  1. Arunasura was famous for egoistic behaviour. He had a boon that no living entity with two or four legs could kill him. That boon was the beginning of his end. The Universal Mother took the form of Bramarambika ( Bramara : Bee) to destroy him

If Almighty were so possessive about His creation, He might have as well made us deaf, dumb & blind.. such that we can’t enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the woods & the wilderness. The way the whole Universe lends itself to continuous exploration by man, is proof that Mother Nature is NOT possessive about her creation

    Pranams Appaji!

You’re the perfect role model for leading a selfless life. You created somuch for us to enjoy & learn from.. bhajan, bhojan, gardens, mantra, ways of worship, kriya yoga, music for meditation, opportunities to be of service.. you created out of love for our progress! We’ll make the most of these opportunities, and be of selfless service to your cause, always

Jaya Guru Datta, as I read this today, I was reminded of a very famous bible quote from Matthew—“Consider the lilies of the field – The fourth consideration is taken from the care which God bestows on lilies. Watch the growing of the lily. It toils not, and it spins not; yet night and day it grows. With a beauty with which the most splendid monarch of the East was never adorned. it expands its blossom and fills the air with fragrance. Yet this beauty is of short continuance. Soon it will fade, and the beautiful flower will be cut down and burned. God “so little” regards the bestowment of beauty and ornament as to give the highest adorning to this which is soon to perish. When He thus clothes a lily – a fair flower, soon to perish – will he be unmindful of his children? Shall they dear to His heart and imbued with immortality – lack that which is proper for them, and shall they in vain trust the God that decks the lily of the valley?”

Jaya Guru Datta. We have read in so many epic stories the effect of this disastrous trait. The possessiveness leads to raaga, thereby leading to dwesha. particularly, the ego that leads a person into the deathtrap. We have read and seen this in life guiding shaastraas right from Ramayana. Thanks a lot Appaji for guiding us away from stepping on such landmines.

    Jai Guru Datta.
May Appaji bless us to have the correct attitude and to always remember that nothing belongs to us, and that everything there is, is because of our Sadgurudev. Thank you Appaji.

    Jaya Guru Datta
    Om Dram Dattatreyaya Namah
It seems to me that every living being wants to be free. Free to discover the reason why we are here.
Everything and everybody in this universe belongs to the Divine. Therefore we can not state that something or somebody is ours.
All belongs to Sri Swamiji. And so do we. And it so wonderful to belong to Him. It is the paradise.
    Sri Guru Datta
    Om Namo Hanumate Namah

  3. Jaya Guru Datta. I remembered this MMS today and held it tight to my heart today as we had the funeral for my father-in-law. We had to let go of his body today as he was cremated. Still I was sad but I know that it was just a body and that his soul is eternal. He will go on to some new body and I have to let go. Thank you for all of your teachings. I have so much to learn but it is easier with you holding my hand. Sri Guru Datta.

In today’s MMS, Appaji is giving or reminding us that we should not have any egoistic behaviour. In otherwords it is a kind of possessive nature which will spoil our carrier and that poison should be taken away from our mind. But this can be practiced only through spiritual path. Here I remember Appaji’s words saying that, when you pray to God, don’t demand anything instead of that praise the God by chanting Mantras what ever you know and after finishing it , we should pray to Him , not to develop any ego in our mind or in our behaviour and also to give a balance of mind to face any bad karmas also. This is because in our life we have to face both good and bad karmas which is His decision and no body can escape from it.Therefore the basic requirement is to control our mind which can be developed only through the spiritual path , for which we need the help of our Sadguru. The very important aspect is that we should practice this from our earlier part of life itself. Otherwise in this kaiyuga , we will be involved more in worldly pleasures and thereby our mind will be disturbed and polluted. To over come this, Our Appaji has got various ways of teachings like Bhajans, healing music, homa, puja, yoga etc. Therefore our duty is to involve in these noble things and can control our mind to a great extend sothat we will be free from the poison of possessiveness . The photography and the music by Appaji in keyboard are very apt for this MSG as Puttuji you have given a nice explanation also. JGD.

