Srinivasa Kalyanam 6: Darshan of Varahaswamy must be had prior having darshan of Venkateshwara

Varaha Swamy, in the form of Varaha , having been staying on the earth and moving around on the earth itself was called as” Venkatachala Vasa” Varahaswamy found Venkatadri and chose to settle in a place of Northwest side, as a Vigraha and was living there in the pushkarini as “Jaladhi Vaasam”. Around Him was formed an anthill.

Due to His divine presence, that lake is called Varaha Pushkarini.Lord Brahma was happy with Varaha Swamy for obliging His request and staying on Venkatadri. Simultaneously, Lord SriHari has descended as Srinivasa. Brahma requested Srinivasa that in future, every devotee should first have the darshan of Varahaswamy and then go for the darshan of Venkateswara Swamy. He requested Srinivasa ( SriHari ) to grant him this boon since Brahma sincerely felt the significance of people visiting Varaha Swamy. In Sri Datta Venkateswara temple also , there is a system that first we should have the darshan of Varahaswamy carved in the stone in the temple premises and then the darshan of Datta Venkateswara.
VarAha DarshanAtpurvam
SrinivasAnname NAcha
Darshanath Brath VarAhasya
Srinivaso NA triptyati.
Lord Venkateswara . feels happy and blesses the devotees only if this system is followed by them.
Srihari had taken the incarnation of Varahaswamy. He brought the earth out of water. He was pleased with the beauty of Bhooloka and decided to stay on for some time. He found Venkatadri and chose to settle in the Northwest place of Varahaswamy’s anthill. He used to give darshan to people at times uplifting them with His blessings. Every system should be supported by a proof followed by a story.
In the same area , a Brahmin named Nishada lived with his son. Varahaswamy bent upon proving the boon that people should have Varahaswamy’s Darshan before that of Lord Venkateswara . He wanted to try it through “Nishada “. He observed Nishada’s daily rituals. Nishada used to give all the provision to a Brahmin , get them cooked , then first offer the sacred food to Srinivasa and then he used to eat . One day Nishada wanted to offer honey to Lord Srinivasa . Nishada informed the same to his son and asked him to take care of the provision as he was going to forest to get honey . After prolonged waiting for his father , the son lost patience as he was hungry. Hence he cooked food , offered whole heartedly to Varaha Swamy and ate the divine food /Prasada.
He wanted to tell the fact to his father. But Nishada was angry when he understood that his son had already eaten. When he shouted at his son, he confessed that he offered it to Varahaswamy and then ate. Nishada was unhappy and punished his son. He wanted to slay him. The son ran out and fell near the anthill. When father was about to slay him, Varahaswamy came out of the anthill. Varahaswamy swarupa SriHari caught hold of Nishada’s hand. They had a big argument. Varahaswamy explained to Nishada that his son offered food to Him and that He was happy and then disappeared. Nishada was speechless. Nishada sat for penance near the anthill for the divine darshan. Oh Varaha! You are great! You saved Bhoodevi. I adore you! Please bless me with your darshan.
A very beautiful Bhajan:
Varam Sweta VarAkyam Samrutya Dharani haram
Danshtraghrita DharoddhAram  Srinivasam Bhajeyam .
Bhajan :
Varahaswamyki Sri Hariki VarAlakakondaku Namo Namo !!
Varahaswamy felt very happy and came out of the anthill and utterd .” I am Sacchidananda Swaroopa. You cannot see me in this form as you are not that energetic but you can listen to me. But you can see my vigraha. The vigraha consecrated by Brahma is in this anthill. You take it out and consecrate it” . In due course, Nishada discharged the duty assigned by Varahaswamy. Varahaswamy also instructed Nishada to establish a system of devotees having the darshan of Varahaswamy prior to the darshan of Srinivasa. He followed the instructions and discharged the duty assigned and got blessed .

Srinivasa Kalyanam 5: Varahaswamy settles on Venkatadri hill together with Bhu-devi

