  1. A clarion call from His Holiness to His disciples. The perfect timing amplifies its impact.

The deity being invoked in today’s Navavarna Puja is Saraswathi – The Goddess of Learning. Learning is complete only when the knowledge acquired is transformed to wisdom through diligent practice. So, this Sunday, this 144th MMS provokes reflection about what we’re doing with all the learning we’ve had in this forum.

When we practice the knowledge acquired here, we’ll be role models, inspiring others to follow. This is Gurudeva’s expectation of us – Practice. Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa – who was inspired by Kali Mata – expected the same from His chosen disciple Swami Vivekananda.

Dear Saraswathirupa Sathgurudeva, We are your inspired Vivekanandas, practicing your order. In doing so, we’ll inspire people around us to live the higher life. This is the best service we can ever do to you, your mission, to society & to ourselves. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji.

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji! So many years ago, you told us not to chase after our family and friends asking them to come to you, but instead for us to allow them to see what happens in our lives, how our behavior changes and that alone will convince them. How true those words are…so many watch devotees to see what is going on in their lives, how they act, how they treat others…people often judge Swamiji by how we behave….

JGD! Our Sadhguru is the biggest inspiration for the way he uses his time in various social activities. He uses his time so meticulously, that it looks he has more time. But in reality all of us have the same time. Then how do we make a sensible use of time, this art can be learnt only from the beloved sadhguru. Coming to inspiration, the sadhguru spends his time in doing service to the mankind through new innovative musical healing ragas, meditation & healing concerts, Discourses on epics, Kriya yoga, social activites include the charity hospitals, school for the poor, Home for destitute women -Amma vodi, school for handicapped & special needs, bonsai garden, Annadanam, the list is exhuastive.

  2. Appaji patiently forgives us our many mistakes. Let us try to be like him. Then perhaps others will follow our example and the world will have less anger, irritation and impatience. Appaji offers prayers every day no matter how busy he is. Let us follow his example. Perhaps others will copy us. The world will then be a more peaceful place. Appaji is always cheerful and smiling. Let us inspire others by being like him. Perhaps the world will be a happier place. Appaji is always helping us and teaching us in so many different ways. Let us follow in his footsteps. Perhaps others will get inspired by us. The world will be a more friendly place then. Jaya Guru Datta

Jai Guru Datta! Giving the good example makes ourselves happy because we transforme ourselves. And for the others it is so much more efficient than any – and may be the best – talk. Often have i been inspired by observing how others do. For giving a good example “our beaviour, anger and tongue should always be kept under control”.
The pictures are as beautiful as we become being a good example.

  3. i will definitely try to be role model, b y grace of sri appaji

    Jai Guru Datta,
I think this Phrase of our beloved guru diggs deeper than it seems at first sight. Here we are called upon to utilize our own full potential. Befor I can be an example or an inspiration to others I need to be inspired myself or I must have followed a discilpine or some example myself. Otherwise there´s no substance. For this to happen I must go deep inside myself and find out what it is that really moves me and then find the strenght and the trust to keep going till accomplishment sets in. I´m so gratefull that I am with a Guru who pushes me into that direction and not just wants me to be a mere puppet and blind believer or follower. To such a great Guru I fully bow down and give full trust and respect.

appaji one day my son ask me why are you taking class up on my marks i got 98 marks please leave me . then i told him that with example of appaji’s life history that is “in appaji’s childhood days he got 99 marks in maths but his sir beat him very much then appaji asked him only one mark i lose the other boys got 60marks why did not punish them then his sir said that if i punish you you will get 100 marks on the next time they will not get so i punish you. that is the reason”

JGD. In practising Guruji words, MMSs etc, inspiriring others, seems to have an in-built hazard of self-agrandisement. Truly, may such egotistic tendensies be nullified; may we function only as instruments of Datta; may Datta’s will be done. JGD.

