  1. It can’t get candid than this!

    Dear Suryaswaroopa Gurudeva,

Last week you taught us it is sinful to see a Guru as an ordinary human being – MMS165. You then taught us how to see the Guru – MMS170. Now, you’re teaching us how to serve the Guru. You’re literally bringing the water to the horse. We’re grateful

Our prayers are full of petitions, Gurudeva. We seek money, comforts, pleasures.. and spend all our life striving for these. Since our world is but a projection of our minds, we assume even you’ll be pleased by such offerings, as we seek.

But you have higher aspirations for us. So you want us to rise above such triviality. You’re lighting a candle for us, by defining what it means to serve your mission.. being good-hearted, compassionate, devout, generous & serving others selflessly. And, you’re demonstrating these virtues every moment. We’ll follow you. Please keep raising the bar. Meeting your expectation is our life purpose. Jaya Guru Datta, Your Puttuji

Jaya Guru Datta, Swamiji! These lessons that you are giving us are such an incredible blessing! Every day I look forward to coming here to see what new beautiful videos have been created. You give each of us so many different ways to serve. The most beautiful thing is that we can serve from wherever we may be…. Your grace is everywhere, your teachings can come from any place and any thing, as can your gifts. We need never ask for what we want, we need only wait because you will give us exactly what we need….I always marvel at how you bring new ideas, teachings, corrections, etc into my life…I am so grateful for them…Sri Guru Datta!

JGD.Guru”s FEET are the witness for the acts we do to please the Guru. There are many features in Dattapeetham to serve Guru. The Major being the “Nitya Annadana” and Share your Food.Dattaseva is another service through which many essential Aid to needy is done.To support is one thing and to support and get involved is another, by which Guru feels Happy. It is not the quantum of service but the dedication and Love towards Guru that shows our love towards Him.

What I feel from Swami Ji I can never give as gift to Him. Al material gifts has no relation for what he is giving. I am always surprised about his contact material or immaterial. I thank Swami Ji for his blessings and try to do my best to use this properly and help other people for what is possible.

Jaya Guru Datta. Dearest Mother Sri Swamiji, this is all Your creation…we are all Your children. I know that the way to my heart is through my children. Please let me serve all of Your children, out of love for You. Let me see You in them… I most need help with this with people who I (wrongly) perceived to be enemies. You have shown me that they are actually teachers and I know that this is a great opportunity to grow spiritually. Please hold my hand and help me serve You by serving Your children. I know that this in reality only helps me. Please help me to be a friend to myself in this way and to stop clinging to old hurts. I love you, I love you, I love you. Sri Guru Datta.

Jaya Guru Datta, dear Appaji! When you allow me to touch Your Lotus Feet, I hardly dare to do it. I feel so shy, with a feeling of not being worth it, coming with the „bad smell“ of all my sins. May I change and be transformed into a good and humble devotee, getting those five virtues in order to serve you in the best way possible. Sri Guru Datta.

  2. JGD.Exactly,Guruseva is the one to follow his teachings and propagation of His mission with His vision to serve the living beings, without discrimination. In short, Bahiranga Yoga practices are much helpful to achieve the qualities described for Guruseva by Our APPAJI.SGD.

Blatant MMS. None can tell us more clearly how to serve Guru. In my experience, I think we earn the right to serve the Guru. May be because of our love for Him and His compassion for us, He gives us a chance to serve Him, he creates opportunities and it is upto us to find them and utilize them. Not just pressing His feet, not just gifting, He is asking us to be compassionate to all animate beings, have a good thought, do a good deed and have a good and happy heart, generous with what we give away. Again, the receiving end is not lucky to receive what we generously give away, it is the giver who is lucky to find a receiving hand. We really need to be generous towards less fortunate beings. Serving others does not have to mean a lot, just holding an old person walk up or cross the road, anything that is in our reach and sometimes out of our reach definitely goes a long way. Oh Sadgurudeva, you are the sarathi and we are the Arjuna’s who need your guidance at every step. JGD.

All the religions are like windows, doors
which lead to THE SAME LIGHT.
    When i watch this video
i feel standing in front of that LIGHT
    uncovered, just as I am,
    from heart to heart
    directly called by my name.
Yes, I want to Follow You, Master,
with all my cells, thoughts, heart and deeds.
    Beeing accepted by You,
    to contribute to Your mission
is the unique chance of my life.
Please let me drop all facades and hindrances,
help me to become pure, genuine
to serve You and others how You teach us.

I think always, that my actions in the world should be like this, that everyone can see, that I have a good teacher. When I make good deeds, they see, that Swamiji is teaching his devotes in a good way which helps the whole world. So they think good about Swamiji and are interested in Him. Perhaps they begin to herr His music or to accept themselves as teacher. So a can help to the world in the sin from my Guru and hope so strong, that Swamiji will be happy about me.

    Jaya Guru Datta,
dear Puttuji, this mms is leading me to think about the process of achieving perfection in action (Karma Yoga). Prince Arjuna and his friend, the chariot driver, Lord Krishna had a conversation. Arjuna was in great sorrow because of the oncoming battle in which he has friends and relatives on both sides. Krishna encouraged Arjuna by/through which he should indeed continue with the fight on righteous principals (like Karma Yoga).
Like Lord Krishna, our beloved Swamiji is teaching us about serving Guru the right way.

    Jaya Guru Datta Puttuji,

You have clearly explained, that just because we have material desires and our outside is a mere reflection of such desires , we should not construe that such things influence the Guru.