2. In Treta Yuga, the demons created chaos and troubled sages and good people . The Lord manifested in human world as a human being, Sri Rama underwent many difficulties. No human can face such troubles . Sita Mata , Rama’s mothers Kousalya and Sumitra also struggled . The intensity of those difficulties can be understood only when men and women face such troubles . Human beings are called just “grass ” with no profound strength. Lakshmi never stayed away from Vishnu and hence called ANYAPAYANI . Every time Vishnu had taken an Avatara , Lakshmi also manifested and hence called Ayonija ( Not born from womb )
3. In Dwapara Yuga , Vishnu emerged as Lord Krishna and established Dharma.
4. In Kali Yuga , Lord Vishnu descended to earth directly from Vaikuntha . Prior to this , Vishnu descended as Varaha Murthy and went round the earth along with Lakshmi Devi .
Bhajan :
“Govinda Sananda Ananda
Gopala , Sripala , Sachidananda Payama . ”
When Lord Vishnu wanted to go back to Vaikuntha , Brahma was perplexed and prayed to Varahaswamy and requested Him to take care of the earth by staying back on the earth. Earth is Infact very beautiful . The land is very attractive . Americans project even a garbage basket very artistically . I miss it in India . Lord Venkateswara stays there where there is neatness and cleanliness . Venkateswara clears all your problems . Swamiji also is very particular about cleanliness especially in Ashrama. But people do not listen.
Varaha Swamy was searching for a good place . Garuda created a divine mountain and Varaha Swamy with Bhoodevi settled as Murthies. That mountain is called Venkatadri .
Varaha Vapusha Devo
VIHARI Nandanatate
Swapoorva Niyatavaasam
Pravede Venkatachalam .
In the meantime , Sri Hari had taken human form as Srinivasa . There is a lake pushkarini in invisible form. That lake is called Varaha Pushkarini . Brahma was very happy for Varaha Swamy for obliging His request to stay in Bhooloka .An Anthill was formed around Srinivasa . Brahma requested Srinivasa that in future , devotees should first have the divine Darshana of Varahaswamy and then go for the Darshan of Venkateswara Swamy . Srinivasa granted the boon. In Datta Venkateswara Swamy Temple also first Darshan should be of Varahaswamy , carved inside the stone which is placed in the temple premises .
Varaha darshanAtpurvam
Srinivasa Namennacha.
In case , devotees do not practice this , Venkateswara Swamy does not give a happy blessing. Varahaswamy is settled as ” Jaladhi Vasa ” in Pushkarini . We now discuss the story of Varahaswamy .

Having settled in Pushkarini, Varahaswamy often used to give Darshan to people and bestow upon them amazing prosperity . In the same area , a Brahmin named Nishada lived . with his son. Varahaswamy bent upon proving the boon that people should have Varahaswamy’s Darshan before that of Lord Venkateswara . He wanted to try it through “Nishada “. He observed Nishada’s daily rituals. Nishada used to give all the provision to a Brahmin , get them cooked , then first offer sacred food to Srinivas and then he used to eat . One day Nishada wanted to offer honey to Lord Srinivasa . Nishada informed the same to his son and asked him to take care of the provision as he was going to forest to get honey . After prolonged waiting for his father , the son lost patience as he was hungry. Hence he cooked food , offered to Srinivasa and ate the divine food /Prasada. .

Srinivasa Kalyanam 4: Chanting the Lord’s name bestows liberation in Kali-yuga

The one who is not born cannot become an achiever. The one who cannot achive is considered as non existing. Hanuman felt like ending his life when he could not collect the ring from the River and felt that he failed to find Sita and help Rama. He wanted to die. Because of this He developed a suicidal tendency.. When He realized that he had no right to feel so, since He did not have any right on his life, Hanuman repented and sought pardon from Rama .

If you want to ‘die’, every time your life span gets multiplied. Atma hatya (suicide), Sishu hatya,(killing a child ) Gohatya, (killing a cow) Matruhatya(killing mother) are all very unpardonable. They are all sinners. You should welcome difficulties by which your sin gets reduced. You should never be upset with God or with yourself in difficulties. Only timid people might say that. The one who does not think of God is a traitor. To lead a confident life, we have to listen to Lord’s stories.

Whenever we visit a temple, we have to have darshan of the celestials who are guarding the temple. We have to worship them first. Lord Shiva is the guard of Tirumala. We are not supposed to wear sandals, should not spit and urinate as the whole mountain is one ‘saligrama’. For Datta Venkateswara also ‘Sarvadosha Hara’ Shiva is the Kshetra palaka. Wherever there is Shiva there is Narayana.

Shivaya Vishnu Rupaya Shiva Rupaya Vishnave.

Both of them are one and the same. Lord Srinivasa is in the hearts of everyone and is ruling. He appears in different forms for different people. But God is only one.

In Krita Yuga people attained liberation by meditating upon paramatma.
In Treta Yuga, people attained liberation by performing yajnas and yagas.
In Dwapara Yuga, it was possible to attain liberation by performing archana.
In Kali Yuga, mere sankeertana gives salvation.
Govinda. He is not a female, nor a male. He is always amidst people. We do not know who he is blessing, troubling, saving or punishing. Lord Vishnu protected the Earth in all four yugas taking four different forms.

Lord Vishnu likes the earth the most. There are 14 worlds. But on the earth, Lord Vishnu manifested ten times.
Lord Vishnu manifested on the earth in different yugas as ,
Krita Yuga as Narasimha,
Treta Yuga as Raghunandana,
Dwapara as Vasudeva,
Kaliyuga as Venkata Nayaka

1. In Krita yuga, to culminate the misdeeds of Hiranyakashyapa, Lord Vishnu manifested as Lakshmi Narasimha to protect the earth.

