Patanjali Raga Sagara, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Haridwar – 11th April, 2009
Music for Meditation and Healing
His Holiness Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji
Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji returned to New Delhi on 10th April 2009 from His tour of Canada and USA. Sri Swamiji traveled all the way from Chicago to Delhi and then to Haridwar on 11th April 2009 to perform in the Music for Meditation and Healing programme at Patanjali Yoga Peeth – the internationally renowned Yoga Institution of Yog Rishi Pujya Swami Ramdevji in Haridwar, Uttarkhand State in Northern India.. Despite the jet lag, and the continuous journey, Sri Swamiji was looking fresh on the stage without any evidence of tiresomeness. The programme was telecast on Aastha TV channel through out the world. Kudos to Pujya Sadguru deva for His divine grace and affection. The founder of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Pujya Yoga Rishi Swami Ramdevji Maharaj greatly applauded Pujya Sri Swamiji for gracing the International Yoga Teachers Training Camp and performing Patanjali Raga Sagara Music concert for meditation and healing in the Patanjali Yog Peeth. He expressed that the entire Yog Peeth family is indebted to Sri Swamiji for His love. Param Shradhey Acharya Balakrishnaji offered shawl to Pujya Sri Swamiji and mementos to all the participants.
Sri Swamiji started the concert with Pranava Swaroopam in Raga Rushyaketu Priya that has the vibrations to purify the surroundings and instruments. Its element is Vayu. There is a tradition of mixing voice in the healing process. Swamiji sang a composition on Goddess Durga Parameshwari in Raga Charukeshi – Jala Tattva, seeking her grace to grant divine wisdom. This was followed by Patanjali Raga Sagara main items – Ragas Hindola (Jala Tattva, the water principle), Raga Nartaki a (Jala Tattva, the water principle), Raga Kaamavardhani (Vayu Tattva, the air principle), Bhanukanti (tender touch, rare Raga in Vayu Tattva, air principle), Shankarabharanam (ancient raga that has modern feel- Bhu Tattva Raga, earth principle) and finally Mangalam in Sama Raga (air principle). Swamiji said that all these ragas would be especially beneficial for people suffering with low back pain and also to enhance the energies of the six Chakras from Mooladhara to Sahasrara. Listening to soothing music without rhythm during meditation before practice of Yoga and Asanas, will increase the benefit of Yoga on body, mind and intellect by several folds.
Welcome Speech of Pujya Yog Rishi Baba Ramdevji
The entire family of Patanjali Yog Peeth today feels happy to heartfully welcome Sadgurdev Pujya Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji Maharaj to Patanjali Yog Peeth. We are all so fortunate. He has traveled all the way from Canada for 20 hours to come to us today. It is His pure love friendship and grace. His friendship with us is like the friendship of a Guru to His disciple, a friendship of a father to his son. Despite having reached great spiritual height, I see in this great Maharshi, a child like simplicity. He has a lovely disposition.
Music has got a great association with our lives. Pujya Sri Swamiji Maharaj has studied the effects of music on the plants, trees, medicinal herbs, animals, birds, human beings, the five elements and the Seventy two crore Seventy two lakh ten thousand two hundred and ten Nadis, and the Prana and how the disturbances in flow of Prana can be rectified by the use of sounds. Most importantly he has not received any formal training in music, all of it is a divine gift of the supreme master- the almighty. Where did this Swamiji receive His training in Music- from the supreme Brahman. When did this musical talent manifest in him- In the womb of the mother. This great seer was born in a family of musicians. His divine birth took place at the holy confluence of Kaveri, Arkavati and Guptagamini rivers. Our humble respects to you Swamiji.
Many of you must have watched the special telecast of the concert from Singapore in Aastha TV channel. I also watched the programme. Swamiji always loves to stay amidst nature and in tune with the nature. I am not trying to give a formal introduction about Sri Swamiji to you; I am trying to explain the divine and spiritual connection.
We offer our salutations to this great soul whose life is full of music, whose Prana is music and who has music in thought, word and deeds. We heartily welcome you Swamiji to this Patanjali Yoga Peeth.
Message of Pujya Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji
Sri Ganeshaya namah,
Sri Saraswatyei namah,
Sri Padavallabha,
Narasimha Saraswati,
Sri Guru Dattatreyaya namaha.
Today is an auspicious day, Swati Nakshatra, Dwitiya (second day of the lunar calendar), a beautiful union of Nada and Yoga. Yoga relates to the Shatchakras (six primordial metaphysical energy centres located along the spine of the human body, Mooladhara, Swadhishtana, Manipooraka, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna) which represent the transcendence of the human from the physical to the divine plane, which are the seats of energy of all physical and metaphysical actions. Nada represents the pranic force in the body that is responsible for all the subtle and gross actions in the body. This is a union of these forces. This music is not entertainment music. They are specially engineered sounds for producing healing and balancing effects on the body, mind and intellect- Yoga Sangeeta. This is the ancient Raga Ragini Vidya, time tested even from the Kruta, Treta and Dwapara eras. It is the musical energy that stabilizes the Nadimandala (plexus of nerves in the human body). Swamiji came running all the way from Chicago in a single non stop flight to perform in this Yogbhumi because of the love extended by this Peetham to Swamiji. Swamiji is immensely pleased seeing this temple of Yoga and the practice of Yoga here. Yoga and Nada are like father and mother, like Shiva and Parvati. This concert is like union of Shiva and Parvati. This union of Yoga and Nada guarantees physical and mental well-being. It stabilizes the vibrations related to the Chakras. It enables the flow of nectarine bliss. Each Raga has a different effect on the Chakras. It is advisable to listen to such music during practice of Yoga and meditation. You will certainly have great experiences. Today’s concert concentrates on the Ragas related to the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether). We are all fortunate indeed for we have the opportunity to listen to such divine music in this august place of Yoga.
Sri Swamiji started the concert with Pranava Swaroopam in Raga Rushyaketu Priya that has the vibrations to purify the surroundings and instruments. Its element is Vayu. Pujya Yog Rishi Baba Ramdevji’s speech after the concert
The divine music and divine presence of Sri Swamiji in this Peeth was elating and enchanting. We are all eager to listen to more of it. The divine and festive flow had just started but time has to keep going. The name of Ganapati is in the name of Swamiji, therefore His presence itself is auspicious and He is Sachchidananda- the blissful one and granter of bliss.
We pray Sri Swamiji to keep blessings us with many more such divine and melodious musical sessions. Many of us have listened to such divine music for the first time and it was a great experience. Most of us are in fact waiting for more of it again in the near future because we no longer remain as two different Peeth but have become one spiritually.