This message also instructs what we should strive for – good humane qualities. Such qualities will bring us near Pujya Appaji and like the Dove in MMS 170 help us merge into our dear Sadgurudeva.

Thank you for a candid explanation to a candid MMS. Dear Puttuji, you also make the horse drink the water !!
    Sri Guru Datta !!

The best way to serve Sadgurudeva is to follow his example and teachings. Let us show others the kindness, compassion and love that HE shows to us. As HIS devotees we represent Swamji in the outside world. Of course Appaji always knows how we behave and think so let us act the way HE has taught us. Om namo Hnumate namaha. Jaya Guru Datta.

  3. JGD. Sri Swamiji is a living example of all the virtues listed for serving Guru. I recall a statement of Appaji where HH enumerated the myriad ways He served devotees, and asked that we ruminate on how devotees should serve Sadguru. Here’s the answer. Emulate Sri Swamiji’s good hearted ness, His compassion and all the saintly qualities He so generously shares with the world. Thank you Gurudeva, Bless so your children become just like You. Sri Guru Datta

what a relevant message. by asking us to be good hearted, compassionate and generous, Appaji is making a good human being of all of us. Just continue doing all this and we will be good Datta devotees and we would have earned the right to be called Datta Sevakarthas. Jaya Guru Datta!

    • Joseph on November 19, 2012 at 2:15 am

God is always happy if one can transform themselves better with good Intensions and compassion towards others while extending a helping hand, because in a given circumstance Intensions matter. For example truth when said with wrong Intension deliberately can prove to be greatest lie and sometimes even fatal, like Yudhistir had to speak truth with wrong intension as part of attacking their opponents. This example is only to understand about the effect of intensions and the whole scenario is not termed to be wrong! So thoughts should always intend for good and other’s benefit. Serving selflessly itself can show us the path towards devinity. God is never happy only with our prayers without any attempt of extending helping hand within the possible limits and energy God has gifted us with, if one can’t share his fortune be it money, education, prosperity and not able to share it with needy then it’s of no use. It should never be that other person is assessed only with his fortune, not caring for their need. Then we are misusing the fortune given to us and not thanking God for His gifts in our life. For sure God is happy only with those who can serve the needy.

Appaji’s every day’s MMS is bringing us from darkness to light and thereby, as you said He is Suryaswaroopa. The first line of this MSG( Serving Guru is not pressing His feet). Here Appaji is reminding us instead of pressing, you have to do padapooja to His feet which is equal to do Pooja to God since the God himself given more importance to a Guru. Again the word ( Giving Gift)……. Here i remember Appaji’s words saying that He will be always with people who are really with good hearted and sincere devotin wherein there is no importance for gift at all.  Under the circumstances He will be more and more nearer to you which is beyond our expectation. Further Puttuji you have explained here our prayers are full of petitions. Again here Appaji always says that there is no need to demand to God since it is already written by Him what is to be given and not to be given in this birth. We should always pray to God not to have any Ego in our life and to give the balance of mind for withstanding any thing during the bad period also. Finally you have said the projection of our mind………. According to me here again the mind is the root cause for anything. Therefore to get rid of this follow Appaji’s MMS 2 wherein He says Cultivate noble thoughts in the mind. If we practice like that definatiely we will be able to serve our Sadguru with good hearted, compassion, devotin and generous. Not only that when noble thoughts are in our mind naturally we will be able to serve others who are really in needy with out expecting anything from them.    JGD.

how wonderful, profound, complex and and simple similarly. all the spiritual paths and religions and ONE flame of light. again and again I marvel at how sri swamiji creates these grand mms – and a myriad of possibilities to serve our beloved sadguru. any seva is the most uplifting and exhilarating experience and I feel no other longing than all life being lived in His/Her selfless service. I remember that during the navaratri celebration in mysore ashrama some years ago the volunteers wore shirts with the label: in selfless service for sadguru. I’m not sure if it really read selfless (maybe it was in seva for sadguru) but this slogan accompanies me ever since, and whenever I find it difficult to accomplish anything it helps me find a joyful attitude. for me it is always such a wonderful and awesome experience feeling that the compassion I feel in my heart being a drop of Your infinite ocean of compassion.

Serving Guru is not pressing his feet – 18 Nov 2012

What does the Master expect from us in terms of service? He only wishes that we follow His words and guidance and become better human beings. Doing Seva to Guru’s physical form is important, but far more important is our internal transformation and developing humane qualities that are mentioned in this MMS. Association with Sadguru helps us imbibe these qualities from Him. Like Surya Deva, He is our guiding light, showing us the way. Let us follow Him sincerely and progress in the path of spirituality. What can we offer Appaji, that is not His already… whatever we have has been bestowed by Him.. the best humble offering we can give Him, is follow Him, follow His teachings and improve ourselves every minute.

    • Archana Penukonda on December 19, 2012 at 5:18 am

Serving the Guru is following his words. Sri Swamiji’s life is His message, so following his footsteps will be following His message. Swamiji’s messages are about being patient, speaking nicely to people around us, thinking before we speak, conquering our inner enemies, looking at all living beings as part of our family, lending a helping hand to the needy, feeding the hungry, respecting elders, showing loving care towards children, protecting our temples and our culture, leading a righteous life, always keeping our integrity, always forgiving etc. Sri Swamiji’s life is full of examples that demonstrate these virtues and a lot more. All the books in the world are inadequate to extol the virtues of our Sathguru. What Swamiji wants is not for us to just be first in line for Pada Pujas, but to be first in line to help others, to be first in line to speak the truth, to be first in line to spread pure love. Obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet!