Bhajan: Yadagireeswara Saadaramamava Jaya Jaya Narasimha !!

With a true love for Prahlada, His disciple and love for the Earth, Lord Vishnu manifested with half lion’s body and a half human body. He appeared in the pillar and came out breaking the pillar.

Srinivasa Kalyanam 3: The Lord responds when called by any divine name

Since Lord Venkateswara  is Parabrahma , He responds when He is called by any name. That He is the manifestation of Parabrahma, our sages and all the rishis declared  He responds to any name. When you say  Venkata Ramana , he comes running as  Sankata Harana to dispel our suffering.  When we utter Namah Shivaya, He comes with the trident and wipes away our sorrow. He responds to Balaji too which is named after Goddess Bala,  He comes running to save us.

Since there should be a system for everything, Vedas glorify and praise Him as Govinda. Everyone started calling Him as Govinda as the name has a universal appeal. His prosperity is eternal,  which is the treasure of knowledge. Hence all sages and great men called him Srinivasa. Also called him as Govinda since He is the Parabrahma.which has been confirmed.

He is the main source of prosperity and knowledge. Most of us do not bother for knowledge but aspire for  and seek Prosperity. They say that God gives us in multiples of  what we give him . We made God as commercial entity. Lord Venkateswara also is prepared to the commercial aspect since the devotees are ignorant and hence the Lord initiated to bless them in multiples of what they offer to Him. One reminisce of that Swamy clears all the sins. Nama smarana and calling Him out as Venkatesa or Govinda ,make people get rid oif their sins.We do not have expertise in Tarka, Shastra and Veda. We cannot argue logically . The only thing we can do is Nama Smarana. Indulging in unwanted logical analyses dminishes our devotion. Hence we have to put an end to argument .

Palaya Govinda Sesha Chalapathi Govinda !!

Srinivasa is verily the God of Kaliyuga. He is Govinda. He had been there since ages. He is highly powerful. His manifestation is unique. it is much different and special compared to all other manifestations of Lord Vishnu. He is the God of seven hills. The one who is worshipped in difficulties. Tirumala Vasa, the one who  resides in Tirumala. The protector of the homeless. The protector of the orphans.

At every step we keep singing His glory. We utter His nama, in every breath of ours. Inhale by saying Govinda and exhale by saying Govinda. Utter His Nama at every blink of your eyes . The Nama should occupy every nerve of our body, and  it should be on par with the flow of blood in the body. Every drop of blood should keep singing Govinda – You are my Lord whether I face good or bad in my life. The form of Maha Vishnu which descends from Vaikuntha is none other than Lord venkateswara. How much ever we we praise the Lord, it would be insufficient. Like  Brahma.Venkateswara is creating, like Vishnu He is sustaining the world and is discarding  like Shiva / Rudra. He is removing everything like we human beings dispose the old ones and get the new things at home.

But some people with a faith that it is a matter of luck, accumulate articles, used by even their ancestors. But Venkateswara discarded  even the manifestations since for every Avatara also there was an end to the physical form.  We need to realize that we ourselves are not permanent in this world and then question the need to amass materialistic possessions. Since God cannot erase the dirt that you accumulate, God erases the person himself. People accumulate the bodies of ancestors. Once in Peru, people invited Swamiji to their house saying that there is God in their house. There were rooms inside rooms. when they opened the innner most room, there were bodies of their ancestors. It was giving very bad odour. Swamiji came out of their house. They preserved the bodies which have no life and chaitanya. Rudra says that He will discard if we do not discard .

Every human being has to worship  such wonderful Lord Srinivasa. Every human being should work towards achieving Purusharthas, the four conducts of life i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha.  The life of one who does not practice this is mere waste. Life is a golden opportunity to learn the tattva of Paramatma. We are advised by our eders that we should not waste even a single minute, an hour or a day . But we are wasting an entire life time. We are not making use of a wonderful chance.  Most of our time is wasted in sleep, anger, happiness, investing time on thinking in excess of unnecessary things/people, time spent in bus stand, railway station, airports-you are losing the whole lifetime. Laziness and ignorance are of devilish nature. At some point, you will realize and open a book in old age.  But by the time you read one page, you get tired since you never pracised. We have to aim at achieving great deeds. The one who died or the one who is not born at all is much better than the one who wastes his life. How can one not be reborn? It is possible only  by attaining liberation.

Our aim should be to achieve or accomplish something in life. A person who doesn’t even attempt to achieve something is a complete waste.

