    16th July : Good deed:

Lord shiva has come to us in the form of sadguru.. In that case, whatever is instructed to us by our Sadguru , if followed sincerely, is equivalent to shiva’s worship.. Hence our work place becomes kashi..  Kashi kashi Gangasangata Varanasi , is my favourite bhajan as it reminds me of the sacred Kashi programm with Sri swamiji where it was sung for the first time by his holiness.. This version from appaji 70 album , is indeed very captivating .. I am very happy to be able to get it from flipcart…. Encourage other Datta devotees to try it out too…

Jaya Guru Datta Sri Appaji. On your boat you took us to visit the punya teertha Kashi, in a vividly picturesque imagination. You blessed us the phala of Kashi Darsana Shiva Rathri. You also blessed us to perform our deeds even if a small one; a lot of small ones in a day, as offering to Lord. What a mighty message in just a short time Appaji you blessed us. Sri Guru Datta.

  1. Wonderful message Puttuji! This message is very powerful and true. This message reminds me of Sudama (Kuchela), who offered a small gift to Lord Krishna with true devotion and received numerous riches in return!

We are always looking for a great deeds to offer to god, competing with ourselves. But you showed us we can achieve this by doing even small deeds with complete heart.

Jaya guru datta.. Sri Swamiji always gives more to people that have even did a little service in the ashrama. Many of my friends and family members are perfect examples of this quote. On similar lines, another quote I like is Sri Swamiji truly demonstrates “walk one mile towards me and I will walk 10”. Thanks Puttuji for the wonderful message

No small offering is refused by God once it is reverentially and humbly offered!

‘Bhagavadarpana Bhavana’… What a beautiful message by our Pujya Sadgurudeva! Whatever small good deeds that we do in our day to day lives when offered at the lotus feet of sadgurudeva results in great merit:)

Jaya Guru Datta Appaji..Really this message always relates to my Life…I always feel that you are with me whenever i help someone or receive Help from someone..

What a beautiful quote, and it make me remember the story of stripped little squirrel in Ramayana. Though the contribution of squirrel was limited few grains of sand in building the bridge to Lanka, his devotion to Lord Rama and to unite Him with Seetha was unquestionable. His little contribution with devotion earned stripes on his back. I hope, we can contribute little things to make the world a better place to live.

Thank you Sri Swamiji, this message is very inspiring, and helps us to perform good deeds to uplift our thinking in the right path of life.

A good deed big or small, seen or unseen when done with a pure heart truly resonates with others. Children and Appaji are the wonderful examples for the same. We learn from Appaji and have to make sure that the kids follow it.

Jai Guru Datta, Appaji. All things, small or big, are from His grace, due to His grace, …never due to the might of individuals like us! Is it my effort that is enabling me to breath when I am asleep?! It is His grace that is sustaining my very existence. As such, small or big, every acheivement of mine is due to Him and belongs to Him. The Hari of Vaikuntha and the Hara of Kailasa is You, The unknown, unseen God, personified to liberate us, is You. Pranams to Your Lotus Feet! With these inspiring messages from You, my dearest Father, may we learn to surrender more by each day….for a complete surrender one day, definitely! Jaya Ho Sadguru Deva Datta.

  3. The way each was helping the other today at the Kaveri river was very heart-warming because the rocks were very slippery and uneven. Because each was unselfishly and lovingly lending a hand to another, all of us had a safe and wonderful time which was the great reward enjoyed by all. The above quote in the divine voice of Sri Swamiji both in English and Telugu truly inspires to think of the next person before thinking of ourselves. Also the same teaching is reinforced in Share Your Food program that we are following every Tuesday as per Guru’s advice. The photos, the music and the whole presentation of this video is very eye catching and pleasing.

When Swamiji speeks about offering a deed to God, I am thinking how do I do this, is it enough to say inside: “Dear Swamiji I offer this to you” or how else to offer? And not to take credit for the deed? I think it would be easier if he is alwayes in my mind

    • Niveditha Samudrala on July 17, 2012 at 2:20 pm

Goodness is one of the cornerstones for peaceful coexistence in the society. I remember reading in Appaji’s life history that once ‘Satyanarayana’ was intrigued by the cause of begging and what has lead to such miseries. After musing severely, he concludes that ‘Karuna’ is the solution. In fact, it is difficult to be good – both in thoughts and actions in the present times owing to several modern day factors and vicissitudes of fate that are beyond comprehension. BUT, that is when I believe one must strive to be compassionate and non-judgmental- both of one’s self and people around. Only this shall lead to a harmonious and well balanced society.

Sometimes, I think, whatsoever one’s religious beliefs may be, being good is something that should be held in all situations towards fellow beings- this is the basic tenet of humanity.

    Jai Guru Datta.

Darkness is removed by sunlight. agha is removed by sadguru datta anaghaswami. The meaning is shown in the video excellently. Not knowing, whether to see the video, understanding the meaning. Not knowing, whether to close the eyes and hear the madhura gaana. How beautiful the Hanumadprabhava shown as colourful radiations. How sweet the mantra is!

