Jaya Guru Datta. The essence and bliss of Bhagavatam are so mellifluously captured in Pujya Jayalakshmi Mata’s bhajans. Pujya Jayalakshmi Mata was never trained in music, Her artistry, divinity and expertise in music are extraordinary. I recall from Pujya Swamiji’s life history that Her singing would stir the soul of even Her father, Who wasn’t known to be a believer in worship (to him, work was worship). When Sri Swamiji sings those bhajans, we get to experience how the Mother sang them and how every nuance is filled with pure devotion. She wrote the song, set the tune and sang them Herself. Having given birth to Sri Krishna Swaroopa Who was born with rudrakshas around His neck and the holy ash on His infant body, the Mother must’ve experienced great maternal love as she wrote about Lord Krishna.
