  1. On its journey from & back to the ocean, water takes many forms.. cloud, snow, glacier, river.. but, it isn’t attached to any such identity or form.
One can say water in all devotion to its source, transits to the ocean. Or one can say water without attachment to its form, transits through the sky, mountain & river bed. Both perspectives are two sides of the same coin, on how water manages to find its way back to its source
Each one of us flow from & back to the Supreme. On the way, we experience a series of transformations. To say we’re devoted to that Supreme (Guru), or to say we’re in renunciation of identity with our transient form or lower nature, are two sides of the same coin
    Pranams Sathguru!
We realize, when we earn that coin, we’re ready to dial up to connect with our higher nature. 301 lessons you’ve taught us on how to do that. You live those lessons everyday, inspiring us to follow you. We are grateful. We will
    Jaya Guru Datta. Your Puttuji

    301. దేవునిపై, లేక గురువుపై భక్తి, అహంకార పరిత్యాగం, ఒకే నాణానికి రెండు ప్రక్కలు. ఓం హరయే నమః – ఓం జనార్దనాయ నమః
Completely giving up the sense of a separate identity and allowing God to always act through me, as Swamiji does, is the same as giving up ego, I think. But it is not in my control to do so. Even that has to happen only through God’s/Guru’s grace. Total, pure devotion towards God/Guru may fetch that result. But who grants such pure devotion? Only God/Guru through His infinite compassion. As Sri Jayalakshmi Mata declared in the Kannada song, “Nannadenu illa Krishna, iruvudella ninnde” (there is nothing that is mine, Krishna, all that there is, is yours). Jaya Guru Datta

  2. Jaya Guru Datta!

Jaya Guru Datta Puttuji. Is it water that is deciding whether to take form as a cloud, snow, a glacier, or a river? God decides, I think. Is man deciding whether he should be born clever, strong, gluttonous, or as a rowdy? Is man not also following God’s decree and taking whatever form and attributes that God grants him, and following that particular path, be it rough or smooth, to merge back in the Supreme? The cloud simply drops down from the sky and joins the ocean. The rivulet born on a mountain peak struggles through its long and arduous journey, suffering much pain and friction before reaching its destination. Neither has the freedom nor the power to remain in their temporary form in their temporary station, be it in the air or on a mountain top. By God’s decree they must reach the ocean sooner or later. Likewise, is not God/Guru promising us all salvation, sooner or later, by an easier or a tougher method, as per our situation? Are we not all simply puppets in His hands, being granted devotion and the inclination to surrender our ego, also, only as and when He sees fit, in the manner decided by Him? Perhaps all that we can do, if He wills it, is to pray for the strength and the ability to pray properly (201). That way perhaps we will receive His compassion sooner, rather than later, and reach our supreme goal by an easier means, rather than through a strenuous route (108), by the grace of our Sadguru. Jaya Guru Datta

Thank you, Appaji. Yes, there is no pointing in saying “I love you Appaji” on one hand, and then turning around, and bad-mouthing and ill-treating others with our bloated egos. Hanumantha, please trim our egos, help us develop the ultimate seva attitude that you possess. Sri Guru Datta.

  4. Wonderful message by Sadgurudeva. What is the use of a boisterous devotion that of Ravana? Devotion that is laden with renunciation and innocence ala Shabarii is what needed.

The song “Ananta Shayana” is composed by Jayalakshmi Mata and was found in her handwriting in the Kannada Bhagavatha book she used to keep. Later Datta Peetham published the book titled “Sri Krishna Jaya”. Selected songs were sung by Sri.Shankar Shanbague and was released as “Sri Krishna Jaya” album in 2007 Shivaratri – link – http://www.dattapeetham.com/india/festivals/2007/shivaratri2007/feb16_eve/feb16_eve.html

I think when one is truly devoted to Guru , Guru works through that person, all his deeds are done without selfish motives and ego is diminished. All is done by the grace of Sadgudeva, true knowledge is bestowed. I pray to be worthy of such a Guru, my Appaji. Jaya Guru Datta. Om namo Hanumate namah.

