A river has no choice but to flow towards the ocean.
Elements in Nature have no choice, but to follow their Master’s command. They are happy doing so.
Humans have the freedom to follow or ignore the command from their Guru – One who dispels ignorance. In that freedom to choose, is the cause of all misery for mankind. For, to know and not to do, is as good as not knowing at all. If one doesn’t open his eyes to the shining (velegindi) light (jyoti) all around, he is as good as blind.

Guru is a Friend, Philosopher, guide, teacher ,doctor…There is no one above to the Sadguru.A Guru by his wisdom sets the pace and the path of the disciple and keeps him going towards his goal .Guru by His messages and advices, enriches His disciple and shatters the ignorance ,darkness and problems whatever they are ,that may come to His disciple .The Guru knows the past ,present and the future of not only his devotee but also of the world .Every body in the world have problems but only a few will have the Sadguru.We are fortunate to be a part of Sri Swamiji’s family .He perfectly knows how to mould our life .What else to say, Sri Swamiji is omnipotent ,omnipresent and can take any form, at any time, at any place to save us from distress. Let us follow our Sadguru faithfully .

This is the only mantra we will need to realize the goal of this birth. That is the essence of Guru Gita. Every word uttered by the Guru is a mantra for us. When Prahalada or Dhruva were instructed by sage Narada to pray to Lord Vishnu, the kids did not question the sage’s advice. They didn’t resign to the fact that they were still little children and too young for penance. They just did as the Guru instructed.
We are lucky to have a Sathguru who teaches us everything we need to know about life, everything we need to know about every decision we need to make. When we commit to following His command, He will answer all questions and remove all doubts. Our Sathguru is really our inner self, our inner strength, our prayer, the power of truth, the divine love, walking together in a human body. May we never desire anything but to always follow the Guru’s command, no matter what. Obeisances at the Holy Lotus Feet!
Jaya Guru Datta. This is one of the most critical mandates of the Guru. Regretfully, there are many who question the Guru and try to “correct” or “advise” Him, usually for their selfish purpose. May we learn to be obedient and humbly serve our beloved Sadguru, which may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

In MMS 247, Appaji is saying about ( Self surrender alone is the mark of true devotion) . Now according to me if follow the above strictly, naturally, as a true devotee will definitly obey His command, what ever it may be with out a second thought. Now here Appaji is once again reminding us about the importance of this concept. In this kaiyuga for us Appaji is being the incarnation of Lord Datta Himself, He will always test us in several ways to know our real devotion and also observe whether we follow his words and teachings in the spiritual path. In such condition when ever Appaji command anything to do, our duty is simply to obey and as a true devotee, we have no right to decide whether it is important or not. Incidentally here I want to say one of my first experiences in 1982 , when Appaji visited Cochin . During those days there is no Ashram at Cochin and thereby Appaji was used to stay in my house as well as in another devotee house. This was the practice up to 1991 , till the Ashrama was established at Cochin. Accordingly in 1982 when He visited here, Appaji asked me suddenly to bring one T V to see on that night. During those days TV was not very popular and some how or other I brought one piece and placed in the room where He was resting. The next day Appaji asked me to take the same. On that day Appaji was saying about this and told me that , I have crossed the First step. From this we should learn what ever Appaji says , outer duty is to follow if we are a true devotee. According to me till our life we will be under his test and observation .These are all for our benefit only which we should realise. The photography and the Bhajan played in Harmonium by our late Arogyaswami ( Joythi velagindi ) are very apt for the MSG. JGD.
Jaya Guru Datta Appaji. Yes, Guru’s command – it is not even to be thought for a blink of an eye. Thats what Appaji is showing us in practical. He is showing and leading us from the front to accept, understand and continue to be good human beings in this world. Thanks a lot Appaji.
