  1. Mahishasura had a boon that he could not be killed by any man. We know he was slain by Goddess Durga. Mahishi, the demon sister of Mahishasura was angry at this, and got Brahma to give her a boon that she cannot be slain by anyone except the son of Siva & Vishnu. Since both were male, she thought she will be invincible forever.
Vishnu took the female form of Mohini, and came together with Shiva to create Aiyappa who destroyed Mahishi.
Asura King Mahabali suffered a similar fate at the feet of Vishnu’s incarnation – Vamana (Upendra).
When every entity in this Universe {Uni One; Verse Song} is an expression of the same divinity, what causes one to hurt the other? EGO – Edges Greatness Out (Repeated for the nth time in this MMS series).
    Pranams Sathgurudeva!
We see your Grace in all of Creation. In serving others selflessly, we rise above our EGO, we serve Your cause, we serve God. In such service, we find our fulfilment.
    Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji

Jaya Guru Datta! Ego edges God out….thank you for this reminder again today and for reminding us all of the importance of service. Can’t wait for the concert on Saturday! How wonderful that South Africa will receive that healing! Sri Guru Datta!

  2. Jai Guru Datta
    Dear Swami AVADHOOTA DATTA
Will we be sinners until we are enlightened? How can we act without mistakes? We have to face our life and duties and we have no taste for slow-motion or repeat; ok repeat, this will come automatically, this is called karma.
But how can we lear without mistakes? Mistakes and sins, let us feel guilty. To lear and to find out what is good and right for me and what is not my way, without feeling bad, guilty, sinful, this would be wonderful.
Sri Guru Datta and lots of love
    Om Namo Hanumate Namaha

    • Manu on April 17, 2013 at 3:09 pm

    Jai Guru Datta,
Ego-perception is based on duality: you and I, good and bad. That´s why this kind of perception is always imperfect. Ego cannot see the whole picture, nor can it see beyond the obvious form and grasp that wich is all connecting and all-perseveering. Due to ego-perception we are ignorant of the fact that everything can be seen as a reflection of God. Seeing the world through the eyes of ego means seeing the world of differences, non-agreement, unreliability, danger, death and corruption, instead of a world that is only and purely love and perfection. Ego sees the world outside its mind, instead of seeing it as an echo of the love that we are and actually a dream within our mind.
Please, Sadgurudeva, open our eyes, so that we can see the world and ourselves as being in Gods Hands only.
    Sri Guru Datta.

As I see these messages about ego, I am realizing that all happiness and sorrow is a result of ego. We learned that ego is the source of all sins. Now, I see that ego is the platform on which our sins survive. Thank You, Swamiji for creating the awareness in me of my own ego, which rages like a wild fire and destroys all peace of mind in its path.
Your creation is so wonderful, Swamiji. You’ve given us only one impediment in reaching Your Lotus Feet. This impediment called ego leads the mind in to believing that the body and mind are what I am. That’s what is causing me to sin. Bad thoughts are as harmful as bad actions You taught us. Ego first manifests as bad thoughts before getting converted to actions. Next time I catch myself with a bad thought, I know I’ll have to look, not at the situation, but at my own ego.
Ego has infinite lives – every time I think I overcome it, there it is again, right the very next second. Only with the Sathguru’s grace can the ego be conquered.

  3. JAYA GURU DATTA! Shathakoti Shastanga Pranams to lotus feet of Parama Pujya Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji, it is True Appaji, Thank you for sending a valuable MMS. SRI GURU DATTA!

In today’s MMS 322, Appaji says ego is the basis for all sins. That means the ego is the foundation stone for all sins. If such a foundation becomes strong, then the intensity of our sin increase. Puttuji you have given a nice explanation also for this MSG. In the case of mahishasura, his ego basically was very strong and that is why his life was ended in the hand of Goddess Durga. Similarly in the case of his sister mahishi also the same fate. Here Aiyappan was created and her end was in His hand. The photography and the Bhajan are apt for this MSG. From these we can realize ego is the foundation for all sins. In Mother’s creation in nature , our Appaji gives so much compassion to trees, plants, animals, birds and humanbeings. Therefore we should also develop the spiritual knowledge through the teachings of ourAppaji and learn to give compassion to others and should not give any chance to develop any ego in our life while we do anything. Thank You Appaji for such a nice teaching and we follow You. JGD.

  4. JGD! One of my favorite bhajans! Ayyappa! Perhaps Ayyappa will come and help me with ego issues! Ego bridled by God.. Ayyappa! Ayyappa!
Is Swamiji looking at the sky and the souls which fly like birds unweighed down by Ego? Ayyappa I miss listening to that song…Thanks for introducing it to me once again! It put a smile on my face! Ayyappa! Pranams to YOU Swamiji!

Jaya Guru Datta. Wonderful bhajan and a great video. Another uniqueness I observed about this MMS is that it is probably the longest in the Nandana series. Ego is such a strong and powerful inner enemy that the message has to be repeated so many times in different forms for us to even try to get rid of that. It is only Appaji’s grace that can keep us away from ego. This is something that we should constantly think of and only then we may even get a chance to knock out ego. thank You Appaji for a very patient teaching and please bless us all to reach that state of ego-less-ness. Also, the appropriate God invoked, Lord Ayyappa shows us ways to kill ego with strict discipline. Jayaho Appaji

I think, we cannot act without mistakes. By our mistakes, we try to learn.
When we focus on our sins, we can very quickly get disappointed.
We look away from truth, we try to avoid truth, in order not to feel ashamed and guilrty.

If we focus on the learning effect and the positive action that will hopefully result
out of Life`s teaching, we can walk towards success.
“Let`s turn towards the sun, then the shadows will fall behind us.”
This is a very nice saying in my view. Let`s turn towards Sri Swamiji, our teacher.

    322. పాపాలన్నిటికీ అహంకారమే మూలం. ఓం మహాదేవసుతాయ నమః – ఓం ఉపేంద్రాయ నమః

    • Hira Duvvuri on April 20, 2013 at 11:11 pm

    • Hira Duvvuri on April 20, 2013 at 11:41 pm

As I understand from Sri Swamiji’s teachings, ego is the wrong understanding, mis-understanding, the ignorant belief that ‘I’ is the body/mind/name complex that each of us identifies ourselves with. Swamiji, who is free from ego, identifies Himself with all that exists. With our narrow outlook, we seek happiness for ‘me, and mine’ alone, considering all others as unimportant or less important. To obtain our pleasures we deceive and deprive others of their due, their comfort, cause harm, and incur sin. Swamiji, on the other hand considers the whole world as his body/mind/name. His happiness is the happiness of all. The entire Creation is He, and His family. Hence, his bliss is eternal and He is ever fearless and sinless. We suffer by engaging in sin. JGD

How do we every get rid of this Ego Appaji! We all are filled with it, that is why You are stressing this in so many messages..Only by cleansing our hearts with Your music, filling our hearts with You..doing selfess seva, we can get in the process of edging this ego out.. The process maybe painful and difficult, and the journey very long..but as long as You are near, there is no fear!
