The Veda examinations are being conducted here (Veda Patasala) very well. Many examiners and students have come from all over the country to participate. Certificates earned here at Datta Peetham are highly valuable. They will fetch positions for the graduates wherever they may choose to go.
Studying Vedas is not an ordinary matter. It is a very difficult study. The Veda students work extremely hard. It is a great penance. They have to develop an extremely powerful memory and they have to maintain their powers of retention with daily practice of several hours of chanting. Veda exams are not exams where the students can refer to any books. Everything is kept only in their memory. The mantras may be picked for an exam from anywhere in the vast sections of study.
The children begin their studies at a young age. They cannot have any distractions from the outside world. They do not keep talking to their parents on the cell phones. They are not brought gifts and treats from home. You should understand how serious the study of Vedas is. These students develop their grasping skills and memory to such a superior degree that after they complete their twelve year course in Veda, they can very easily obtain their college degrees with very little effort. They will learn to speak better English than most others. They will have the blessings of God to such a great degree that they will own better houses; have better families, and better lifestyles than many. They will enjoy the blessings of both Goddesses, Lakshmi and Saraswati.

Glimpses of Bhaktimala:
Veda Saraswati (the Divine Mother) blesses only those who have janmantara punyam (merit accumulated across many births) and a systematic vamsha sampradaya (family tradition) to learn Veda. Only a few lucky people get a chance even to be able to listen and appreciate the Vedas. Then imagine to learn the Vedas what luck would be needed! You should learn to listen and enjoy a Veda recital. Mastering Vedas is a penance (tapas). Hearing is also penance. Helping Vedas is yet another penance.

Listen to my words. Feeding the hungry, teaching the ignorant, performing multiple marriages, being the friend of the poor, doing unlimited service, protecting the environment, establishing and maintaining ashrams and their branches, teaching the Vedas and the scriptures, being the light to those who grope in the dark, building temples and towers in downtrodden areas, giving free medical aid in villages, providing a mother’s lap to those who are destitute, this is Datta Seva, this is Sachchidananda Seva!!

-Bonsai trees and birds are my two eyes. Nada is my tongue, my nose is Veda.

Poojya Sadgurudeva has a great interest in vedas. He Himself is veda purusha. Not only Vedas but also veda scholors are very dear to Sri Swamiji. Sadgurudeva established a veda pathashala in Mysore Ashrama in the days when running the ashram itself was getting difficult. Still He chose to run the school. He is the only one who has been protecting, promoting and propogating vedas in the properway. For long He has been conducting examinations in Various branches of vedas to the students from all across the country. He takes His time out to attend functions involving vedic rituals. Also – irrespective of His Busy schedules – He always takes time out to interact, speak to and listen to the Vedic Scholors who visit Him and His Ashramas.The veda that is available to us today is only 1%. The rest 99% is yet to be made available to us. Sri swamiji has been trying hard to protect, promote and propogate vedas and vedic rituals.