Appaji’s today’s MMS also make us to think deeply about a comparison of devotion and renunciation of ego. In otherwords once we sacrifice our ego, they are same or equal of two sides of a same coin. If we still go deep in to this, once we get rid of from ego , pride, jealous and selfishness , it leads automatically to devotion only. In this Kaliyuga it is very difficult to sacrifice such qualities , because we are involved or attracted in unwanted desires and worldly pleasures and there by we may not be able to develop self realization in our life. Therefore to overcome this, there is only one way and that is to follow a spiritual path under the guidelines of Sadguru . Here we have to follow his words and teachings strictly and develop our spiritual knowledge till the end of our life. Here we are always a student and the Saguru is always our Master. The photography is very apt for this MSG since in Mother’s creation even the water comes from it’s source and flow in different form based on the situation and finally it ends in to the ocean only. Similarly in the creation of God , we come from it’s source and go through various forms during our life in this earth and finally go to the the same supreme only. But during this period in this we can see the God in the form of our Sadguru , and if we follow His words and teachings , then we can develop our spiritual knowledge . Unless we acquire this knowledge , we cannot come out from our Ego and the other bad qualities and in which case our life will be a failure . The Bhajan rendered by Sri Shankar shanbhag from the CD Sri Krishna jaya is very apt for this MSG since we have to see our Appaji in the form of Lord Vishnu , Who will protect and guide us in our life provided we follow Him. Thank You Appaji for your good lesson and we follow you till our life. JGD.

Divine video chanting “Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om” sounds like we should “Hurry, Hurry, Hurry”. It is foolish to wait till tomorrow, because I don’t know if there is a tomorrow for this body. MMS #266 said that when ego is purged, one merges with God.

A true devotee understands the nature of a Guru, knows that the Guru is the one taking care of Him, protecting Him, uplifting Him. A true devotee understands that everything that’s happening to him is by the blessing of the Guru and that real happiness is experienced in surrender to the Guru. This surrendering is the offering of the ego to the Guru because the devotee understands that there is no more “I”. Only the Guru exists, and the Guru is none other than Lord Shiva who is the real “I” in everyone. Hence, perhaps, devotion to the Guru and renunciation of ego are two sides of the same coin. This also tells me that as long as I have my ego, a belief that I am the doer, I am never truly a devotee. Obeisances at the Holy Lotus Feet!

JGD. “Let go and let God” is a saying I like to remember. It seems that the “let go” part is renunciation and the “let God” part is Bhakti. I like this new way of looking at it. Thank You Swamiji. Thank You Puttuji. JGD.

Millions of humble prostrations at the lotus feet of Our Dattaswaropa Sathgurudeva _/\_!!
    Pujya Bala Swamiji _/\_!!

Appaji’s dharsan with the coin is so beautiful on this auspicious Lakshmi Jayanthi Day !!

Sadgurudeva: Sachchidananda Unveiled- Devotion (BHAKTI) :
Several types of devotion are discussed in our scriptures Nava Vidha Bhakti (nine ways of worship)). Among them Atma Nivedana (Self Surrender) is considered to be the highest stage of devotion. Self-Surrender requires complete effacement of “I” the ego and the sense of doership and enjoyership.

    Sadgurudeva’s Discourse: Dharma Divine Dairy:
Do not develop ego knowledge. Develop devotional knowledge. The fire of
true knowledge reduces to ashes the sins and previous deeds and Karmas.

Amazing MMS with Sadgurus Darshan & Amazing explanation Puttuji !!
The chanting ‘Hari Om Hari ” in the MMS makes us remember Prahalada’s incessant chanting of the names of Lord Vishnu. So intense was the devotion that GOD descended in all ways to protect him. Prahalada had infinite devotion only.

Kill my ego, open my eyes Show your form, give me peace
Clean my mind , make me wise Your grace is the greatest prize.- We sing and surrender at your Lotus Feet Appaji !! Sri Guru datta !

My beloved SADGURU, can I say, as long as my ego plays its role I am not really devoted? This gives me the opportunity to work from both sides: I can let go my ego and gain devotion, and I can develop devotion and my ego diminishes.
    Thank YOU for this teaching.