A friend made a powerful statement – “You watch the world with just two eyes. But the world is watching you with two hundred eyes.” The world is also judging my Sadguru by my words, actions, and attitudes. That makes it all the more important for me to watch what I say, what I write, what I do and how I do it. My Sadguru has transformed me by his words, but more so by his actions. Others may not be ready to hear my words, but surely they see how I act. I will try my best to be constantly alert Sadgurudeva, that my behavior reflects you in a positive light and that it exerts a positive influence on others. There is no need for me to wonder how to be a good example. All I have to do is simply imitate you. Jaya Guru Datta

All what Sri Swamiji is doing has such a powerful shining beauty because His words and deeds are one. He teaches us not only by His words but by His example.
We learn not only by listening to His teachings but by practicing His words.

We should all try to conduct ourselves as if Appaji is watching- because He is! One of the best ways to please Sadguru is for us to practice what He preaches. We can show others a better way of thinking and acting and so make our world a little bit better. Jaya Guru Datta. Om namo Hanumate namaha.

Jaya Guru Datta! Swamiji’s life is His message. Sri Swamiji is an exemplary citizen, an exemplary social worker, an exemplary giver, an exemplary Guru, an exemplary Avadhoota, an exemplary friend, an exemplary orator…the list goes on. It’s because Sri Swamiji walks the talk that we are all inspired to listen to Him, to follow in His footsteps. Similarly, Lord Rama’s life was His message. Hanuman’s devotion to Lord Rama is the message to all devotees. These great souls didn’t just talk, they walked their talk. That’s why we want to be like them. By holding ourselves to the standards that Sri Swamiji sets for us, we can slowly become examples to our friends and neighbors. When parents practice what they preach, the children will listen respectfully. Fortunately for us, Sri Swamiji is the one stop shop for all knowledge we need – social, economic, medical, spiritual etc. There’s no dearth of information or inspiration. It’s only our determination that needs to be put to work. Obeisance to the Holy Lotus Feet that shines like the sun in the hearts of all devotees!

Then through Sadhana we will in turn by Your Grace be role-models for those around us. That is how we will be able to serve you by spreading Your divine message to all those around us.

Thank you for making us whole and complete each day. You are a role-model to the entire universe. You are lord Rama in this yuga.. We will be your dutiful hanuman and spread your message and teachings diligently.

Jai Datta, Appaji. With You, the Greatest of All Lights, as our Guru leading us, all these little lights (Your children) are certain to shine, are certain to succeed, are certain to glow as good examples. Oh, Sadguru! Such is the power of Your compassion! Your influence can not be fathomed. May we continue to be the faithful Sila’s (rocks), allowing You to chilsel us into wondrous Silpa’s (idols). Sri Guru Datta.

Jai Guru Datta Appaji – Om Aim Saraswatyai Namaha.
Thanks to our Epics, Upanishads and Puranas – we have very many Divine Exemplary incarnations to model our life on. But since we don’t make the time to study our scriptures and Puranas, out of sheer compassion for us, Paramapujya Appaji has incarnated in this Yuga amongst us – as a shining example of an absolute state of Sachchidananda.
Let us consitently make the effort to remember and follow His teachings to such a extent where our Life becomes His message! Pujya Gurudeva – Please bless us with the devotion and determination of Swami Vivekananda and Lord Hanuman, to follow your teachings incessantly.

    Pranams to your Lotus feet!

Exemplary audiovisuals and message. Good words are inspirational, but following righteous path and extending helping hand will surely inspire others, like Mother Teresa is an example spending her entire life in helping others. King Rama had also set an example as role model for all who wants to lead a righteous path. Similarly all of us should try leading a righteous life so that we can also make an attempt in setting an example.

  6. jai Guru Datta, we will be your inspired Vivekanandas, practicing your orders.

    Set a good example ~ 21 Oct 2012

Namaste Puttuji. Nice video with wonderful music. Thank You. Set a good example. Be an inspiration to others is a very good quote. Appaji’s life history is the best example. In Appaji’s life history, Appaji guided many saints giving examples from His own life. Jaya Lakshmi Mata was set as an example as a best housewife. Amma’s parents become awestruck when they see her manage her house and family members and describes her house as kailasa. Amma is the best example of house wife and mother and Appaji is the best example of son who followed her each word because of which we got Nandana SGS MMS today. Disciple must follow every word of his Sadguru. Namaste Puttuji.