Appaji has taken us through a journey to Kashi. How beautiful are his comments.

    • on July 17, 2012 at 5:58 pm

Jaya Guru Datta. There is immense satisfaction in not taking on the fruit of an important action but offered to the Almighty and Sadguru. The result and the peace is multiplied several times. Almost like the small drops and streams of water gain momentum as they flow and finally merge into the ocean. The power of the water stream is mutliplied and the identity is merged into the large river and ocean

Only through small good deeds in daily life, one can inculcate good nature to be a good human. Everything is the creation of God, what else can we offer Him except for good deeds like serving others. Beautiful message by Sri Swamiji ‘Shivaya Gurave Namaha’

    • Vimala on July 17, 2012 at 7:29 pm

It is amazing to realize that God/dess, who is so great, can care about ANY of my deeds, and yet he/she does. It is not that he/she needs this offering, it is that it is good for US! This small, three-lined note matters! JGD! SGD!

    • dariashakti on July 17, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Jaya Guru Datta,Appaji, there was once a film called “Pay It Forward” where instead of seeking revenge, people did a good deed for someone and the only pay back that they wanted was that the next person would do a good deed for someone else. You gave us a peace mantra today. If we actually thought like this, we would have peace….

    Jaya Guru Datta Appaji,

This video message reminds me of, my first US experience with Sri Swamiji. I have sincerely set aside some more from my student pay check and offered at Sri Swamiji’s feet. Sri Swamiji asked and enquired what is and the beautiful smile HH gave is unforgettable.
Before, I never had good experience about Kasi(based on movies and youtube videos), but after Sri Swamiji visited Kasi and gave lectures on the greatness of Kasi, HH has changed my impression about this Holy place. Kasi looks so beautiful in the video. Thank you Appaji for making me realize the importance of Kasi kshetra.

Jai Guru Datta. Sri Swamiji teaches us about living life as an offering to God and the importance of doing good deeds and having humility always. Thank you Appaji.

  5. JGD Appaji, this truly reminds us about Guru Bakthi and that Guru doesn’t assess us on the magnitude of deed but it’s the magnitude of Bakthi.

    Om Sivaya Gurave Namah!
It has been my sincere belief and experience that Our dear Sadguru is the Lord Shiva Himself. Just being around with Him gives a more enriching and soulful experience of being in Kashi. The foot tapping music of “kashi..” and the profound message from Pujya Swamiji is both educational and profound. May we and the coming generations learn from the message and continue to do deeds as stipulated in this video..
REverential Pranams to Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji..

Jaya Guru Datta! Thank you, Appaji, for reminding us that it is all about the motivation behind an action, thought or speech. The thing done, said or thought is irrelevant. The beauty is that every living being can achieve yoga with the divine, whatever status it has. And again through this video, I reconfirmed my sankalpa to make a pilgrimage to Kasi still in this life. Om namah shivaya! Om namo hanumate namah!

Jai Guru Datta Appaji – Evergrateful to your Compassionate and Graceful teaching that:
By doing good deeds constantly and selflessly, one day the realization would dawn that we are not helping ‘others’ but our own extended ‘SELF’ among the Vasudevaika Kutumbam (UNI-verse), as we are not the body/mind, but VERILY the Narayana Principle that sustains the sentient/insentient Universe.
Truly indebted to you for propagating such virtues through your spectacular and mellifluous MSS messages that teach us the Highest Pragnanam.

We will strive to perform good deeds selflessly realize the purpose of Life, which is to attain Sachchidanand’AMRITA’.

    Sri Guru Datta

I am a little human being in the bib cosmos. But when I think only like that, I am not motivated to do something. I must also see, that I can do a lot with little things. I can’t change the whole world, but we can together change it!

    • Govinda in Switzerland on July 20, 2012 at 6:45 pm

I wish I could be free of my desires.
Even when doing a small good deed in silence, I still have this tiny little desire for acknowledgement, which can poison everything.

Jaya Guru Hanuman, This message came at the correct time to reinforce our faith…..On 7/14 we did Hanuman mantra chanting at Karya Siddhi Hanuman temple in Dallas for 8 hours and offered it to Swamiji in the end….As a blessing just after completing the mantra chanting the weather suddenly changed and we received a shower as a blessing from nowhere in the drought stricken Texas. We were amazed by this…..When I looked today morning we received this amazing message which encourages us to do more good deeds and surrender to God….Thank you Swamiji…Please help us develop the attitude of surrender to god….Om namo hanumate namaha

a wonderfully consoling message for me. it is so calming to see that on a certain level there is no difference between small and great, when offered to the Divine with reverence so that everybody regardless of her/his capacities can join in doing good deeds. our normal mind (especially in our culture, where the individual performance seems to stand above everything else) works so much on judging by quantity – the bigger the better – that so many are disdained.
