Some of the Indian spices, like Cumin seeds, Turmeric, pepper, cine min (Darcheeni) and others have medicinal properties. If these in suitable quantity are used in daily diet, these can prevent several ailments. For example, I am taking cumin seeds almost everyday in my diet from many years. At the age of 76 years, I do not have problem of blood pressure; whereas, my other family members – my father and my elder brother both had severe blood pressure problem and till last days of their lives they were taking medicines to control blood pressure. Use of Cumin seeds in everyday diet prevents blood pressure. This is a tested case and I am an example of it. However, let me state that I am a pure Vegetarian do not even eat onion and garlic. My diet is purely SATVIK since my childhood.