    • Ramarao Chengalvala on January 11, 2013 at 11:17 pm

I recollect an earlier MMS which conveys that attachment is the seed of grief and today”s one is an extension to that. If a person is asked what is dear to him, he may enumerate a number of things. But he may not realise that those on which he is possessive are but pegs which constrain him to weep. If what he considers precious vanishes before he dies, he will regret for the loss; if he dies first, he will weep for being part with it. There will be no sorrow if there is no forcible parting. Its only, The Sadguru Sriswamiji is the only one who can give us this enlightenment.Bless us us Swamiji ,to be rich in spiritual wealth than material wealth which is the root cause of possession.JGD.

These words are just the right words for today morning. Just before I had a situation, where I had to say to me: let it go, other people have theire own life, you can’t possess them, they want decide themselves. I also like to decide myself. We must have respeckt for the own will from others.

JGD Appaji – Before we had lot of dreams but once Appaji entered in our lives we solely depend on him and think whenever he wants to give us he will give it any way and the same is taught to our both children. On wednesday my younger son met with small accident and had stitches and we believe that some big accident went away with small one and told the same to my child. They are happy and they read Appaji Ashtotherram every day – Thanks to Appaji for coming into our lives – Millions of Pranams to the lotus feet of Appaji – SGD

Jaya Guru Datta, dear Appaji ! Everything I have belongs to YOU, material possessions, body and abilities. All this exists by YOUR grace. But I forget it again and again. Please bless me to be aware of it all the time and become free from this poison of possessiveness. Jaya Guru Datta

Jai Guru Datta Appaji _/\_ !! Sri Karya Siddhi Hanuman ki Jai !!

The way to win Swamiji’s grace and get close to Him is through devotion and worship with a selfless attitude. Ego is a big obstacle. We must remember that money, brains, and talents are all Appaji- given. Contented life, free from possessiveness alone makes a man happy and peaceful.

Sadguru is like Mother Goddess compassionate and loves everyone equally. He sees no difference. Having attained a human birth, we must learn to behave like human beings, our lifetime is wasted otherwise. Self-centered, selfish, possessive and egoistic attitudes denotes Tamo Gunas (spiritual ignorance).
Praying Sadgurudeva, to protect and free me from these demonic qualities.

Sri Guru Datta !! Om Namo Hanumathe Namaha !! Sri Guru Datta Hanuman ki Jai !!

JGD.The Material Anchor”s to man are the posissions, that he accumlates in the world. The wish to posess is itself is a poison to spiritual prosperity. At times by quirk of fate or karma,.When the great sage “Bharatha” is doing pennace and goes to the river for daily abulations Fate threw a new born deer on to Him,he raised it forgetting His real mission. This is the poisonous affect of Posession.

    JGD Appaji
The tree is not possessive of its leaves …it stands firm and rooted even in winter. Entire creation is like that… its the basic nature.
Similarly we need to get rid of this disease of attachment and possessiveness. Appaji’s life/teachings are a constant reminder for us on how to lead the perfect life full of bliss. Let us be possessive of Appaji’s teachings and nothing else.

Possessiveness results in craving for owning any animate or inanimate. This quality can never let us be calm and peaceful. So it is surely poison that destroys our peace. May lord bless us all to be free from the poison of possessiveness.

Jaya Guru Datta! All possession is only in the mind. It doesn’t exist. But why is possession poisonous? Because, it is unreal and it violently ties us down to all unreal things, depriving us of the nectar of liberation. Possession causes us to worry about this body, our belongings, our bank balance, our family, friends, job. We could lose sleep for days or months over not finding a small piece of jewelry. While we don’t know how long we are going to live, we hanker after lifeless possessions that will cease to exist for us once we cease to exist. Families dispute and even kill each other over property. Grave sins are committed for possession. Yes, possession is poisonous. On the same note, liberation is divine. Everything associated with the divine – Nature, music, compassion, unconditional love etc is liberating. May the dust of Sri Swamiji’s feet liberate us from the poison of possession. Obeisances at the Holy Lotus Feet!
