  1. What’s cooking in your kitchen? Want to be a super cook? Easy to get started.. read some recipes, or watch those cookery shows. But, just reading & listening to every expert chef doesn’t make you one. You must chop, boil, fry, steam & sweat in your kitchen, cooking up some appetising fare.

What’s cooking in your mind? Want to be a Purushottama (Supreme being), whose perfect world is a projection of his perfect mind? Easy to get started.. listening to & reading about Supreme beings. But, real progress begins only when you explore your dark inside, witness that thought flow, reflect on its quality, and clean up that space between your ears. That’s the power of meditation.

Pranams Gurudeva ! You’re our Ganapathi, always in a state of meditation. We know the power of your dhyana, is the secret behind your supreme accomplishments. We’re fortunate to follow you. Thanks a ton for making meditation easier for us, with your Nada. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji

Speeches and Writings can give some descriptions from different things. But they can not more. They can’t describe the truth, can’t describe God. When we want really understand something, we must go into the inner silence. There we find the answers for our questions. It is a inner feeling, an inner knowing. For this we must go in meditation.

    Jaya Guru Datta

Such a beautiful photo of Sri Swamiji meditating in a lotus flower on a calm lake in nature. Meditation unites us with the power of nature, and the universe, the source of our being. Thank you so much for reminding me to sit in stillness more.

Sadgurudeva, when Mata Jayalakshmi is serving the most delicious, nutritious and fresh food daily in the Annapurna Mandiram (Ashram Dining Hall) to nourish me, why would I go after recipe books and cookery shows or even light the stove in my own kitchen? Holding you in my heart night and day fills me with peace and bliss to the brim. What do I know of sitting tight and achieving siddhis and what do I care? You are there. That is enough. JGD Appaji!

I am one of the culprits who have not been following Appaji’s wonderful MMS everyday let alone leave a comment. I have been lazy and have been taking it for granted. I am so so so sorry Appaji for making this mistake. Please bless us all to repent and pay more attention.

This wonderful message brings memories. I was blessed with a wonderful trip to Mysore Ashram this Navaratri and one of the messages that keeps playing in my head like a tape recorder is to meditate. But I have not done that and this message has come to me again to give me a big nudge and remind me to do just that.

    Thank you so much Appaji!

Jaya Guru Datta, the fact that we are meditating means our mind is at peace and balanced. The understanding by peaceful mind is much faster and sharper than any cluttered mind. When we speak or read our mind invariably is also working overtime with different thoughts, hence our understanding is not that clear. By nature we are peaceful and restful (shushupti), this powerful message only reminds us of our true nature. Sri Guru Datta

    • Manu on November 22, 2012 at 12:09 pm

    Jai Guru Datta,
when I read a text I link to information only through my own mind and they may trigger something that is contained within my own mind. Thus the text may produce a recocnition of a truth, wich is limited through the text itself and my own undertanding.
When I hear a speach, the person who speaks transmitts all the experience and the power connected to the subject and I can connect with the field of the speaker. This field is much more than just information coming through words – it´s the life behind them, so the impression I get is much more filled with meaning then the information I take in by reading a text.
When I meditate I encounter everything that is inide of me first hand. I see my mind with my own spirit and connect to that in me wich is conciousness and stillness. I become a wittness to my own mind and therein lies the power of knowing. Maybe one day with the gracious help of my beloved Satguru, I may know how things really are by seeing them as they really are. May Sri Swamiji bless us all with deep rooted meditation and a clear and unwavering mind.
    Sri Guru Datta.

Wonderful Message from our beloved Appaji. A lesson that helps us to contemplate through meditation to seek solutions to all our thoughts. No books or writings will give us a lesson as good as what is given by our Guru, when we constantly think about Him and meditate on Him. JGD. What Silence speaks volumes.Meditation transports the Essence on to the Mind of the Seeker. Many Devotees of Dattatreya are Familiar with Speeches of Silence of His Holiness Swamiji.I am fortunate to Experience the same. What Appaji is teaching?it is not expressed in Words, the teachings reach the seeker as they keep the channel open.Through this portal Appaji”s teaching reach.
It is a beautiful experience. The mind will be waiting to hear what the teaching”s will be?And when there is silence the Mind ponders over what the teaching going to be. This questioning of the self brings out various other questions.Starting with what we want to listen, to our liking or not. When this aspect is settled the inkling of the subject Swamiji is expressing will be evident.