    Set a good example ~ 21 Oct 2012

Some special people motivate and inspire others to go in the right direction and they, along with everyone else, sacrifice to get there. This video shows two great personalities of our country, Sri Ramakrishna Parama Hamsa and His beloved disciple Swamy Vivekananda. This is very good example of how the Guru sets an exmaple to the disciple, who in turn follows His Guru and inspires the whole world. Mahatma Gandhi by way of his ahimsa movement set an example to the world. Even today many people follow the footsteps of the great mahatma.
Sadguru sets an example and inspires us to follow them. When we follow Sadguru’s example, it’s like holding up a light. Our example helps others to find their way in this world. People will rarely remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

Pujya Appaji`s daily routine in the ashrama is a great example to all of us to be in a disciplined track. Everything that pujya Appaji does is an example to us. HIS speeches inspire us all the more. Our job is to just follow them. This way we will be setting an example to others around us. We must remember one thing, that people are always watching us and observing our actions. Any wrong thing done will reflect on our Guru. So let us be cautious in what we do and just follow our master. I am sure this way we will set an example to many people around us and inspire them to follow Pujya Sadgurudeva Appaji. Shree Sadguru Charana Arpanamastu..!

    Set a good example ~ 21 Oct 2012

Sri Swamiji is a true example for this message! Sri Swamiji has single handedly brought up this great institution of Avadhoota Datta Peetham! Every structure in Ashram is testimony to Sri Swamiji’s hard work, innovative ideas, service to mankind, – all to uphold our Dharma! Be it Nada Mantapa, the Universal prayer hall, Vishwam museum, Saptarshi Sarovara, Bonsai garden, Nakshatra Vana, Sri Datta Venkateshwara Temple, SGS Charitable Hospital – every activity in these centers inspires us to work in the right path, with the right intention of helping mankind. Having been under the guidance of Sri Swamiji, we must imbibe His qualities, at least to some extent. As followers and disciples of Sri Swamiji, we must reflect His principles, and stand for His mission. This is indeed for our own benefit as we gain merit for being the path of righteousness. Sri Swamiji’s daily routine itself is an example of how we must live a disciplined life. Importance to right food at the right time with exercise is shown in Sri Swamiji’s practices to maintain health. Let us all follow our Sadguru and be an example to those in the outside world! Jaya Guru Datta!

oh my god! I thought, what a level You set, as I recognised paramahamsa ramakrishna and vivekananda in this mms. I often feel manasa datta with his powerful personality being sri swamijis vivekananda. and how he inspires us again and again and how he, as vivekananda did, can open and set aflame our spiritually stubborn and clouded western mentalities for the light and the love of the Divine and make sri swamijis millionfold lucent aspects intelligible. just by knowing that by the power, love and grace of our beloved sadguru everything is possible, I imagine that You can bring forth in us traits of those Divine inspirations. please give us the courage and the thorough power to practise Your teachings in every moment of our lives.

Receiving and giving, learning and teaching (helping) are two very different sensations.
Therefore it`s not easy for me to “switch”.
On the one hand, I feel a bit insecure in learning process, on the other hand, I feel safe and content,
sometimes overflowing, so that I gladly and joyfully want to share my experiences and try to help.
When I`m in this inspiring mood, I have the feeling that the result is quite good. Feedback is good.
So it`s always a to and fro, and it makes life an adventure !

I`m glad for this MMS, because it reminded me of my duty, to inspire also, to be active,
sometimes I forget … dear Datta, please forgive …
How thankful I am to rely on YOU, You give me the strenght to “switch” .

Appaji is training us to be perfect Datta Devotees, good role models. Whatever we are learning, and realizing we need to practice, implement. Just bookish knowledge is of no use to anyone.
