Music for Meditation & Healing – 100th Musical Tour of Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji
His Holiness Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji visited Singapore from 22nd to 25th January 2009 as part of the 100th Musical tour. On 24th January 2009, Saturday, Sri Swamiji conducted a memorable and wonderful “Music for Meditation and Healing” concert with the name “Nada Dhyana Raga Sagara” in the Esplanade concert hall. This architectural gem is one of the iconic venues for music and culture in South East Asia. Built in the shape of a Durian, the national fruit of Singapore, this concert venue with state of art sound, light, seating and stage was transformed in to a celestial musical fountain.
Esplanade’s 1,600-seat Concert Hall boasts superb acoustics. These features include reverberation chambers and an acoustic canopy which adapts the hall for different musical performances, producing optimum sound at every concert.
Sri Swamiji started the concert at 7.30 PM and played the traditional “Pranava Swarupam”, followed by singing of “Ekadantaya” a self composed Bhajan. The central piece of the concert was “Nada Dhyana Raga Sagara” a Raga Malika of Ragas Dharmavati, Chakravaka, Mohana, Shadvidhamargini and Keeravani. Sri Swamiji concluded the evening with Rain drops melody and Raga Ragini Mangala.
The program was organized by the joint efforts of Datta Yoga Centers all over the world under the stewardship of Sri.K.V.Aiyappan of Singapore.
Sri Swamiji’s expert development of the Ragas accompanied by able support of the celestial message team and Dr. N. Ramani on flute, Dr. Manjunath on Violin, Dr. Ella Venkateswara Rao on Mridanga and Vid. V. Suresh on Ghatam completely showcased each Raga in its full form.
H.E. Dr. S. R. Nathan, President of the Republic of Singapore and Mrs. Urmila Nathan graced the program as chief guests. They attended the program fully. Sri. Rajendran, Chairman of Hindu Endowment Board and several other dignitaries attended the concert.
Devotees and music lovers had come from Canada, USA, Venezuela, Trinidad, South Africa, Zambia, England, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand to attend this historical concert. The program was transmitted by Singapore Broadcasting Corporations and was telecast live by Aastha TV and Aastha International TV.