According to me in today’s MMS, Appaji has gone further deep in the spiritual path especially about meditation. Puttuji you have given a nice example about cooking for this concept. At the sametime practice meditation is not so easy for which we have to develop our spiritual path. Here if you take a teacher, he is responsible to build up the carrier of a student from nursery til he complete his studies according to his wish. Similarly we need our Sadguru also for our spiritual path.  Here like nursery our Appaji is giving the first lesson to keep Silence. This you can see while you enter the prayer hall in our Ashrama. He always says not to speak like a chatter box. From silence He will take you to next class naimly…. Disciplene. Here I remember once Appaji was asking me after you associate  with Him what is the change in your life for which I told Him a system has developed in our day today life which gives a good peace of mind and un necessary tension reduced through His first lesson … Silence and disciplene. From disciplene it leads to concentration. For getting concentration we have to controll our mind for which we have to follow Appaji’s words and teachings by listening His Bhajans , healing music, chanting simple mantras, watching Pooja and Homa , practicing yoga especially Pranayama and attending Kriya class etc. Finally once we are able to drive our mind , then it will be easy to practice meditation also. Here I even recollect the MMS33 and45. Therefore if we follow Appaji gradually we can develop our spiritual path and will help us for meditation also which is suprem and can see the God in the form of our Sadguru who is the incarnation of Lord Datta himself. Thank you Appaji for such a wonderful MSG.   JGD

Meditation helps to understand the nature of our own thoughts and only then we can realise the mistakes and thoughts. Speeches and books are definitely good company, but it is knowing theoretically, meditation is trying to execute it practically in thoughts and understand the various dimensions of it. As thoughts are to be explained for our own self consciousness one can execute it better without any hinderence of ego. May lord bless us all with the concentration and self enquiry to practise meditation.

The power contained in meditation ~ 22 Nov 2012

We talk big about being spiritual in life, living a life of Vairagya , and so on. How much do we put to practice the activities required for this path? When we sit and meditate and contemplate, we realize how unsteady our mind is, how hard it is to get our mind to focus on one object! It is very easy to talk about being focused and concentrating, but equally difficult to follow! Our minds keeps running, from one object to another, from one place to another, across various topics and emotions. The only way to overcome this unsteady, fickle and restless mind, meditation is the way. Appaji has blessed us with music for meditation and healing in addition to imparting knowledge of Kriya Yoga. Let us realize the greatness and benefits of this blessing and reap benefits of the power of meditation! Jaya Guru Datta!

Jai Guru Datta thank you Sri Swamiji for nudging me in this direction even after reminding me to be true and loyal to myself! My current sense on how to improve myself involves thinking of others first ! I am so self-centered that it is almost embarrassing ! When I catch myself in the mode of self thinking , I now stop and say how can I be more helpful, grateful, burn off my bad karma, etc . I pray for your grace in this regard ! Sri Guru Datta

Jaya Guru Datta! This message reminds me of the subject of math. You can read math all you want, but until you implement the math problems and figure out the solutions, you can’t really understand it. Similarly, one can read about meditation and liberation all he wants, but without practicing meditation, it’s impossible to experience the bliss. Speeches and writings can guide us in the right direction, but cannot give us that sweet experience. There seems to be nothing else in the world that grants the peace of mind and equipoise that meditation does. And meditation done with the guidance of Sathguru is the most powerful kind there is. Thank You for the message Swamiji to stop reading and just start doing. Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet!

    Appaji looks so mesmerizing!
Practical is always better than theoretical knowledge. No matter how much we read, until we experience we will not get good understanding.
Appaji’s music has the amazing power to take us into a meditative state automatically.