Bhagawatam 230: Arrival of the four Kumaras into the assembly; Prithu reverentially worships them

Namo vivṛddha-sattvāya puruṣāya mahīyase

Yo brahma kṣatram āviśya bibhartīdaṁ sva-tejasā

Obeisance to Srihari the embodiment of goodness (sattva) and the most supreme amongst all beings (Purusottama)! He has retained his illumination within Brahmins and Kshatriyas and through them He is protecting this universe.

With this the twenty-first chapter of the fourth canto comes to an end.

Fourth Canto Chapter Twenty-two

In this chapter, the meeting between Emperor Prithu and the four Kumāras is covered.

Maitreya Maharishi said to Vidura, “While the citizens were extolling King Prithu, the valourous noble being, four Maharishis who resembled the Sun in brightness arrived.

Prithu along with his attendants noticed them who were descending from heaven and who, with their gazes were purifying all those present in the assembly. Looking at the brightness on their faces, King Prithu recognized them.

As anxiously as the mind, the leader of the senses, tries to pull back into itself the life-force and sense perceptions that are departing from the body, Prithu stood up. Instantly his attendants and all assembled guests also stood up.

Prithu who had deep regard and reverence for these saints was immediately predisposed towards them. With great humility he reverentially bowed before them, offered them customary water offerings and seats to sit. After they accepted their seats and sat comfortably on them, Prithu worshipped them. He washed their feet and sprinkled that holy water on his head such that his hair was drenched. Through his supreme actions he taught people how the attitude and behavior of noble beings should be.

Sanaka and other Maharishis are the brothers of Lord Rudra. When they sat on their golden seats they shone like the fire in the sacrificial fire-pit. Prithu who was totally dedicated towards them was extremely pleased with their arrival. He addressed them and said,

“How fortunate we are! O supreme saints your arrival symbolizes auspiciousness. I have no idea what kind of meritorious deeds I would have performed to be blessed with your darshan, which is impossible for even great saints.

There is nothing which a person, who has pleased Vedic scholars, Shiva and Vishnu together with their attendants, cannot get in this world or in the next. In other words, he can obtain everything in this world and next if he pleases Shiva, Vishnu and Vedic scholars.

Human beings are unable to recognize the Self, which is the witness that resides within. They are unable to understand about Mahat and other principles that are responsible for this creation. Similarly, although you travel across all the planes, ordinary persons are unable to recognize you.

Adhanā api te dhanyāḥ sādhavo gṛha-medhina

Yad-gṛhā hy arha-varyāmbu- tṛṇa-bhūmīśvarāvarā

Householders are very happy when Mahatmas visit their house and drink water offered to them. Together with their servants they take great pleasure in offering services to Mahatmas who are seated in their homes. Such householders become fortunate even though they may be poor.

Ganga was born from the lotus feet of Lord Srihari. A home could be filled with all types of opulence but if the feet of Lord Srihari’s devotees are not washed in that home, it is like a tree in which snakes reside. No one approaches a tree on which snakes live. No one dares to pluck its fruits. The tree could be vast and could provide adequate shelter. It could be replete with fruits. But yet, as none utilize these benefits, its existence is a sheer waste.

O great saints, I welcome you reverentially. You are supremely knowledgeable. Right from infancy you have shown great inclination towards liberation and have taken up intense austerities.

O great saints, we are deluded into believing that enjoying sensory pleasures is the only goal of life. To us, such sensory pleasures themselves are the four-fold aims of life (puruśārthas). Engaging in fruitive actions and reaping their resultant benefits, we are trapped in this bondage known as repeated births and deaths. Life is nothing but a storehouse of grief. Is there any hope of liberation for us, who are totally submerged in these bondages?

O great saints, you are totally established in the Self. You eternally enjoy inner bliss. It is not apt to enquire about your welfare because segregations such as ‘this is auspicious; that is inauspicious’ do not exist in your mind. You are those supreme personalities who come to the aid of the down trodden. Therefore, with implicit faith in you, I am putting forth my doubt.

Sampṛcche bhava etasmin kṣema kenāñjasā bhavet  – What is the shortest and easiest route for an individual to obtain auspiciousness in this world?

Supreme Lord Srihari is birthless. Even though He exists as the Self within all living beings, He makes himself visible only to those valourous persons who have the actual experiential knowledge of permanent and impermanent objects in this creation. Only they realize Him to be the inner Self.

In order to bless devotees such Lord Srihari moves everywhere in the form of accomplished beings like you. This is undoubtedly true.”

In this way, Emperor Prithu in a grave voice uttered melodious, friendly and pleasant words. Hearing this, Maharishi Sanat-kumara with a charming pleasant face that was filled with affection, addressed Emperor Prithu and said,

“sādhu pṛṣṭaṁ mahārāja sarva-bhūta-hitātmanā

bhavatā viduṣā cāpi sādhūnāṁ matir īdṛśī
