  1. Sin (pāpa) connotes adharmic actions- negative karma leading to negative consequences.
True knowledge lies in ‘seeing’ the ONE in everything -MMS 24. He who ‘sees’, follows his dharma. He sows care, kindness, helpfulness & generosity towards others.. reaps the same in return. He knows no sankata/sorrow. He who ‘does not see’, fails to follow his dharma.. accrues runa/is in debt.
When a sinner opens up to True Knowledge, and translates his Knowing into Being & Doing, his sins get reduced to ashes. If not, he’s reduced to ashes. Ravana abducted Rama’s wife. That negative karma – in spite of advice from Mareecha, Mandodari, Vibheeshana – reduced him to ashes. Valmiki was a thief & killer. When he followed Narada’s advice, his sins were reduced to ashes. That’s the power of imbibing True Knowledge.
Dear Gurudeva, You’re our Ganapathi. We’ll imbibe the True Knowledge you radiate, and get vimochana/liberation from sankata & runa. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji.

It is just that, what I experience now: where I had no knowledge, I became problems. Today I realised it and I saw, that I didn’t want see things because I had fear to see problems. But then I was never sure about different things and all was difficult. Today I decided, that now I want know and I will look for answers!

  2. “True knowledge reduces all sins to ashes”. once the seeker acquires knowledge of himself and the surroundings, he would find Omnipresence of The Divine in every thing and thus he would not commit any sin. He would also repent the sins he has earlier committed. This repentance washes off all sins. The knowledge that every thing is the manifestation of divine would never allow any one to commit a sin. Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji! This is a beautiful video this morning, and as I watched the colors of creation pulse from your hand, I was reminded that You are everywhere, and that the entire world and all its beings and inhabitants are your tools for giving us true knowledge. You can use anything or anyone to bless us or to teach us…..what a wonderful thing—we can never be separated from your classroom…..Sri Guru Datta!

    • sridevi on September 26, 2012 at 9:33 am

Jai Guru Datta! When we don’t identify neither with the body nor with the mind, where can there be any space for sin? When we realize that we are “THAT” something like sin cannot exist any more. That’s why: practise… practise…..practise…. kriya yoga, repeating the divine name, meditation, singing, service to Guru …..visiting Guru….. listening to His music to make us fit to receive HIS grace which alone can give us the divine knowledge. The two sides of the coin – practice and grace. Let’s do it!

Jaya Guru Hanuman, Thank you Puttugamji for the beautiful explanation. True Knowledge helps one untie the knots that we have tied ourselves. As Sri Swamiji says – “A thorn can be removed only with the aid of another thorn. In the same way, Karma can be set off only by karma”. With true knowledge we can offset the bad karma with good karma.

By following Guru with sincerity, devotion and doing Guru Seva we can attain true knowledge that can reduce our sins to ashes.

Humble prostrations to lotus feet of Sri Swamiji who is Runa vimochakaya

Yet another lesson, teaching us to discover out true purpose in life. Discovering who I really am. At least walking the path that Sadguru has chosen for us without doubt will help us start the real journey. That first baby step will help us start the process of burning our accrued sins. He picked us up from amongst so many living beings, to walk with Him on His path. All we can do to thank Him is to follow His word to the “T”. Yes Appaji, I am still discovering a lot, so many more lessons to learn. So far, I myself can see the transformation. Thank you for all your guidance. Love you Appaji. JGD!!

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank God for our Satguru who is Maha Ganapatideva! Just by being He radiates that Supreme knowledge that dispels our ignorance and sin. We should remember Him constantly and pray for His guidance in all situations. Sometimes just with a look, smile or gesture, a dream, a word, or simply remembering how He was on a particular occasion, we get the answer we are looking for. Pranams to such a Satguru who removes our obstacles and destroys our sins!

