstances or from people. There is no fear. There is no anger. Everything is accepted as a gift from God. Life since then is spent in following Guru’s instructions only. What a divine blessing!
Your MMS messages are now reiterating for the benefit of all the viewers, the same points in so many different, simple words such as, ‘Your purpose in life is to help others’. ‘Worldly love and pride of possession are false’. ‘Even a small effort receives recognition if done in a noble way.’ ‘Fill your heart with pleasant feelings and not with enmity.’ ‘Learn to find your inner enemies.’ ‘Gods always bless, So Be It…So think positive always.’ ‘There is no greater penance than peace.’ ‘Good deeds ..’ Chanting God’s names, Chanting Bhagavad Gita and such …’ ‘Prayer enhances … ‘ ‘God has gifted this life for us for us to serve Him,’ and so many other priceless treasures and invaluable gems you are showering upon us daily, saturated with beauty, melody and divinity.

    Jaya Guru Hanuman,

This MMS reminded me of a quote – “To believe is to know that everyday is a new begining”. We tend to hang onto our past mistakes because we feel guilty and are afraid of punishment. Sri Swamiji says – “When we all make mistakes either knowingly or unknowingly with less or more ego, we must acknowledge our mistakes. We must never deny our mistakes. We must never say that we did not commit the errors. We must learn from Kartaveerya to pray for punishment first and then for jnana, spiritual instruction. If we pray that our mistakes should be ignored, but still ask for spiritual instruction, then we will have trouble later. We would have to be born again to pay for our sins.”

By brooding over past mistakes we are spoiling the present which paves the way for future. Let us with courage accept our mistakes, be fearless (as we have Lord Datta with us) and pray for punishment and training so that we do not commit the mistakes again.

Humble prostrations to the lotus feet of Sri Swamiji

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji – This MMS is truly amazing masterpiece – that explains the spiritual symbolism of ‘Arthanareeshwara’ (Destructive Energy and Creative Shakti). Thanks for showing us the promise that a fresh start could and hence, should be made after committing mistakes/sins. In the words of our inimitable Puttuji, we are ‘spiritual toddlers’ that attempt to walk while falling everyday. We will learn to walk gracefully, without ever falling again by holding on steadfastly to your abiding teachings/principles.

Please give us the strength to develop restrain (Nigraha) and a positive state of Mind always!
Humble prostrations to your Lotus feet. Sri Guru Datta.

Inspiring MMS Appaji. I have cried for days on end because I was scared of owning up for all my mistakes. But when I gathered all my strength to own up and feel a sense of repentance, I knew I was standing up again. You held my hand, Appaji, made me walk with You, told me to forget the past and make a fresh new beginning. It takes a lot to ask for strength to face my punishment, but with You, even punishment is not harsh. Thank You for re-iteration. I have skinned and bruised myself, but You have healed and cleansed me. Making a fresh start again with You. Nothing more to ask for!! JGD Appaji, JGD Puttuji.

In today’s MMS,the importance of a guru is seen for guiding us through the right spiritual path. Puttuji you have quoted some examples here by which we can escape from committing  a sin. Here I remember Adi Shankara’s words saying that if you commit a sin to God, you can convey to your Guru who will pray to God and remove the same. But at the same time if we commit a sin to your Guru and if pray to God, He will not forgive the same and we have to face the punishment. From this we can see how much importance the God has given to a Guru. Therefore everybody  is needed a Guru in their life to show the right path and if we travel through that there is no chance for commitment of any sin provided we should also follow His words and teachings strictly. Here in this Kaliyuga we are so fortunate to get our Sadguru who is the incarnation of Lord Datta Himself which means the Avathar of lord Bhrama, Vishnu, and Siva. Therefore Appaji, even if we committed any sin please forgive the same and we will not repeat  and today onwards we will start fresh. JGD.

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji. I found this so timely trying to reconcile the the mistakes of the past with the dilemmas of today. The message is full of Sadguru’s Love for us, Practical wisdom and a call to focus on the present. I learnt the significance of Ardhanareeswara. Very fortunate to receive the MMS from Appaji.

    • Venkat on September 17, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Jaya Guru Datta – what a great sookti. I just recalled another discourse of Appaji where He says, death has to be seen as growth. As expounded by Puttuji in His comment – this death of all the sins, from our previous births and wherever – makes way to the growth – the growth of our spiritual being. The consciousness of ‘real’, with the blessings of Parama Pujya Appaji and the realization of the compassion that the sins are being destroyed – will surely make us all good citizens and better children of our Lord God. What else are we looking for? lets all promise to ourselves about this fresh start RIGHT NOW!!!Sri Guru Datta

    • Vandana Venkat on September 17, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Jaya Guru Datta – yet another gem. One of the very few where Appaji has come on video with the sookti. Great composition – always inspiring and inviting to explore the shiva and gauri tattva.
About the sookti itself – Appaji is asking us not to worry about anything, including the sins – the past karma, the previous misdeeds – nothing – nothing… but just to start afresh today. He is so compassionate to forgive all our sins and/or bless us with a new lease of life from today. This is possible only to true compassion – it is coming out of the motherly, nay, the divine compassion of Appaji, which makes Him think that on this fresh lease, we will not make any more mistakes, that we will be grateful to Him, that we will always think of Him, that we will always behave as good children of His.
What an appropriate bhajan of Lord Shiva’s tattva – this bhajan, as is said in the sookti, appears to be annihilating all the previous sins and blessing us with a fresh start. Thank You Appaji

  5. JGD.Committing knowingly or unknowingly an action detrimental to the interests of others is a sin. This shall have its effects on bothsides. It is past and lost with reference to time of action. As our Sadgurudeva APPAJI advised, better not to recall it and spoil the currency also.Better to start afresh avoiding recurrence of the past undesired occurences of sinful nature. Moreover any action of one is not of an individual, but decided by prarabhda karma of both.As such do our karma with surrendering it to our Sadguru, whom we have to follow with full faith and do as instructed by Him.We will be always sinfree and lamentingfree.SGD

Do not cry that you are a sinner ~ 17 sep 2012

Namaste Puttuji, wonderful bhajan and video showing Arthanaareeswara picturing the bhajan. And a very good quote encouraging a sinner to give a fresh start. That is Guru, always positive. It was told by Appaji in Appaji’s life history that ‘ Even in a sinner, Guru sees one good character and get holds of him to transform him’. when whole world rejects him, Guru will take him near to transform. If Guru also rejects, what will happen to him??? And the bhajan, how can one explain eternal bliss, Mother Goddess. Even the scholars know theoretically what is eternal bliss but cannot experience what it is. Lord Siva alone experiencing it and has become one with eternal bliss. Hence a sinner with Guru’s grace should take a fresh start. Result is near by in the form of Sadguru who is Lord Siva, Eternal bliss. Thank You so much Puttuji. Namaste

Through mistakes we can get aware that we are not on the right path, this is excusable, but what is not helping is when our ego doesn ‘ t want to reconize that we did wrong !! than we make ourselvs very unhappy. i hope to scold my Ego if it doesn’ t want to listen. OM namo hanumate namaha.

Do not cry that you are a sinner – 17/09/12

Fascinating message…. When we are guilty about our mistake, it’s difficult to come out of it. That’s the reason behind confession, so that one is aware of praying Jesus for forgiving and not repeating the same mistake. But this message is also conveying that one should start off with good deeds. This also conveys a subtle message that God gives us another chance to help ourselves by performing good deeds. Sri Swamiji’s MMS are unique and they hold good to be followed by everyone and thank you Puttuji for conveying Sri Swamiji’s message to all of us.
