The moment one begins desiring something or someone.. his mind is taken over by the object of desire. Until he attains it, he’s restless, like Ravana. After he attains it, that desire grows.. is insatiable. It drains ones energies, from within. Cancerous. It takes away from one’s inherent divinity
Those who’ve no desire are not weak. They are divine, like Jatayu. He traverses the sky like the Sun (Khaga). He fought Ravana bravely, with no self centered desire. Wounded & bleeding, he held on, until he met Ram. That is how powerful one can be, when free from the clutches of desire.. Nishkam
Without desires we’ll be as strong as that rock that withstands lashing by the waves. A little desire to take in some water, shows up as a crack, and water could seep in & break the rock to pieces

Sadgurudeva Sri Swamiji has absolutely no desires. Yet, he gladly and eagerly receives cash and gifts. Sometimes he even asks for gifts and services. Why? Only to give them back to us multiplied many times. We always gain when we make offerings to him wholeheartedly, with love, expecting no return. In my experience, we offered him one house. He has given us three spacious, comfortable homes to live in. We have offered him small amounts of cash. He has made it possible for us to make trips to Mysore ashram from the USA as many times as we wish per year. People wonder. There is no explanation. It is just Jaya Guru Datta. In return for small services, he has blessed us with good health to continue the worthy occupation. It is incredible. The more the devotees give him, the greater blessings and comforts he provides for the growing numbers of followers. His lifestyle is so simple and so devoid of luxuries, it makes me cry sometimes to see the meager quantities of saltless, sugarless, fat free food that he eats, and the plain, skimpy clothing he wears, and the strain he undergoes to serve all of us. There is no doubt in it, that He is truly DIVINE! Jaya Guru Datta

Writing comments for Nandana MMS (as per Sadgurudeva’s command), to me, is like playing some board game like Monopoly or Life. This game of life is not real (137), it is just a dream, we are told. There is absolutely no substance to it. It is all make-believe. At the same time, we have to filter our every thought and keep it sparkling clean (212) because it is said that we ( ‘really’) become whatever we think (111). Knowing that the properties, the money, the dealings, the problems, are all fake, still we play the board games seriously, as if it all really, truly matters, and as if we do get rich or go to jail, or become bankrupt. I have a lot of desires. I need this for making the action. So also I have to desire to experience the Divine World. It is the Vedic knowledge and the grace of the Satguru what gives the possibilty. Swami Ji is both and enjoy his Grace. This a very nice Video

According to me our mind is the root cause for evert thing including the desires. The mind is like a space wherein we fill it up with wanted and unwanted desires and due to that , we have to face lot of problems in our life especially in this Kaliyuga . Therefore here first we have to set right our mind. So if we recollect Appaji’s MMS 192 , it says keep the mind clean always. This we can get through our Sadguru , Who purify our mind and will never get corrupted during that course MMS 84. After this cultivate noble thoughts in our mind , MMS 2. Then once we follow these MMS through our Appaji’ words and teachings, at one stage we will discard our desires and which lead to despondency and it will help us to dispassion, MMS 79. The desires are like waves in the ocean which never stop unless we follow Appaji’ those MMS. Puttuji you have also given a nice explanation for today’s MMS about Ravana, rocks in the ocean which are very apt for this MSG. Therefore Appaji we got your concept and control our mind through your teachings and learn to get rid of our desires and also do our seva for the development of Your mission. The Bhajan is also apt for this MSG , since Lord Datta is a kshipra Prasadi and will guide us from not to have unwanted desires. JGD.