    • Glory of Rama on September 26, 2012 at 3:54 pm

There is nothing in all the worlds through infinity and eternity that can match the fire of true knowledge that can only be granted by a Sadguru to a disciple. In an instant it frees the disciple completely. It liberates totally. It sets one absolutely free. When it happens, nothing remains. Except bliss. Even the one to experience the bliss is absent. Only sugar; None to taste the sugar. Only the sweetness remains. Where then is the question of sins or debts? Ganapati, the presiding deity of Fire consumes them all, not even leaving a trace of their existence. Perhaps even ashes do not remain. Everything simply vanishes into thin air like in a magic trick.
What is this true knowledge? What does that moment of sudden and permanent release from bondages feel like? One floats in nothingness, pervading everywhere, absolutely weightless. There is no form, no name, no identity, no past, no present, no future, no thought, no feeling, no good, and no bad. It is just being; being total unadulterated bliss. There is no in; there is no out; there are no boundaries; no horizons. Time and space are non-existent. In an instant, worries, concerns, guilt, regrets, anticipations, desires, pains, pleasures, attachments, longings, wishes, fears, insecurities, sufferings all just are not there anymore; it is as if they never ever existed. That is what true knowledge does to one. It is Sadguru alone, who has the power to grant it. No wonder that Lord Shiva declared in the Sri Guru Gita so emphatically and vehemently –
“Na guroradhikam Na guroradhikam Na guroradhikam Na guroradhikam
Shiva Shaasanatah Shiva Shaasanatah Shiva Shaasanatah Shiva Shaasanatah.”
There is none that is superior to Guru.
    Sri Guru Datta

In that moment, over a decade ago, when Sadgurudeva ignited within the heart the spark of true knowledge, my anger vanished. My guilt vanished. My expectations vanished. My fears vanished. My regrets vanished. My sorrow vanished. My questions vanished. It was the dawn of my new life. True, it took time for the fire to get fully lit and to begin to burn steadily. The fire needed to be stoked to be kept alive. Fuel needed to be added. Some smoke had to be endured. Attachments remain to a certain level towards family members. Expectation for a level of comfort for the body remains. But in the busy schedule of trying to keep up with Guru’s instructions, not much time remains to dwell in the past or to dream of the future.Sins and debts are surrendered at Sadguru’s lotus feet. Understanding gets firmed day by day, that the doer and the knower is entirely the Guru and what remains here is only a witness to the indescribable wonder. Sri Guru Datta

The fire of true knowledge – 26/09/12

True knowledge gives awareness and prevents from committing new mistakes. This is a new concept to me that “The fire of true knowledge reduces all sins to ashes” because i’m aware that a good deed or a bad deed gives results as fortune and misfortune respectively. But I was wondering what is the end for this cycle? As long as we live with a form there is every possibility of committing new sins. Today’s MMS is answer for my query, is there an end for the deed and result cycle? and the answer being, by attaining true knowledge. Thank You so much Pujya Sri Swamiji for this fantastic message and please bless to complete my journey towards true knowledge.

The fire of true knowledge ~ 26 Sep 2012

Namaste Puttuji, nice video with beautiful music. Thank you. The fire of true knowledge reduces all sins to ashes. Highly spiritual quote. In Guru Gita, Appaji says that second when the light of bliss sparks, reduces all sins of a sadhaka into ashes. Sadhaka must reduce all bondages and develop bondage only with Sadguru who alone can make you realise your true self. Even before praying Ganapathy, a true sadhaka must pray Sadguru for the well being of Sadguru as He is pervading in the whole universe and the whole universe is in him. Well being of Sadguru means well being of the whole universe which includes the self too. Om Sadgurubhyo Namah. Namaste Puttuji.

Seeing the ONE in all and everything, helps … being kind, helpful, caring and generous, as Puttuji says, also helps a lot. What a good mixture ! It sounds so “simple”. Therefore it`s a nice strategy to me !

Dear Swamiji, THANK YOU for helping us.

I cannot know the depth of sin that has been incurred by this soul throughout so many lifetimes. What I can be sure of is the message that my Datta Sadguru has given. It is the gift of True Knowledge given by Him that will burn them, but I must utilize those treasures. Thankfully they are blissful exercises of Nada. Whether it be the music He plays, or the music of His speech. Living life with this comforting knowledge is one of Peace. Thank you Appaji. Jaya Guru Datta

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank You for this message, Puttuji! Reflecting on this message, it’s clear that true knowledge is very powerful. The knowledge of the Self teaches us not to react to the ups and downs in life. It teaches us to always be happy, no matter what, because all that truly exists is happiness, the Sachchidananda. Everything else is the illusion of the mind. The true state of the Self is unending joy. So, true knowledge helps us experience the true state of the Self, dissolves the problems of the body and the mind and burns away our karma and sins. If true knowledge is so powerful, why are we hankering after worldly knowledge? Because of Maya! Sathgurudeva, we seek Your blessings as we try to remove this layer of deep seated ignorance so we can pursue true knowledge and not knowledge of this transient world. Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet!
